The Assunnah Muslims Association (AMA) is a charitable organization that operates through two arms – the AMA Community Centre and Masjid ar-Rahmah (Mosque of Mercy). Masjid Ar-Rahmah (Mosque of Mercy) promotes spiritual development and Islamic awareness in our community here in Ottawa and around the globe. The AMA Community Centre focuses on community development and caters to people from all faiths and backgrounds. 4

The Day It All Began It all began on Dec. 23rd, 1992. A dedicated group of Muslims came together to establish a place of prayer called Dar-Assunnah located in the east end of Ottawa. Time To Move We moved to a new location on Bank street across from South Keys Shopping Centre. Don't let the corner store sign fool you, this new place of prayer became our home for many years. Investment For The Future With help from the community, we were able to purchase a plot of land on 1216 Hunt Club Road which would serve as the location of our new masjid and community centre. Non-Profit Status It was in 2004 that we registered as the nonprofit: Assunnah Muslims Association (AMA). 1992 1996 1998 2004 5

Phase 1 Of Construction In 2007 we began construction on our future masjid. The first major phase of the masjid project involved cutting trees on the property, cleaning debris from the site, performing earthworks (land leveling and top soiling), and excavation. Phase 2 Of Construction The second phase involved the installation of the water main, main sanitary system, water storm management system, and all required earthworks (hauling, backfill, leveling, etc.). Phase 3 Of Contruction The base of the masjid is formed, power lines are integrated, and work on both the interior and exterior of the building begins. Phase 4 Of Construction The building is slowly beginning to take its final form. Drywall is added to the basement and the washrooms are now functional. Finally, the parking lot is transformed from barren land into paved roads. 2007 2008 2009 2011 6

Phase 5 Of COnstruction The basement is receiving its final touches before the contractor allows us to partially occupy the building. This means we can use the basement floor for worship while construction continues on the floors above. Opening Day We were granted partial occupancy of our new masjid and we were able to leave our old building on Bank Street for good. Although construction upstairs was ongoing, we were permitted to use the basement for worship. Grand opening The base of the masjid is formed, power lines are integrated, and work on both the interior and exterior of the building begins. Current This is how the masjid turned out after many years of hard work. 2012 2012 2016 2016- 7
