ACM Quality Week

World Quality Month (WQM) was celebrated in November to recognize and celebrate our teammates for their efforts to demonstrate safety, quality and integrity in everything we do each day. From 14-18 November, ACM celebrated ACM Quality Week with the sharing of inspirational videos from Boeing Total Quality Week (BTQW) starting with Carol Murray, VP of Total Quality, who gave an intro on the importance of Quality. Employees viewed videos on ‘A Leader’s Guide to Managing Quality’ by Harry Rever, from Dallas BGS and ‘FOD Reduction’ by Steven Reese, BGS on the first day. On the second day were videos by Gulfstream’s Quality VP and ‘Driving the Culture of Quality’ by Boeing Global Services. The week ended with a video by ACM commemorating ACM Quality Week.

Training/LPO

ACM’s Inaugural One BPS Training Rollout The Boeing Production System (BPS) is composed of several elements that work in concert to ensure an output of the highest-quality cost-effective products in the least amount of time. BPS principles consisting of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, value streams, global manufacturing and managing supplier relationships are all elements that are critical to the company's competitiveness. Lean and efficient operations are at the heart of the Boeing Production System. With this in mind, the Leadership Team decided to introduce ACM to the Boeing Production System via Boeing’s One BPS Training which happened from 21 November to 2 December. Boeing Lean Consultants & Lean Practitioners, Brandon, Nicky & Bryan provided hands-on training to participants consisting of representatives from the Quality, Engineering, Production, Scheduling, LPO, and F&M teams. Divided into two scopes, Core Fabrication Lean Workshop and One BPS Problem Solving Model, the training required attendees to perform manufacturing simulations within different scenarios and use Problem-Solving & Analysis tools. They were then required to propose creative troubleshooting approaches and improvement methods. Each team member had the opportunity to play a different role from their current ones. The training proved beneficial to all attendees and we look forward to more similar trainings in the future.

The 5S team of the year reclaimed the 5s Challenger Trophy! After conceding to the Layup team in the previous month, the Core team took the top spot and regained the Challenger Trophy. This makes it nine months of the year where Core is evaluated as the best performing team for the month of November. We invite other section 5S leaders to learn what makes Core perform so well while continually working in a challenging environment with the presences of debris daily.

Keep it up and let’s see who will be the best-performing section in the next audit!

Smoking Cessation Program a Resounding Success! The smoking cessation program was rolled out in January of this year in line with the company’s plan to be smoke-free by January 2023. The program ends in December with the final session conducted on 15 December 2022. The program has had overwhelming success with 31% of our employees having ceased their dependency on cigarettes as compared to the standard hospital success rate of only 5%.

Congratulations to the fully committed who have successfully quit the habit. This success has not gone unnoticed as ACM is now the benchmark for Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah for implementing an effective program model for quitting smoking. If you are looking for support on your journey to quitting smoking, get in touch with us. We are pleased to announce that the program will continue in 2023, and employees can visit the clinic for follow-ups.

As part of the company’s plan to be smoke-free by January 2023, the smoke shack will be completely sealed on 31 December 2022. Employees are no longer allowed to smoke within ACM premises. Smoking is prohibited, and individuals who violate this rule will be under disciplinary action. On 1 January 2023, ACM will be a smoke-free company.

Blood Donation Campaign Achieved it’s Target!

ACM’s annual Blood Donation campaign was held on 30 November this year. The event received overwhelming response when employees turned up in droves as early as 9.30am to be registered for blood collection. Amazingly, a lot of the employees were first-time donors, doing their civic duty to replenish the hospital’s blood bank. 56 pints of blood were collected during the campaign, potentially helping up to 168 patients in need of transfusions. On behalf of the hospital and management, thank you to all donors for your contribution.

Glitzy Glam Mask-quarade Annual Dinner a Huge Hit! ACM’s first Annual Dinner event in over three years. Everyone in attendance wore attire befitting the event's theme. What a night to remember!

The evening commenced with opening remarks from the MD, Mr Justin Franke, highlighting ACM’s achievements throughout 2022 and a promise of a night full of surprises. An award ceremony came next with seven teams winning awards in their respective categories with the Manual Trim/ Deburr Team bagging the honorary award of the night, the MD Award. Congratulations to all worthy winners.

Our employees were treated to a wonderful dinner prepared by the Grand Alora hotel while the first surprise of the night was unveiled. Aliff Satar and the Locos entered and rocked the crowd with their rendition of 'I Feel Good' and 'Hound Dog'. Aliff also took over the MC role for the rest of the night.

Employees were treated to table games, quizzes and three outstanding performances by our colleagues that went beyond expectations.

After a heartfelt singing performance by our Senior Managers, we unveiled another major surprise by having the queen of rock herself, Ella, perform her big hits to our employees. The venue literally transformed into a rock concert! Aliff took the opportunity for a duet and everyone was treated to an entertaining performance.

Mr and Mrs Mask of the night were crowned next and Ella continued with two more songs to bring the crowd home happy.

The night didn't end there as lucky draw winners were selected. Congrats to all winners, some of whom went home with prizes up to RM10,000!

The grand finale happened when the MD closed the evening with a major announcement for the year's performance that made the crowd truly ecstatic. All in all, this event is one to remember for a long time.

The Importance of Our Year-End Stock Count The year-end stock count is an activity to count all inventory on hand. The aim is to match inventory on hand to the quantity stated in the system. A stock count reveals just how much available inventory value our business has on hand at the end of the year. This year it will be held on 29 December (stock count) and 30 December (data entry). •

Who is involved? - Most departments! In particular, production, quality, shipping and warehouse. Other departments will also be engaged to support the internal auditing activities - External auditors from KPMG will verify the robustness of our process

Why is it important? - ACM inventories have increased by 43% since 2019 largely due to the new assembly business - Our Year-end stock count is important to correctly assess the accuracy of inventory on hand

When inventories are less than what the system shows, material shortage could occur, which halt production, leading to loss of revenue & profit. This in turn will increase company costs as we would need to incur OT and freight costs to subsequently expedite panels. If we have more inventories on hand than the system exhibits, we may end up buying more than we need, thereby burdening our warehouse system and increasing holding costs. What’s new for this year? •

The E-Stock Count Sheet module will replace the hand- written stock count sheet - This new E-Stock count sheet will enable the counter to select the correct stock item code directly from the system and key in the quantity counted - It also expedites the data entry process - Disadvantages of the hand-written stock count sheet : o Plenty of handwritten mistakes o Prone to lost count sheets o Difficult to consolidate during data entry

43% more inventory compared to 2019
