ADJETIVOS DEMOSTRATIVOS Demonstrative adjectives Los adjetivos demostrativos acompañan a nombres y señalan la distancia espacial o temporal del nombre al que señalan con respecto al hablante. Los adjetivos demostrativos tienen variación de género y número. Tienen distintas formas que indican la proximidad o lejanía del objeto. Demonstrative Adjectives goes with names they point to the distance that point according to speaker distance. The demonstrative adjectives vary according to gender and number. They have different forms that indicate the proximity or distance of the object.

Uso de los adjetivos demostrativos en ambito temporal Use of demonstrative adjectives in temporal scope Este, esta, estos, estas: sirven para referirse al presente o a un pasado o futuro muy cercanos a este presente.

Ejemplos: Examples Este invierno fue muy seco. (Es el invierno de este año) This Winter has been very dry. Esta semana he tenido mucho trabajo. (Es hoy y los días inmediatamente anteriores) I have had lot of work this week. Ese, esa, esos, esas: Se usan para referirse a un pasado o a un futuro próximos en un tiempo que normalmente ha sido señalado por el hablante

Ejemplos: Examples No fui a la cita acordada porque ese día se enfermó mi madre. ( I didn’t show up to the agreed appointment because my mother got sick that day) Creo que ese día será inolvidable para ella. (I believe that day will be unforgettable for her) Aquel, aquella, aquellos, aquellas, se usan para referirse a un pasado muy lejano o distante en un tiempo que normalmente ha sido señalado por el hablante. Ejemplos:

1965… En aquel año entré a la escuela. (1965….I went to school in that year) Aquellas empanadas fritas de tu abuela eran deliciosas. (Those grandma’s pies were delicious)

Pronombres Demostrativos Demonstrative Pronouns Los pronombres demostrativos sirven para indicar la distancia que existe entre el emisor y lo señalado, señalan ubicación espacial sustituyendo al sustantivo. Sirven para nombrar y distinguir elementos que ya se han mencionado anteriormente, pero sin repetirlos. Su forma varía dependiendo del género y el número. La forma de los pronombres demostrativos son las mismas de los adjetivos con un acento marcado.

The demonstrative pronouns are used to indicate the distance between the speaker and the pointed, point by replacing the noun. They are used to name and distinguish items that have already been mentioned above, but without repetition. Its shape varies depending on gender and number. The form of the demonstrative pronouns are the same adjectives but with a marked accent.

Ejemplos: Examples Me gustan todos los sabores pero éste es mi favorito. (este sabor es mi favorito)

I like all flavors but this is my favorite. Este bus es pequeño pero aquel es muy grande.

This bus is small but that one is very big. Los pronombres demostrativos esto, eso, aquello, son formas neutras que se usan cuando señalamos algo inespecífico o para incluir una parte anterior de la conversación o idea, o también para anunciar algo que se va a decir a continuación.

The demonstrative pronouns this, that, that are neutral forms that are used when we point out some nonspecific or to include an earlier part of the conversation or idea, or also to announce something that is going to say next.

Ejemplos: Examples What is this? It is a rare insect. This is very important. That was very funny Do you believe that? Oh, that´s nothing. This is true.
