1 School and Boards Life, this is a perfect word to describe the golden period of childhood. Roaming fearlessly with friends, a lot of playtime with them without any worry. Childhood is the best period of whole life, isn’t it? But the life after this stage becomes a fight. A fight with people, bosses, time and sometimes a fight with yourself too which is not easy. I’m Ayansh, a boy from a middle-class family of Alambagh, Lucknow whose only dream is to be a doctor and help as many people as I can. It is my desire to help the needy people, because the medical facilities are very bad in my locality. A lot of people suffer due to lack of treatment. So, I just wanted to fix them all. Now obviously you all were must be thinking that from where I got this desire of helping others. So this all came to my mind from my grandfather and father. My grandfather is retired from Indian Army and my father is still serving Bharat Mata in Indian Army. I always kept staring my father and grandfather that how they are serving the nation and from here it came to my mind I should also help people, but through different way, by becoming a doctor and treating the needy ones. 1

MY NOT SO PERFECT LIFE th

Things were going well. Life was amazing. Till class 9 I was performing good at school and my parents were happy th with me. But in class 10 , I just stepped in a new world, the world of Facebook. Facebook was very young at that time. I always kept wandering on Facebook to make new friends and talking with them. I started spending most of my time on Facebook as a result my books and studies were sidelined. Gradually Facebook took control over my brain and nerve cells and only thing that I wanted was to make new friends specially some female friends. However, never in life, I had guts to utter even a single “Hi” to a girl. But Facebook gave me courage of that level. Anyway, that was the routine of every single day of that time. As the time passed, I forced myself to keep a distance from Facebook and concentrated my mind towards study th because my class 10 board exam was on the way. th Class 10 board exam is the first stage of our educational life. After this stage, everyone goes out of their way to fulfil their dreams and desire. There were total 6 people in our friend group during schooldays. I, Rishav, Manas, Arjun, Saurya and Prashant. Our group was very famous in school both in evil world and in studies too. Among all of them, Rishav was closer to me. His dream was to be an Aerospace Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and mine was to be a Cardiologist. th Everything was going great. We finished our 10 boards. th It was 10 of May, Rishav called me suddenly. “Bro, today our result is going to be declare.” Rishav told me After hearing this, I was just shocked. It was first time in life when I got understood the real meaning of being tensed. Rishav called me again in evening.

“Ayansh, the result is out but the website is crashing. I’m here in the cyber cafe, come fast.” “Bro I’m already very scared, can you please keep yourself quiet. Hold on, I’m coming. I’m on the way.” I said I reached cyber cafe. It was highly crowded. It seemed that someone is distributing money, and everyone is gathered here to grab it. After trying a lot, finally the website opened. At such critical situation we usually start bribing god. I thought too and prayed the god for good marks. After praying and bribing the god, we both checked our result. I got 9.6 CGPA and Rishav got 9.4 CGPA. After seeing our result, we both were getting mad. We were very happy. At that moment it seemed as if both of us had won a battle. But we didn’t understand that this was just a small beginning. We didn’t know that the real battle was about to begin, a battle that will keep going till we are alive.

2 Study and Failure th

After 10 board result, we all started our journey to fulfill our dreams. Rishav went Kota for the preparation of JEE. th I took admission in DMS School in Alambagh for 11 and th 12 as a non-attending student. At that time there were two th options after 10 , first is attending and other is nonattending. In non-attending, students are not required to visit school for classes. So, I also took admission as a nonattending candidate and joined an institute for the preparation of NEET. I had my first class there on May 17. Institute was about 8 to 9 km away from my house. I was very excited for my first class. Apart from the preparation of NEET I was more excited because there will be new place, there will be new friends, there will be new environment for upcoming 2 years. And who knows, may I find someone who will stay forever with me. After joining the institute, I befriended a boy named “Saransh Verma”. He was a nice guy having a height of about 6 ft and well groomed. As the days passed, our friendship grew deeper. There was a very strange thing in Verma, his Physics was unexceptionally very good. I called it strange 4

because generally the Physics of medical students is not good, like mine was. A chain of classes and studies started there. I too started studying very diligently so that I could get admission in medical college. Two years was about to complete. It was the month of th February. 12 board exam was going to be held next month, but this time there was not much fear. th Gradually time passed and 12 examination also passed very well. Now the next step was NEET which was going to be held in May. Now only 2 months were left. I started preparation for NEET with full of excitement and joy. There was fear and happiness in my mind as well. As time passed, the month of May also came. NEET was th going to held on 5 of May. I had been allotted my examination center in Kanpur. th It was 5 of May, I got up at 4 in the morning and was all set to go to the examination center. I leave my home and it took me about 3 hours to get there at the examination center. After the 3-hour examination was over, all the candidates left for their home. I also boarded the bus and left Kanpur to go to my home. After boarding in the bus, I called my mother. “Maa, my examination has finished and I am on the way to Alambagh.” I said I came home in 2.5 hours. Now the wait was for the result, which was going to release a month later on June 5. Days passed and gradually the day of result also came. June 5, the day when my future was going to be decided. I was about to know if I would get a medical college. It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon, when I came to know that the result of NEET has declared. After hearing this news, I 5

became very numb. I stopped my breathe and checked my result. My All India Ranking was 110321. After seeing this, my senses were blown away. I was surprised to see how I get so high rank. It was impossible to get a college at such a worst rank. Two years of hard work and money that was spent in preparation, all wasted. We always live in life thinking that what we want, will happen, then after that we will do so and so. We never think that in future, if it didn’t happen as we have planned, then what will our next step. We have no way to fight with failure in life. I also always used to think that I shall give examination, I shall get good ranks and then I shall get admission in medical college. But I have never thought that if it does not happen, then what will I do? I told my mother about my results and started crying. One of the great things about my mother and my father was that in such situations they would never scold us, they always elaborate us to be positive in life.

3 Someone special knocked in my life After not performing good in examination, I started preparing for NEET once again. This time again I took admission in Alambagh itself, but in another institute, Chaudhary Classes. Once again, with the same enthusiasm, with the same courage, with the same joy, I set out to fulfil my dreams. This time there was more passion in me than last time, to get a medical college because I had failed once and now did not wanted to fail again. Just then, I started preparing for war once again. But at that time, I did not know that this Chaudhary classes would take such a big turn in my life. Well what was that turn and what happened, you will understand yourself further. My class started. I didn’t talk much to anyone there. There were only 4-5 people whom I used to talk to. I used to pay attention to my studies only because this time I was stubborn to take admission in medical college. Meanwhile, I had 4 very good friends there. Aryan, Shilpa, Juhi and Simran. The most bizarre thing in this was that 3 of my friends were girls and one was a boy. I called 7
