FOREWORD What is dowsing? Dowsing can be thought of as a direct line of communication to your own superconscious mind. A pendulum receives information from the deeper wiser parts of the brain, that knows all things. This information in the form of Yes/No questions is simply reflected in small muscle movements in the arm and hand to move the pendulum. It is more commonly known as Divination. But you can go beyond the limitation of Yes/No questions by using charts containing various options. What is dowsing used for? Dowsing is used as a tool for asking questions, giving advice, making decisions and making a selection from a list of options regarding relationship, career, success or failure, for finding a missing person, for measuring the aura, for inspection of chakras, for physical, mental or other disorders, for find the energy of a house, etc etc. It is used by astrologers, Reiki healers, homeopaths, aryuvedacharyas, Bach Flower Remedies Therapist, Mudra Therapist, Sujok Therapist, and a host of healers. I am a teacher and have been teaching various Holistic Sciences for the past more than 2 decades. Usually I provide study material to the students. ART OF DOWSING Introduction to Dowsing Dowsing or Divining is one such method to receive intuitive replies form pendulum by reaching beyond the limitations of known knowledge. Everything in Nature is surrounded by energy fields that can be detected with dowsing. Dowsing is defined as the study of energy of field by a person. Remember everything in the universe is energy and dowsing relies on interpreting our physical reactions to this energy. In dowsing we are identifying those energies that impact on us and can be interpreted physiologically. The dowsing instruments we use give us a physical manifestation of the impact and allow an intention. It is the ability to use the Natural Sensitivity, which we all possess, that enables us to know things, to seek for and locate things which we cannot know or do by using the day to day brain, or by learning, or by 1

experience, or by using the five physical senses which we are born with. Dowsing enables us to work at any distance around the world from the comfort of our own home. History of dowsing To understand its history it is necessary to explore global developments, some science and your own feelings. Dowsing is a subject which you can do professionally. This lesson highlights, in a few words, the history of dowsing and what it is. There is reference to some definitions and mention of a few of the many prominent researchers involved. There are many books, which have lots of information on general and specific dowsing subjects such as dowsing castles or ancient sites. There are some books just about water dowsing or some about the physics, biology and chemistry of dowsing. It is difficult to know how old dowsing is even by the dowsing skill. However, cave drawings exist from as far back as 30,000 years which appear to depict dowsing. In addition, there are debatable references in the Bible appearing to describe dowsing. In Elizabethan times dowsers were brought from Austria to England to find metals and water. Many people can dowse even without any coaching and some can do with little coaching. 2

ART OF DOWSING What can be done by Dowsing? There is very little in the physical world which cannot be found by dowsing and there is much, in addition, that can be found out once you have developed, by practice and perseverance, your individual dowsing skills. Distance, depth, height, date, location seem to make no difference. The following list gives an idea of the many and varied fields to which dowsing can be applied - and this is by no means exhaustive. Water: The location of underground streams at any depth, their direction of flow, their depth, the quality of the water and what quantity could be drawn off in, say, gallons per hour or day etc. The location of springs or a well in your neighbour’s garden that has fallen into disuse - and much more. Minerals - Precious Stones: The location, demarcation and identification of the area, the line of the minerals, depth and estimating the quantity and the quality. Oil - Gas: The location of oil deposits under the land or the sea and the depth below the surface and an estimate of the quantity and the quality, also the porosity of the rock strata in which it lays. 3

Archaeology: The location of unknown sites where nothing shows on the surface of the ground. The depth below the surface that a site lies, the outline, the depth of ditches, the run and heights of previous walls and buildings. The location of roads, grave sites and burials. The dates of sites and so on. The location of sunken ships and submarines. Building Sites: Examination for all purposes, the water running underneath them, rock state, soil state, rock faults, old wells, cavities, cellars, drains, sewers, cables and pipes and so on - especially if it is intended to build on that site. Location of pipes, cables and drains: The line of the run, depth, location of fractured pipes, broken cables, leaks and blockages. It is particularly useful for searching for old or lost field drains and tracing water supplies from farm to field and field to field for animal drinking troughs and so on. Location of tunnels, caves, lost mine workings: The demarcation, size and depth of them. Lost articles: Valuables, car keys, rings, brooches, purses, wallets, to name but a few.

ART OF DOWSING Missing people: This is one of the most difficult tasks owing to the difficulty of identification and should be undertaken with care and careful preparation. Bear in mind that some people deliberately 'disappear' for their own personal reasons and have no wish to be found. Tracking lost animals or children or perhaps someone elderly and confused in a city. Plant and soil treatments: Mainly used in determining how to improve soil quality for the various plants to be grown in it and determining the best location for plants, trees and shrubs etc. Medical: A number of qualified doctors and others are increasingly using dowsing techniques to assist in diagnosis and the selection of remedies. Animals: Pendulum dowsing can be used to locate health problems in animals and help in the selection of remedies. Healing of houses, shops, factories, offices etc. of the effects of Geopathic Stress: This has become quite a large part of the work undertaken by dowsers. Geopathic Stress is the Earths vibrations which rise up through the Earth and are distorted by weak electromagnetic fields created by subterranean 5

running water, certain mineral concentrations, fault lines and underground cavities. The vibration distorted becomes abnormally high and harmful to living organisms and usually does cause a worsening of a condition e.g. arthritis, depression, sleeplessness, heart problems to name but a few. Who can use dowsing: Again the short answer is, Everyone. Once you have been shown the basics and have accepted that it is a gift open to everyone and you are prepared to put yourself out a little, especially in the early stages, you will be on the right road to becoming a competent dowser. It requires a lot of practice to build up your confidence. Until you have built up that confidence, keep away from skeptics because they can undermine you quicker than anything else. ART OF DOWSING In short, People use pendulum dowsing to: LOCATE -- water, gold, oil and other minerals; lost objects; missing persons or pets; schools of fish; vacation spots; underground pipes and leaks; faulty equipment and sources of malfunctions; problems in the body, causes or solutions, etc. TEST FOR -- allergies; the quality and freshness of food and water; chemicals, pesticides or bacteria in food, etc. DETERMINE -- compatibility between people, places and things; health of plants and animals; counterfeit or authentic items; honesty or fairness, etc. CHOOSE -- investments and stocks; careers; relationships; dates; timing; healthful foods, etc. How Does it Work? The short answer is that no one really knows - it just does. The scientific world, geologists and archaeologists and so on appear to put their heads in the sand because here is something that cannot be proved nor can it be disproved scientifically. However it is surprising how many water, mining, oil companies and so on use dowsers in exploration work. 9
