THE BOARD CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE I want to express my sincere gratitude to all those who joined my family on the 25th of October 2014 to launch the Anne Mojoko Musonge Memorial Trust in Buea. Members of Government, Administrative, Municipal, Religious, and Traditional Authorities,Civil Society and NonGovernmental Organizations and many well-wishers were all present and participated in the planting of this seed. During her launching address, the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Professor Marie Thésèse Abena Ondoua who kindly accepted to chair the occasion, reminded us all as community actors, and parents, of our collective responsibility to work towards removing all barriers to an effective education of the girl child, encouraging and empowering her to aim for the summit and secure a bright future.

That seed that was planted with your blessing has grown and blossomed and the fruits are increasingly visible and appreciated as testified by a cross section of beneficiaries.

The purpose of this publication is to give feedback on our performance over the past eight academic years, explain some of the challenges that we face, present our future perspectives for the next five years, and solicit your adherence and continuous support for the cause. It is also intended to inform all potential collaborators who were not aware of the existence and activities of the Trust and get them on board. H.E The Rt; Hon Peter MAFANY MUSONGE

INTRODUCTION The Anne Mojoko Musonge Memorial Trust, AMMMT is an Association which operates in accordance with Law No. 90/053 of 19/12/90 relating to freedom of associations in Cameroon, and is duly registered at the Senior Divisional Office, Fako, Limbe (Ref. No. 501/G.37/C84 Vol II/SAAJP of 05/06/14).

It was set up in 2014 by her family to honor the memory of this great and illustrious wife, mother and crusader for social equity and wellbeing. It was launched in October 2014 in Buea, Cameroon. The AMMMT provides financial assistance and educational opportunities for the advancement and empowerment of young girls and women of Fako who meet the eligibility criteria, and are between the ages of nine and twentytwo at the secondary, high school, and university levels as well as vocational training within the Republic of Cameroon. Since its inception, the Trust has focused on improving the quality, accessibility and availability of educational resources for underprivileged, needy, but deserving young girls and women.

ORGANISATIONAL STUCTURE The Trust is run by a Board of Directors made up of six members, including its Chairperson. It has a Scholarship Selection Council, and an ad hoc Project Committee. These persons are all volunteers. The only permanent staff of the Trust are the secretary and the night watchman.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT (2014-2022)

The main activity of the Trust since its creation has been the provision of scholarships in terms of cash donations to eligible girls and young women for their educational needs. The strategy used in 2021 is described below:

and counsel the beneficiaries on how to improve on their study habits. She equally advised the students to make proper use of the money they received for their school work.

Other activities include holding of Board meetings to approve work plans, equipping and maintaining the Trust Office building, conceiving and broadcasting radio programs and messages of benefit to young girls, and monitoring the academic performance of beneficiaries in their educational

Prior to the distribution of scholarship awards to the beneficiaries, scholarship forms were distributed to all schools in Fako Division. Students and pupils were then sensitized to apply. Thereafter, application forms were collected and handed to the scholarship selection council (SSC) which scrutinized and examined the applications and did a careful pre selection of beneficiaries, cutting across the Secondary, Technical, Vocational and University Levels in Fako Division. During the Award Ceremony, the Secretary of the Board, Mrs Moffah Juditha Lyengu Luma , after a word of prayer, took University level beneficiaries receiving scholarship awards May 2021 some time to encourage

institutions. In addition to academic performance, the Trust monitored the conduct, and morality of all beneficiaries throughout the years to ensure that they remain worthy ambassadors of the standards and values that the Trust promotes. The Trust produces yearly activity reports and yearly audited accounts reports. During this reporting period, a total of 601 beneficiaries spread throughout all the sub divisions of Fako Division, have been

awarded a total sum of 20, 715, 000 (Twenty million, seven hundred and fifteen thousand) CFA francs to support their primary school, technical / vocational, secondary school, high school and university needs. Details are shown in appendix 1.

The Students and their parents were grateful for scholarship awards and the students promised to work hard in school for a better future.

CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED AMMMT intends to at least maintain its rhythm of scholarship awards and eventually carry out other activities to further empower the beneficiaries, in accordance with its Statutes. Besides the major hurdle of insecurity scare in the Region as a whole, AMMMT’s major challenge is fund raising to guarantee the sustainability of its activities. As the financial statement below indicates, all yearly expenditures are from the initial start up funds. There is urgent need for additional funds.

START UP FUNDS (CFA frs)

A total of 59 151 050 was raised over a four year period as shown below: Famly Deposit Donations and pledges TOTAL

Apart from the start up funds presented above, no other income has been received or generated by the Trust. There is therefore urgent need for recapitalization.

PERSPECTIVES FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS In line with its objectives, AMMMT intends to at least maintain its current rhythm of scholarship awards to eligible girls in formal institutions of learning, with particular attention paid to vocational and technical training. We will intensify the monitoring of the academic performance of beneficiaries and their resolve to maintain high moral standards and values promoted by the Trust.

We equally intend to diversify our empowerment activities to include amongst others, educative talks and skills development workshops, and explore the possibility of reaching out to girls of eligible age range but who have dropped out of formal educational institutions.

Finally we shall explore several fund raising options so that all planned activities will be carried out effectively and efficiently and communicated appropriately.

DONATIONS All well wishers who would like to support the Trust’s activities should either contact the Trust Treasurer on 675922244, or send their cash contributions directly to the bank account number 10002 00039 900002 4 560 7 14 SCB Cameroon.
