Know the Reason Chef Hats Today chef hats has worn due to many reasons, starts from hygiene reasons to even to distinct a person from another, chef hats will give a great appearance. Pleats of chef hat could signify the chef’s level of experience. A variety of chef hats are now available based on chef’s choice. Nowadays the disposable chef hats are more popular due to the hygienic reasons. Chef hats are good to use one hat for a day. Highly absorbent nonwoven chef hats are good to use in high temperature work places.

How Many Pleats Do Your chef hat has? Pleats, too, are steeped in a rich history. Their origin came from the idea that the more experience a chef had, the more pleats his hat had. A pleat could also signify a technique or recipe he had mastered.

Why should we wear Gloves? People often wear different type of gloves without knowing the reason. Glove is used as a biological barrier to avoid contamination. In food industry it is a must to wear gloves. Need to make sure that the selected gloves should undergoes an over all migration test (OMT) that should make sure that the migration of foreign particles from gloves to food is within the allowed limits. certainly are useful, but they are not magical. Many people have the mindset that if they have gloves on, the food they prepare will always be safe. However, gloves can become contaminated just as easily as a worker’s hands. If food workers don’t wash their hands before putting on gloves or don’t put gloves on properly, the gloves could be contaminated.

Gloves Must Be Changed Often Since gloves can become contaminated very easily, they must be changed often. They may only be used for one task and must be discarded if damaged or if the worker is interrupted during their task.

Difference between examination gloves and Medical examination gloves: Many people do not know which gloves to be used in different industries. Many often reject one another without knowing the reason. Medical gloves will undergo the tests required for medical industry like pinhole test that will make sure the leakage of gloves. Where as food industry gloves have to undergo tests like OMT. Basically wearing glove is precaution step. Although natural rubber latex is comfortable and typically promotes better dexterity, gloves containing this material are not recommended for meat processing operations since the proteins in the meat will break down the latex in a matter of hours. Synthetic nitrile is a better choice for these environments.

Selecting the right work glove for the right application can help food processors and handlers improve worker safety and productivity while ensuring that food is safe and reducing costs.

The Correct Hand Protection Comfort is probably one of the most important factors when selecting hand protection products to promote worker safety. If the gloves are not comfortable and are not designed for the task, workers will be less likely to wear them and may prefer to work barehanded, which can make them more susceptible to injury and can expose food products to contamination. Several factors contribute to glove comfort, including fit, flexibility, dexterity and tactile sensitivity. Advancements in materials and glove manufacturing processes have resulted in hand protection products that are lightweight and ergonomically correct. Some coated gloves are dipped on forms with curved fingers that conform to the actual shape of the hand for improved ergonomics and greater comfort.

Shoe Covers Come in many shapes and sizes for a variety of applications. Choosing the proper shoe cover depends on the work you will be doing and the work place

environment. Do you need shoe covers to be anti-skid or non-slip? Should your shoe covers be made to fit over regular shoes or boots as well? What are the work regulations regarding protective shoe covers? All of these questions will need to be addressed in order to ascertain which protective shoe covers you will need and when you will need to wear them. There are many industries that use disposable shoe covers. Disposable shoe covers should also be changed out as employees move from one room to another. Hospitals are perhaps one of the most well known workplaces where employees are required to wear protective shoe covers. However, industrial settings such as paint shops, also require employees to wear protective shoe covers. The idea is to protect not only your shoes from damage, but to protect the workplace from debris that you can track in with your shoes. When you walk from where you parked you car to the workplace, you walk across dirt and grime which can stick to your shoes and be carried inside. Sensitive machines can be damaged by excess debris, so protective shoe coverings are worn to minimize that risk.

Head Wears Food handlers should maintain a high degree of personal cleanliness and, where appropriate, wear suitable protective clothing, head covering, and footwear. Cuts and wounds, where personnel are permitted to continue working, should be covered by suitable dressings. Having said all that it is certainly best practice to wear hairnets or mobcaps so they cover the ears and thereby cover as much hair as possible. People working in the food industry use nonwoven facemasks to prevent the transmission of viruses through food.
