Join Us for a Fun Afternoon Quarter Auction Proceeds benefit the American Lung Association Wednesday, April 10 Magnolia Room 11:30am Check-in and viewing 12:00pm Auction begins Lunch - $ TBA Southwest Florida Vendor Events in conjunction with Pelican Preserve will be hosting a Quarter Auction to benefit the Children Network of Southwest Florida. Attendees will check in at the desk and rent their paddle (or 2 or 3 paddles depending on how you want to play). Paddles are $3 each/2 for $5. Bring rolls of quarters or participants may exchange their dollar bills for quarters at the event. Items are presented and raffled, one by one. Your quarters and paddles will be used for a chance to win items up for auction. The amount of quarters bid (typically 2-3) does not go up but rather participants "bid" the requested number of quarters on an item for a chance to win. Once participants bid the required number of quarters per paddle, quarters are dropped into a bowl and collected. Paddles are then raised in the air and paddle numbers are drawn from chips matching the paddles. If your number is called and you bid your quarters, you win! Items for auction include items from Agalea Jewelry, Avon, Grace & Heart, Holly Art Creations, Rodan & Fields, Stuffy Friends, Lime Life by Alcone, Stained Glass by Ruth, and much more! Each vendor will have a table present at the auction. 50/50 raffles available at the vendor tables. Cash and carry items are available at each vendor table. Memorial Day Events Monday, May 27 10:00am Magnolia Room Attention Veterans - Share Your Experience The Veteran’s Commitment would like to invite the Pelican Preserve Veterans to be a part of the Memorial Day remembrance on May 27. The theme will be remembering those who gave their life during the wars of our generation: Korea, Vietnam, Gulf and the Middle East. The committee is looking for Veterans to write a short essay to be delivered in 2 - 3 minutes during the ceremony. The committee would like to find veterans (or a family member/friend) who could speak about the war or conflict in which he or she was involved. The subject of the essay would be an experience you had in your military service and it can be serious or humorous. The committee will also consider essays not based upon your personal experience but on someone else close to you. Although it would be preferred that you present your own essay, someone else could read it if desired. The Veteran’s Committee would like to have an essay representative of each war in which Residents have participated. The committee will choose up to four selections for the event. Please submit essays by May 13 by sending to [email protected].
