Authors Note on 2nd Edition The first version was released in March 2017 and experienced unprecedented success as it was amongst the first in detailing the cozy relationships that exist between corporates, bureaucrats and politicians in India. It was beyond my expectations (the Kindle version was the second highest selling self-published book in India in 2017) and since then a lot has happened that needs to be documented. The role of some venal ministers in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) has since come to light and is detailed here. With more data coming out because of the raids and exposures, the story is more complete in this version. For those who read the first version, you now know how the missing dots are connected. For the first timer, this is a treasure trove of the unholy nexus that exists between Babus, Businessmen and Bent (3B) politicians. NDTV is not an isolated case of the nexus that exists between the 3 Bs. This sordid saga of “skullduggery, treachery and venality” which weaves in and out of the “boardrooms to bedrooms” will make your blood boil. The promoters of NDTV along with key top management colluded over the years with government functionaries and politicians to break laws, evade taxes, launder proceeds of crime and deceive shareholders of a public listed company. Enjoying complete political patronage; NDTV spun the narrative with slick programming and moralistic preaching while indulging, all through, in illegal acts.

What is in the 2nd Edition NDTV Frauds was released in five cities across the world – London, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Member of Rajya Sabha, Dr. Subramanian Swamy presided over the events in all the five cities. Noted commentator, non-Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India and Editor of Thuglak, Swaminathan Gurumurthy released the book in Chennai. Several notable authors such as Prof. R. Vaidyanathan, Madhu Kishwar and M.R. Venkatesh graced the book release events in various cities. The book has been appreciated by the literati & the intelligentsia alike and it was humbling to note that by February 2018 the entire print of the 1st edition was sold out and the book had run out of print. Online sales continue to be brisk. Since March 2017, a lot has happened that vindicates as well as augments the description in my book of the diabolical frauds committed by NDTV and its owners in concert with complicit Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers patronized by the political class of the day; more notably the then Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram (PC) & worse; his friends in the changed political dispensation. The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has upheld what the book reported & the Delhi High Court, the 2nd highest Constitutional Court in India; has rejected the objections of NDTV over tax-evasion inquiry. Similarly, the Supreme Court of India has declined to stay inquiries over money-laundering and tax-evasion by NDTV. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the federal

investigating agency akin to the FBI of USA has registered criminal cases against owners of NDTV over cheating while Enforcement Directorate (ED) has registered cases of moneylaundering. The Indian Revenue Service (IRS) has completed inquiries indicting NDTV of large-scale tax-evasion & money-laundering while the investor confidence in NDTV has reached its nadir. Encouraged by the release of the book, several persons have come forward with lot more incriminating details which certainly would make an interesting read and help expose and cleanse the rot having set in the electronic media in India. The dubious role of Minister P.Chidambaram in persecuting an honest and upright IRS officer S.K. Srivastava for his efforts to enforce the law stands bare for anyone and everyone to see. The conduct of female IRS officers Shumana Sen (IRS 99005) and Ashima Neb (IRS 99010), who faked sexual harassment against S.K. Srivastava in lieu of money paid to them by NDTV is described in detail. These are being incorporated in the 2nd edition of the book as new and additional chapters. Introduction THE BEST LAID PLANS…

It was the winter of 1944. Hitler was losing the war and there were not many bullets left to fire. He had planned a last hurrah on the Allied forces and that was to race the German mechanized columns through France to cut her in two; reach behind the American lines and squeeze the Allied forces to restore German pride. He picked his best Tank Commander [Col. Joachim Peiper], perhaps the best Tank Commander of 2nd World War for the task. Peiper was certainly better than the overstuffed and obese Patton having the luxury of tying gasoline drums on top of his Sherman tanks in addition to his overflowing fuel tanks. Hitler equipped Peiper with his best machines [Tiger II, the King Tiger] but Fuehrer had forgotten to provision for refueling enroute. The fuel guzzling Tiger II Tanks and the beleaguered Colonel Piper had to burn his 700 Tanks and beat a hasty retreat through mud & snow with the surviving 800 men to cross a frozen Rhine to reach German lines abandoning the “last man last bullet” command of Fuehrer. The Battle of the Bulge details this struggle vividly. General Ayub Khan (Pakistan) with all his assumed & cultivated arrogance learnt an expensive lesson during the 1965 war with India. Despite his boast that he would have “breakfast at Lahore”, “lunch at Jalandhar” & “dinner at Delhi” he had not factored in the fact that India would fight and fight so ferociously as to make his Pakistani troops wail “Bade Imam mare gaye (The Big guy has been killed)”. Rarely in the world does one see the lowest ranks of an army scalping a serving General. Yet grenadiers Shafiq, Naushad & Suleiman of the 4th Grenadiers of Indian Army did exactly

that. In a single burst they took out Major General Nasir Ahmad Khan, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1st Armoured Division & his second-in-command Brigadier A.R. Shamim, Commander, Artillery Brigade, 1st Armoured Division. The Pakistan Army could retrieve the dead body of Major General Nasir Ahmad Khan only because the Indians ran short of ammunition. But the widow of Pakistani Brigadier Shamim had to beg, under the white flag, to Indian Commanding Officer, Lt. Colonel H.R. Janu, for the dead body of her husband, late Brigadier Shamim. The moral of the story: the best laid out plans fail in the face of heroism of some un-factored men and events. Capt. Mahendranath Mulla of Indian Navy did not abandon his ship as no Captain would leave behind the men he commanded. He went down with INS Khukri on December 9, 1971, as the men were stuck alive in its bowels several decks below water level. Had Lieutenant General A.A.K. Niazi, interestingly the uncle of present Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan Niazi been an honourable man; he would have put the revolver which he famously surrendered to General Jagjit Singh Arora of Indian army to his temple & shot himself. But rarely do the crooks & slimes behave honourably & had Pakistan Army been an honourable one, it would have taught cashiered Niazi to die like a man than live like a rogue; cashiered, stripped of rank and decoration, and denied of his military pension. Accept your defeat, bear the consequences and move on. That is what honourable people do. But Prannoy Roy, the founderpromoter of NDTV and his “hidden hand” benefactor, Mr. P. Chidambaram, refuse to admit their malfeasance committed by NDTV and continue to roam free as if they did nothing wrong. 14

NDTV – A Rs.5000 CRORE FRAUD

The Rs.5,000 crores NDTV scam collapsed despite the diabolical plans of Prannoy Roy and the chicanery of Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram because neither factored in the grit and tenacity of an upright officer, Sanjay Kumar Srivastava of Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and the minority shareholder Sanjay Dutt and his company Quantum Securities Pvt. Ltd. The elaborate web of lies spun by NDTV and its promoters by layering money through tax havens to launder money into India – to build a fake narrative, demonizing a few at the behest of others while preaching morals to the public is a feat of NDTV, that is, perhaps unmatched in the history of India. Using unscrupulous individuals who were willing to play along for a few pieces of silver such as IRS officers Shuman Sen, Ashima Neb, B.K. Jha, etc., the promoters of NDTV Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy used every trick in the book to shame and put pressure on IRS Officer Srivastava. Nothing was beyond them (IRS officers) – even the fake sexual harassment charges against their own colleague (Srivastava). Worse their relatives were happy to collude – husband Abhisar Sharma (for Shumana Sen) and mother Neeta Neb for Ashima Neb. WHOSE MONEY WAS IT?

Was NDTV used as a conduit to launder illegal black money from proceeds of crime and bribe paid to P. Chidambaram by American Multinational Corporation General Electric? Not stopping at laundering alone, company also evaded taxes by bribing corrupt IRS officers such as Shumana Sen and Ashima Neb with active support from some others such as P.K. Mishra (IRS 1970), B.K. Jha (IRS 1983), S.S. Rana (IRS 1975), Prakash Chandra (IRS 1973), etc. This diabolical attempt failed despite fake suits of sexual harassment, molestation, sexual assault and repeated rapes by hired mercenaries Shumana Sen and 15
