I will talk about air pollution. I choose this topic because I will always lived in big cities and we were effected by air pollution. Çorlu is a city in the industrial zone, the same way in Denizli.
Air is invisible but it is all around us. Air is a mixture of gases, mostly oxygen and nitrogen which plants, humans and animals all need in order to survive. Air pollution happens when harmful substances (pollutants) are released into the air - inside our homes or outside. This can damage our bodies and even increase our chances of getting certain diseases.
1.8 billion people under the age of 15 breathe air that is so polluted it risks their health and development. Some air pollution is not seen, but its pungent smell alerts you. Pollutants in the air can enter our lungs and blood system, which increases our risk of heart diseases, respiratory diseases, and lung cancer.
Children and young people are more affected by air pollution than adults. This is because you breathe faster than adults and take in more pollutants. Also because your brains and bodies are still developing, and these pollutants can harm you while you’re still growing.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION?
Vehicle emissions, fuel oils and natural gas to heat homes, by-products of manufacturing and power generation, particularly coal-fueled power plants, and fumes from chemical production are the primary sources of human-made air pollution.
HOW CAN WE HELP REDUCE AIR POLLUTION? Walk or cycle to school Plant more trees and greenery Turn off your engine Don't burn your garbage Use less energy Understand the Concept of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
I think air pollution poses different threats at different scales. As results there is no one single solution to this problem. Laws and regulation always plays an important part to control pollution. That is why Government of different countries should adopt air pollution control laws. Also air pollution can be prevented by treating the point source emissions (polluted air emissions from factories, industries etc.) with appropriate treatment technologies.
