‘Happy’ Lane Tap. Tap. Tap. the sound of tapping echoed throughout the dark and foggy street. Two figures walked through the thick fog, one with a nimble and slender figure and the other with a tall and muscular figure. Tip tap, tip tap. I approached a house in terrible condition. The paint was chipping, the wood on the door looked as if a beast had tried to break it. We were on our way to open the door, and what we saw on the other side was not for the faint of heart. Mary Wellington was the one who had been shot in the head. It appears that the killer wanted to make sure she was dead. Her body was dragged to this abandoned house. She lives in Happy Lane, 118. She was well known around the neighborhood, she had a…bad reputation. Why? Well, she would often randomly go up to others and just bully them no matter who they were. If they tried to fight back, she would just beat them up. She looked muscular with the right shade of tan as if she went to the gym every day, and she did. If something bad happened to her at the gym or somewhere else she went up to someone and beat them till they couldn’t get up. Everyone was scared of her. Nobody approached her, no one could. The motives for killing her are reasonable. She threw trash on the streets all the time. Why does she beat up people? Nobody knows, not even me, I guess she just had the time to spare, there are many rumors. I think she had a bad past and let all her rage out on other people.

One of the detectives’ is Remedy Rhythm. I am the detective’s best friend/partner. I carry all the tools. I wear a navy blue coat that reaches to my ankles. I always have my hands in my pocket to grab my tools quickly if there is any danger. I wear a red scarf that stands out from the rest of my attire. I am tall and muscular, though my appearance may be scary but I'm kind of a puppy at heart. Unless you truly cross me. This is the detective that actually solves the mystery. Dany Serenity, he is very smart and observant, though he is nimble and weak. That’s why Remedy is with him. She’s like a big sister to him. He always wears a cloth fedora hat when he’s on a case, no one knows why no one wants to know why. He has a mustache and a pair of brown glasses. He wears a beige coat that barely scrapes the ground and an inky brown belt around his waist above the coat. His shoes make a tapping sound with each step he takes. He takes out a file about all the Suspects.

Here is Suspect A: Quart Rosetta Mary’s neighbor, she had always hated Mary because she would target her son(Quart’s son) and beat him up whenever she saw him. He would return home barely walking and all bloody. She had wanted to get revenge for a very long time now, maybe she had the

chance now. She is very clumsy and has a poorly done nail with glitter on it, so wherever she goes it leaves a glittery track. CLUE: Glitter on the grounds of the abandoned house. The glitter led a track from Quart’s house to Mary’s house, then to the abandoned house. The glitter was a hot pink color.

Here is suspect B: Misery Wineshot, Mary’s maid. She would be beaten if she made a little mistake, but she could not quit because she needed the money for her mother. She said one day “Once I get the money and pay for mom’s surgery, I’m getting my payback. I SWEAR!” Quite suspicious if you ask me. She would be seen wearing the same pair of black heels every day. The pattern at the bottom of the shoes is very distinct, it’s a rose pattern at the bottom of the heels. CLUE: The pattern of the dust at the abandoned house was the rose pattern the same as the ones that Misery has on her shoes Here is suspect C: Navin Samson, The one who cleans the streets. She hates Mary because she just makes her job so much harder each day. She doesn’t get good sleep either because she has to pick up all the garbage or she won’t get paid. She works her butt off and doesn’t even get paid that much and she can’t even quit her job because there are no other jobs available. She carries a broom on her back and it leaves scratch marks on the ground. CLUE: Scratch marks were also found on the ground of the abandoned house. The scratch marks were probably her doing is she did kill the victim Here is Suspect D: Enji Rosetta, the son of Quartz Rosetta. He is very weak, nimble, and tall, he can't defend himself, so whenever Mary starts to beat him up he can’t do anything about it at all. He would walk home bloodied up and can barely walk. Now you know the true power of those beatings. He felt sorry for his mom because she was always so worried, when he comes back late sometimes she would be in a panic. Maybe she thought that if he didn't come home that day he was dead. He carries a charm around his necklace because that was the last thing his dad gave him. CLUE: the charm was found lying about in the abandoned house. NOTE*it was unscathed, it looked new even. Wouldn’t it have been a little scratched? Imagining it dropped.* “ Alright then let's go question the suspects on this case,” I said. We started walking toward the Rosetta’s residence. Once we reached the door we saw the hot pink glitter on the ground. We rang the doorbell. DING DONG. We heard footsteps getting louder and louder, then the door slowly creaked open. “Hello… Are you guys the detectives?” the person muttered. It was Quarts Rosetta who answered the door. “Hi I'm Remedy and this is Dany, we’re the detectives working on the Mary Wellington case. Are you

Quarts Rosetta? We have reason to believe that you shot Mary Wellington last night.” I said in a stern voice. Quarts wasn’t shocked that Mary died, she just acted very surprised when we said that we suspected her. She said loudly, “You think I did it?! She deserved it, yes, but I would never do something so horrendous!” She quickly slammed the door in front of our face. “Well, that was rude,” I whispered under my breath. Dani stated, “C’mon let's go to the other houses then we'll come back here to talk with Enji.” “Alright..'' I replied.

We then walked across the street to the next house. We reached Mary’s house to go see her maid, Misery Wineshot. We saw no doorbell so we knocked on the door. Knock, knock, knock. Misery Wineshot opened the door. She looked sad and gloomy, her head was facing the ground. I announced, "We are the detectives working on the Wellington case, and we are here to ask you some questions." She looked up at us and muttered something, I couldn't understand what she was saying. So I continued, "Uhh.. We have reason to believe that you killed Mary Wellington last night. It seems like you said that you wanted to get your revenge." She stayed silent. It was like she was processing what we just said. She responded, “I- It can’t be me, I don't even h- have the money yet and I only said that as a joke, I would N- NEVER kill anyone!” "Goodbye." She gently closed the door. "Alright, let's go to the next house," instructed Dany. "She was kind of acting weird, don't you think? She was stuttering a lot, and she took a long time to say something," I commented. Dany added, "We shouldn't assume who it is just yet, that isn't the way to solve this case." I replied, "Yeah, you're right. I shouldn't assume who it is just yet." We reached the next house, Navin Samson's house. We rang the doorbell, no answer. We decided to knock, no answer. We both knocked and rang the doorbell, and we heard crashing sounds. Soon, Navin answered the door. She was smiling and had a rake on her back as always, but it looked cleaner than it should be. "Hello, we are the detectives on the Wellington case. We are here to ask you some questions. We have reason to believe that you killed Mary Wellington last night," Dany announced. Her smile faded. She argued, “My rake disappeared yesterday! I didn't even have it yesterday!!” She then let out a little growl and slammed the door right in our face. BAM! "Woah! That almost hit me, lady!!" I yelled. We had to wait a while for Quarts to go to work, so we could go back to their house. We walked over and rang the doorbell again. Hopefully it was Enji walking over, it was. I announced, "We are the detectives working on the Wellington case, and we are here to ask you some questions." Enji was nervous, but he didn't look nervous about the dead. He was holding his charm so tight in his hands. I asked, "Why are you holding your charm so tightly?" He looked at me and said, "My charm was missing yesterday and I'm so worried that it might happen again. I can't let it slip away anymore." Bless his heart, that was the last thing his father ever gave him. "And about the murder?" Dany

asked “I couldn’t even find my charm yesterday afternoon, I don't know how it got there but it wasn’t me I swear!” he closed the door and gripped his charm even tighter now. "Poor kid, he definitely didn't do this. "You're right," Dani agreed, "he didn't do it. While we were talking to him I saw his charm, it wasn't scratched. It wasn't him. We started walking around and asking about Navin's 'alibis'. One person said that it was true Navin didn't have her rake yesterday but there was a new rake on her back. I thought it was suspicious that she had a new rake on her. We went up to her again on the street, and we brought her in to question her about the murder. As we were questioning her, she started getting really nervous, like sweaty nervous. I had an idea. I said to her in a threatening tone, " I know everything and if you don't start talking you will lose your job and a life sentence is coming right your way." "I-I-I… just I just..COULDN'T DEAL WITH IT ANYMORE!!! SHE WAS JUST SO I JUST KILLED HER!!! SHE ALWAYS MADE ME DO SO MUCH WORK. I NEVER GOT ANY SLEEP AND MY PAY WAS HORRIBLE!" Navin quickly closed her mouth, she just realized what she said. "What a big mistake you have made," Dany said snickering, “Oh my, it seems that we didn't even need to question around. This was too easy.” Navin started to cry out, “Please no.. PLEASE!! Please…Please..Please don’t send me to jail, PLEASE!” She put her hands together and started praying. “I’m begging you, please,” Navin begged. “No,” a voice uttered. Navin looked in utter shock, she looked up and the stare Dany gave her pierced her soul. As we were putting her in handcuffs, she was screaming and crying. Finally, we arrested her and put her in jail. “I think I might be deaf in one ear,” I complained to Dany. He replied, “Don't be so overdramatic.” I said, “Fine, fine, but don’t blame me if it's true.” He sighed, “It's not.”
