ABBA is a Swedish pop band that was founded in the year 1972 in Stockholm. The members of ABBA are Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. Agnetha and Anni-Frid are singers. Benny and Björn are singers too, but they also play the instruments. In the past 50 years they have sold around 400 million records. They were really successful in Europe and Australia.

In the year 1982 they stopped being a band and split up. In the year 2021 they started a comeback. They will go on tour this year, but they will not go on stage by themselves. They will get projected on stage as avatars, because Agnetha is scared of travelling by plane. Now their music is still popular and their records still get sold. I like ABBA, because it is pop music and the songs are cool. My favourite songs are “Dancing Queen” and “The Winner Takes It All”.

The HORN

I play horn for 5 years now. It is my favourite instrument because it is very loud and I like the sound very much.

The horn has 3 finger buttons1 so there are 8 different combinations possible, which means, that many sounds have the same combination – they are made by different air speed, which makes it not so easy. You have to know and hear exactly which sound you want to play. The musical notation2 is written in treble clef or bass clef3 because the horn can play very low sounds. At the moment I’m playing very often “jingle bells” and other Christmas songs, and I’m learning a “Suite for Horn” in 4 phrases from Ronald Hammer. My dream is to audition at “Jugend musiziert” in the near future.

I like the keyboard because it has so many sound effects. I especially like the sound of an e-piano. Instrument and effect combination can replace a whole band. I wish I would be able to play a keyboard. A famous keyboard solo is from the band “Van Halen” in the song “Jump”.

The piano

The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material. It is played by using a keyboard, which is a line of keys that the pianist presses down or strikes with the fingers and thumbs of both hands to cause the hammers to strike the strings. It was invented in Italy around the year 1700. The founder of the first piano was the italien Bartolomeo Cristoferi (1655-1731). The piano is usually made of wood. Most pianos have a row of 88 black and white keys, 52 white keys and 36 shorter black keys.

The drums are an rhythm instrument. Already in the stone age people began to drum with sticks on hollow logs. This was the beginning of the drums. Since 5000 years people are building barrels. The wording „drum set“ had his beginning with the invention of the foot pedal in 1887 by George R. Olney. The first complete drum set was on the market in 1918 from the firm „Ludwig“. A comlete drum set includes a snare drum, a bass drum, tom-toms, cymbals and a hi-hat (but the hi-hat came later than the other things). The cymbals are made with metal. The single drums are made with wood and are stringed with a membrane, in the past with a hide, today with synthetic materials as drumhead. The drummer holds a pair of drumsticks made of wood and uses his feet to play the hi-hat and the bass drum with a foot pedal. Since about 1980 there are also elektronic drums (e-drums). The tones are digital and you need earphones or a loudspeaker.

Foo Fighters The band history In the year 1995, Dave Grohls founded the Band Foo Fighters. Then he published the first Foo Fighters album and found Band members. He hoped, the Nirvana fans will come to the concerts, because he was a member of the band Nirvana where he played the drums in the past. But on the 5. April 1994, the singer left the band because he died. So the band Nirvana disapeared. 1997, all the Foo Fighters band members published the song „The Colour and The Shape“. From 2000 to 2007,the band recorded some albums and made a world concert tour. In the year 2008 the band made a long pause. The next album was named „Wasting lights“ and got published in the year 2011.
