January 12, 2023 Nomination for the Hall of Fame Gene Moose Biegler #WI010LC Nomination made by Al Stanek Bismarck, ND 58504 ND12L [email protected] (701) 391-1307 I would like you to place in consideration for the nomination for the honor for the American Cribbage Congress Hall of Fame Eugene Moose Biegler. Moose has been a charter member of the American Cribbage Congress by signing up in 1978-1979 in Madison, WI where the first Wisconsin tournament started under the leadership of the founding President, Mr. Joseph Petrus Wergin. Moose worked his early years with Mr. Wergin and other members of the ACC like Bob Madsen, Al Lichey, Syl Lulinski, Robert Immel, Al Luedtke, Mickey Michaelis, Jeff Shimp, Scott Kooistra and many others to start and help work in major tournaments thru many years. Moose also was instrumental in having started the first sanctioned one-day cribbage tournament in West Bend under the reign of the ACC in the Midwest which was sanctioned in 1981 and ran for 35 years until he had to give it up. Moose also worked many Grand Nationals in earlier years in Chicago, Milwaukee and Minnesota. Moose was very fortunate and honored to be a co-director with Bob McCabe by bringing the Grand National back to Milwaukee in 1988 which was also the first tournament that the Grand National did not receive any funding from the ACC and was self-sufficient for paying and soliciting funds to run the ACC tournament. I know Moose is proud of being a Life Master and he thinks one of his proudest moments in the ACC is when he won the Joseph Petrus Wergin Open at the Sands Regency in Reno, NV in 1998. I know he was proud of being one of the first persons to run one of the first cruise ship tournaments after the Grand National in Florida in 1998 plus told me that he only has 1 Grand National. I also know Moose is very active in trying to promote the American Cribbage Congress. He still tries to help out to work and promote the ACC. I know he worked a lot of years at the Tournament of Champions and the JPW Open in Reno. He did numerous jobs wherever he could. Moose is also an active certified judge. I know Moose continues to this day promoting the game of cribbage in the United States and the World. I hope you have a chance to honor him and elect him to the American Cribbage Congress Hall of Fame. I believe he should get the recognition because back in early years he did get enough votes to become a member of the Hall of Fame but in those years they only elected one member per year and he lost out to the very honorable recipient, Mr. Mickey Michaelis. I thank you for his consideration for the honor of becoming a member of the American Cribbage Congress Hall of Fame. Al Stanek
