Foreword No matter how close the friendship, it’s still a surprise to be asked to write the foreword for a book that is so close to someone’s heart. I am both humbled and honoured to be a  part of A Place Called Home. Every being on the planet has a unique way of looking at life. There may be a whole lot more perspectives on life than there are people on Earth. Each one could be as fascinating to the one who shares it, as much as it is to the one with whom it is shared. Nithya is a multifaceted personality and her bio is really long because of the many amazing gifts, talents and abilities she has been blessed with. Her innate desire to create more and more allows her to explore many different paths in her own inimitable way. This book is one such exploration. You, the reader, will feel as if the content of the book resonates with you in many ways. It may even inspire you to write your own perspective of this incredible blessing called life. All good wishes to the author, the reader and the book. May it be the gift that allows everyone on the planet to know how unique and special they really are!

Preface Have you always felt different and weird? Like an outsider not belonging to any place? Not being able to find someone who understands you? What have you done to try to fit in with the others?

Have you wondered why you were born? Why there is a lot of pain and suffering in life? If life is just too good to be true?

Have you wondered why there is so much war? Why the world is full of judgement? Or why you feel wrong about most things all the time?

Have you felt lost at times? Have you wondered about where you belong?

Have you felt like running away from life? Have you felt like running away from people? Have you felt betrayed by the ones you trusted or those you truly helped?

Preface

Are you at a place where people, whether it be family or friends, no matter how kind they are to you or you are to them, something still does not feel right? That something is missing? If you have come across any of these questions in your life, in this book I attempt to give perspective on these and also help you ask yourself a different set of questions that will open up something greater for you, if you are willing to take that journey. So come with me to start experiencing what you can be and do. None of the above questions are actual questions. They are conclusions we may have made seeing what life has given us. To live a truly empowered life, we must start questioning everything. Lots of gratitude to Gary Douglas, founder of Access Consciousness from where I learnt to use questions to create an empowered life. What if there is really a place for you to belong and be yourself? It does exist. And what if the way you were trying to find it could be changed so that you can figure this out? What if life on Earth is truly beautiful, and what if you could really experience that? For that, first, you have to realise the greatness and gift that you truly are. You were not born without reason or created without any purpose. What if there is a dream within you that is waiting to be unleashed? And what if it isn’t actually a dream, but the person you are? 12

Preface

This book has a lot of questions which are not conclusions and asking these questions consistently with fun and joy can start changing your life. Your thoughts are what create your life. Your thoughts are powerful. So, if you can use them to help yourself by asking questions instead of concluding, you open your self to greater possibilities.

Growing Up After you were born as a baby and were growing up as a child, did you look forward to each day as the sun would rise? Was it really sleep or rest you were looking for back then that you now seek as an adult? Or was it the joy of living and playing and learning that you woke up to with every day? It would have been the joy of living. Babies learn very fast and they don’t learn with just words: they learn by observing everything around them. They understand things beyond words. You do not have to tell them that you are sad, but they can perceive the sadness, bitterness, happiness, etc. Basically, they can sense the energy of the adults around them. There is a time in life where the fun and joy of being a child starts changing. And from the space of joy where you look forward to the sunrise every day and what life has to offer to you, you find yourself moving into a space of wrongness and judgement. This usually would start by you being constantly told not to do something or what you had done was wrong. Also, you would pick up on many others being sad and what many others conclude about their lives. By the time the child becomes seven or eight years old, they would have lost a lot of this joy and are more in a routine of going to school and feeling wrong and trying to do the right things. In this battle of trying to do the right thing and pleasing your parents, you start losing out on who you truly are. Then, your thoughts start solidifying more, and from the open-minded joy, it starts drawing conclusions. 15

Some of us have a longing to belong somewhere, we feel that we do not fit in anywhere and with anyone. Some of us would like to live and be in place of joy, peace, and happiness. This book is intended to expand your space and knowing about life. May you find “A place called home for you” that nurtures you to become who you truly are. “Home is not just a place, it is the space you can be. Be that space for yourself and everyone around. Whoever seeks your shelter, let them in. Whoever chooses to leave, let them be. Whoever leaves and reconnects, welcome them back, You can choose this, irrespective of what anyone else chooses.”
