INTRO What motivates you to play this game? To get your picture taken? To see your name on the stat sheet? To win all the awards? To be on the top 50 list? Or is it purely to win? If I asked that to each player in this league, and the answer could remain anonymous, I’m curious what the answer would be……. We are 5 weeks in, and other questions are definitely getting answered. In the pro division, it is safe to say that Menace is for real this season as they beat the Huskers in a game that could definitely help decide where teams are seeded come playoff Sunday. Mile High Built stayed in the win column after a solid victory against the Lightning. The Bulls smashed a very out of sync Goats squad and CTS played their game in an easy win against the Shinobi Clan. In the comp division, week five is now done and things are heating up for the home stretch. Teams have started to separate themselves into tiers. In the top tier, sitting at 1, 2 and 3 is VIP, Carnage, and Mile High Mana. Those teams have separated themselves from the pack. The next group is a couple of 2-3 teams that have had good games and not so good games. The final three teams have 1-4 records, but I don't feel their record speaks to the talent. VIP got all they could handle from Empire, but they were able to come away with a 18 to 16 victory to stay undefeated. VIP will go against a familiar foe in the Rockers for week 6. It will be interesting if VIP has their full squad with the game being the last of the day. Empire has improved a ton and they are no team to overlook. A win against the Grizzlies could catapult the team into 5th seed. The Slime Boyz got off the snide with a win against the Rockers. Slime was able to get their offense going to pair with their talented defense. They face the Muddogs in a crucial game in the playoff race. The Rockers will be trying to give VIP their first loss of the season. The third game started close but Carnage would end up pulling away and end the game with 2 minutes remaining. Carnage will be facing Mana in a battle for second place. The Grizzlies will be facing Empire in week 6. A win would secure a playoff spot for the Grizzlies. The final game had the Muddogs going against Mana. The Muddogs started the game off scoring first. Mana had a rough start but pulled it together and ended up getting the 32 to 13 win. Mana could vault themselves ahead of Carange with a win. The Muddogs have played tough but find themselves on a four game losing streak and look to avoid making it five. Basically, week six has a lot at stake. The end of the tunnel is in sight….. 10/15/2022

I think the whole league was curious about this matchup. It is always hard to beat a champion. The Huskers came into the game struggling offensively this season, and they were about to face a revamped Menace defense behind newcomers Greg Jackson, Dre Newton and Koree Ross. On the other side of the ball, you don’t downplay the talent that the Huskers defense brings with All-pros at almost every position. Add that to the fact that Menace QB Jesse Eaton has always struggled against the Huskers, this was a great chess match. On the games first play from scrimmage, a Mario Lopez pass would be deflected and end up in Matthew Rainey’s hands for a pick 6 and just like that Menace was up 7-0. The rest of the half was all defense. Offensively, Menace couldn’t do anything. They would have the ball twice and and only pick up one total first down. The Huskers moved the ball a bit and would get to the Menace one yard line as halftime was being reached, but they were unable to punch it in. On the second play of the second half, a terrible throw by Jesse Eaton would be picked off by Dez Burks for his own pick 6 and just like that, we were tied at 7. The summary of what happened next can go much faster. Eaton would complete his next 10 consecutive passes, 2 of them scores to Malcolm Whye and Antuan Bloom as the Menace offense found its rhythm. The Menace defense didn’t let up. The Huskers offense didn’t score all day. Add a late Malcolm Whye to Spyda Bloom TD and Menace rolled to their most impressive win of the season. We will see how this game affects both teams. Menace can’t let up now as they will take on the undefeated Bulls. The Huskers will face the Goats in a game both teams need to win. 10/15/2022

Mile High Built has their own type of way they play. Anyone who’s been in the league for awhile knows exactly what I’m talking about. They don’t have any funny tricks up their sleeve. You know exactly what you’re gonna face. Defensively, the exact same in-your-face scheme for years now. Offensively, with Ross at QB, nothing pretty, but it gets the job done. In the first half, the Lightning moved the ball, but two Ross Alisiani INT’s on back to back possessions would keep any kind of momentum from building. Two TD’s by Tommy Hilbert and one by Rudy Lamorie would give MHB a 21-0 halftime lead. The Lightning fought back in the second half with a couple of John Everhart TD throws. Behind the consistent and very underrated Doug Clinkscales and his 9 flag pulls, the defense stepped it up. However, the MHB lead was just too tall of a mountain to climb. A third Hilbert TD would close the door on this one. Next week, we will see another great matchup with MHB and CTS locking up in what will be an important game to decide playoffs seeding. The Lightning will play in an important one themselves as they will face the Shinobi Clan in a game that will probably decide who goes to the playoffs as the 7th seed, and who leaves the pro division.

With the talent on both of these teams, this game had the potential to be a good contest. However, only one squad showed up on this day as the Bulls came out focused and didn’t let off the gas. Bulls QB David Knighton had 12 straight completions, 3 TD’s and an 18-0 lead before he threw his first incompletion. Another new face to the Bulls, WR Kevin Miller would outduel all-pro Goats/Chiefs DB Malcom Owens for 3 first half scores. That was more than enough for the Bulls defense. Add scores in the second half by WR’s Audreas Lane and Marcus Crowder, and you get an impressive performance by the undefeated Bulls. Two QB sacks by the Goats/Chiefs Josh Maes was about the only highlight of the day for the opposing team. The positive for the Goats/Chiefs is that this was just one game whether they lost by one point or thirty. There is still plenty of time to regroup. This is a squad with the talent to make a run. As far the Bulls, they might be ramping up for a championship run. The hunger to hold a third trophy is definitely strong. The Goats/Chiefs will look to start that run week 6 against the Huskers. The Bulls will look to stay undefeated against a strong Menace squad.

CTS played up to their talent level and won this contest with ease. Duece Richardson would complete 14 of 16 throws for 5 scores and add a rushing TD. The defense saw QB sacks by 4 different players and INT’s by 3 different players. The Shinobi Clan did have a highlight of their own as Allen Johnson completed a 92 yard score to WR Jaren White. The week 6 matchup for CTS will be MHB and the Shinobi Clan will take on the Lightning.

Something that at the end of the day left each and everyone on the team understanding that we are better than the team that showed up in week 5. Slime Boyz Team Rep: All respect to Pat and the Rockers, but the Slime boyz played better this week. We look forward to keeping the momentum. Denver Rockers Team Rep: Records aren't all they are cracked up to be. The Slime Boyz are a young and athletic squad that was hungry for their first win of the season. Our offense was able to move the ball down the field but just couldn't get in the endzone and ended up settling for a couple of field goals. The little mistakes are really tripping us up. We will need to clean those mistakes up if we wanna compete with the top teams.

Carnage Team Rep: Carnage played well on both sides creating frustration for the Grizzlies offense and also hit some big plays on their defense. Containing Dero is no easy task, but the game plan going in held up. Denver Grizzlies Team Rep: We played hard but made some critical mistakes. Carnage has some veteran talent and a lot of team speed. We will make some minor tweaks and be ready to go against an Empire this week!

Mile High Mana Team Rep: We started off a bit slow and struggled to get points on the board in the first half. Come second half the offense was able to make some adjustments and get in the end zone. Defense played lights out the entire game! Next week is a big week for us. We are looking forward to the matchup. Muddogs Team Rep: We started off hot but couldn't keep it rolling as the game went on. We struggled offensively to get any momentum and kept getting stalled out. Defensively, we adjusted too late. We just have to play better.

CODE OF CONDUCT/FINE/PENALTIES REMINDER REMINDER: It is on the team captains to make sure their players know the rules and follow them. There is absolutely NO FIGHTING. Doing so will result in HEAVY fines and suspensions. The rules are there for a reason. If fights happen then we may lose the rights to play on the amazing fields, we have. Also, after each game the sidelines will be checked to make sure the trash has been cleaned up. Fines will be implemented to teams that leave their sidelines trashed. So please clean up after yourselves and your fans. Let's have good sportsmanship and have a great season.
