Tropic Star Lodge is home to an abundant fishery, with a wide variety of celebrated species biting throughout the year. Fishing grounds are under 5 miles from the Lodge, and the famous Zane Grey Reef is in our backyard. There are few places in the world you can release Black Marlin, Blue Marlin and Sailfish in a single day to achieve a Grand Slam - this is one of them!

Black Marlin Season

Jan - Feb

This time of year, Marlin fishing at Tropic Star is like no where else on earth. The fishing grounds start at under 5 miles from the Lodge. The famous Zane Grey Reef is in our backyard and the fish that it hosts are incredible. Expect Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, massive Yellowfin Tuna, 100lb + Sailfish and monster Dorado. This ain't our peak season for nothing!

Inshore season

March - May

With 17+ Inshore species, our Inshore school, and an award-winning Roosterfish Tournament, this season brings non-stop action. Grouper, Snapper species (including the coveted Cuberra Snapper) Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Bluefin Trevalley and even Tarpon can be found in the waters of Piñas during this season. Billfish can even make an appearance in early March / Late June.

Blue Marlin season

June - Sept & Dec

This season has a little of everything. The offshore bite is going strong with Black Marlin and Blue Marlin being released. The Sailfish start off strong, and wind down as the season progresses, but the Dorado and Tuna keep getting better in size and number. Inshore, Roosterfish patrol the rocks as do the Cubera Snapper. December is the best month to get an offshore grand slam.
