Ajoy Ghatak is a physicist and author of well-known physics textbooks. He is currently Professor and Meghnad Saha Fellow at he National Academy of Sciences, India. He is a former Professor of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Professor Ghatak obtained his PhD from the Cornell University. He is a recipient of the 2008 SPIE Educator Award, the 2003 Optical Society of America Esther Hoffman Beller Award, the International Commission for Optics 1998 Galileo Galilei Award and also the 1979 CSIR S. S. Bhatnagar award for his outstanding contributions in the physical sciences. K. yagarajan is Professor of Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He obtained his PhD from IIT Delhi and has also held visiting positions at various institutions across the world. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and of the Indian National Academy of Engineers. He is also a member of the Executive Commitee of the Optical Society of India. His current areas of interest are quantum optics, nonlinear optics and guided wave optics.
