ráfagas omar rodríguez-graham
Ráfagas by Omar Rodríguez-Graham advocates the premise that everything is in a constant development. The present stands over the rumble of the past, which distorts memories, shatters
narratives
and creates renewed ones. The artist´s
work champions
the concept of disintegration. Based on iconic pieces from western
painting, the artist appropiates
Tiepolo, Breughel or Watteau´s
figurative compositions into abstract paintings. By applying disassemble) come
compositions
to reassemble its
contemporary parameters
to old masters compositions , the artist transcends
(digital
figurative boundaries which be-
unrecognizable in its final work.
Nevertheless, the artist does not transgress the pictorial essence nor moves away from a transcendental idea of art: that which admits that every “destructive” act is considered to be a creative one.

la caída del sol negro agustín gonzález
Under the title La caída del sol negro (The set of the black sun), the Mexican artist Agustín González (D.F., 1978) presents his last series of paintings in Wu Galería. Inspired by a brief extract by Eduardo Galeano of Las palabras andantes, 1993 by Eduardo Galeano on the concept of utopia: “Utopia is in the horizon. I go two steps closer, and it goes two steps further. I walk ten steps and the horizon moves ten steps away. As much as I walk, I shall never reach it. What is the use of utopia, then? To keep on walking.” The show is organized in a series of small format oils paintings of 50 x 40 cm, which depict the landscape, the road, the horizon and unrecognizable pedestrians. These isolated scenes, are painted with a pervasive feeling of solitude. Characters who disappear under the last rays of an almost extinct sun, the diffused light which filters the sceneries painted and blurs recognizable individual features.
