Author

Shweta Gupta is an enthusiastic and a budding artist. She works with different mediums such as poster colours, oil pastels and wax crayons, pencil shading, etc. Her focus is on different subjects like still life, nature, portraits, designs, abstracts, free hand drawing etc. based on different themes and ideas. Since childhood, she had the inclination towards art which made her pursue and practice the same. She has received various awards for her paintings and works of art during her school days. One of her artistic dreams came true when Shweta organized her first painting exhibition (solo artworks) titled ‘Random Thoughts’ on 6 March 2011 in the Experimental Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, Delhi where she exhibited about 25 artworks. Painting is like meditation for her and she considers drawing and painting to be her biggest passions in life. For Shweta, art has always given her a rejuvenating spirit during every stage of the life.

Introduction

My Colourful Mind is a collection of paintings made by Shweta Gupta over a period of time. These include her artworks in water colour on paper, wax crayon on paper, pencil shading, etc. The paintings are in the bold, light, pastel and contrast colours and portray the variations in life and nature both in literal and metaphorical sense. They are abstract and concept-based paintings and are a reflection of random thoughts in a human mind.

Love and Friendship Description One cannot differentiate between the “love of passion” and the “love of faith”. The two emotions have been depicted through the representation of Lord Krishna divided between the love of Radha (love of passion) and Meera (love of faith). Both women love Krishna equally and no one can ever weigh or differentiate as to who loves more. Each one of them is true to their feelings. Radha is depicted through the vibrant colours of red and yellow while Meera is represented through the subtle and pastel shades of white and mustard highlighting the peace, calm and humility in her character.

Samgita Description A simple representation of the interpretation of Lord Shiva’s teachings as to how human beings attain meditation through three methods of dancing, singing and drumming. Measurements – 23.5x16.5 (inches) Medium – Poster colours Material - Paper

Hell, and Heaven Description It depicts that man is a reflection of his/her thoughts and both hell and heaven reside in the human mind. So, it’s the human being’s choice, what he/she wants to think and what he/she wants to become. The bright colours and fruits of the tree reflect the flourishing side while the dull side reveals the opposite. Measurements – 23.5x16.5 (inches) Medium – Poster colours Material - Paper

Inside Outside Description The painting depicts how the human being’s soul impacts the human body. The black colour shows negativity while the white colour shows positivity. It explains that if the soul is pure and calm, no impurity can change it while if the soul is restless, nothing can calm it except the soul itself.
