CUET EXPLAINER
CUET EXPLAINER What is CUET? CUET CUET The
stands for Common University Entrance Test. is to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Common University Entrance Test (CUET), earlier Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is an all-India test being organized for admissions to various Integrated/Under-Graduate, Post Graduate and Research Programmes in the participating Central Universities of India.
Why CUET? In order to unify the distinct mechanism of admissions into the UG and PG programmes
of Central Universities of India, CUET has been introduced for the session 2022-23. Now each candidate gets the equality of opportunity to get admitted in his/her university of choice, which was not available before 2022 to the aspirants due to immense weightage of class 12th marks. No weightage to class XII marks. As there are various Central/State examination Boards in India with non-uniform examination patterns and marking schemes, many students were deprived of taking admissions into their dream university based on 12th standard scores till 2022.
The CUET ends the subject related bias. Till date a student with excellent score in Physics
but low scores in Chemistry and Maths was not eligible for admission in the desired course and the University. Now a student can take an exam based on his/her domain subject. Now the chaos of very popular system of cut-off of some universities of repute seems to meet an end. No doubt, CUET will have its own way of competitiveness. One Syllabus – One Test. No place for writing multiple entrance exams for various universities. Whether Class 12th Board Marks will be Considered or not? As
per the University Grants Commission (UGC) notice, Class 12 board examination marks will not have any bearing on the admission of the students.
Will there be Common Counselling For All Central Universities Which Are Participating LQ&8(7RU&RXQVHOOLQJZLOOEH8QLYHUVLW\6SHFL¿F" Central
universities will admit students in undergraduate courses based on their performance in the common universities entrance test (CUET) but there will be no common counselling for seat allotment in these institutions. CUGG–7
CUET EXPLAINER
Is CUET Practicable For the Disadvantaged Students From Marginalised and Rural backgrounds? Yes,
CUET is practicable for the disadvantaged students from marginalised and rural backgrounds as students get chance to prove their ability through common entrance test across the country. Moreover, most of the disadvantaged students from marginalised and rural backgrounds complete their 12th standard from their state boards and every board has its own way of marking scheme so, “COMMON ENTRANCE” is a great oppourtinity for all those students. CUCET 2022 will be conducted in various languages, a larger number of students, especially those from rural areas, needn’t deal with any language barrier. Students are not required to use the keyboard. They would have to choose the right option using only the mouse after solving the question on paper with pen. So, in computerbased examination the accessibility of computers when it comes to rural students is not a matter of concern. Are Students Whose 12th Results are in Waiting, Eligible for CUET ? Yes,
the students who are waiting for their class 12 th results can apply for CUET, but at the time of admission they would have to submit their result before the admission committee/university whosoever is the designated authority.
Can Previous Year Students Apply for CUET 2022? Yes, UGC has made it clear that if a university allows students who have cleared class 12
exams in recent past to take admissions in 2022 session, then they can apply for CUET 2022 too.
