Autumn is well and truly here. This is my favourite time of year, I find the chilly mornings and bright days invigorating. As the days gradually shorten and cooler weather turns the greens of summer to the gorgeous golds, reds and browns of autumn, its time to harvest: to reap what we have sown. This time of year always makes me pause and consider what I have sown this year, whether its the seeds of new friendships, changes in my business or researching new projects. When I consider everything I have achieved up to this point, I am always surprised that I have done so much, because as I hurtle through the year I always feel I’m chasing my tail, and that I am never doing enough. So, the lesson learned is: everything I do is enough. I am enough. Its important, like nature, to take time rest and renew. Gather your harvest and see what you have achieved. Congratulate yourself for a job well done. Bask in the knowledge that you have moved further along your journey. Gather strength and make plans for the new year and the time of renewal. Remember that the journey is important, and try to enjoy it, and not just focus on reaching the destination. Winter will soon be here and Christmas upon us so take time to enjoy the company of the special people in your lives. Consider giving a gift of an experience this Christmas, there are lots of ideas in this issue. We are also excited to have our next Event on Sunday 13 November at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal. Check out the back page to download the QR code for FREE entry tickets. Wishing you all a very happy festive season. 6 Roots of Life Wellness Magazine www.therootsoflife.co.uk Your Healthy Sleep Causes of insomnia can include: Long term stress, life changing events, chronic pain or illhealth, uncontrollable worrying, uncomfortable bed/mattress, being too hot or cold, too much light, or electrical interference, and a snoring sleeping partner! Some people find that they sleep less as they age. Most people at some time in their lives experience loss of sleep or disturbed nights due to life experiences and ‘stuff’. This is perfectly natural. But extended periods of sleeplessness can cause our health to suffer. Long term insomnia can influence blood pressure and affect your mental health. It’s important to acknowledge that there is no ‘one size fits all’ regarding the amount of sleep an individual needs. Ignore anyone that tells you ‘you must have...’, ‘you need...’, or ‘you should have...’ x amount of sleep per night. The amount of sleep you need for your body and mind to function optimally, is entirely dependent on your genes, your lifestyle and your mental health. A more accurate assessment is whether your sleep is nourishing you, or do you still wake up tired and lethargic? Disturbed sleep, or difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep are indicators of something not being quite right. Worrying about what you need to do the next day, or periods of insecurity and stress, and re-processing concerns or actions, are guaranteed to give you a poor nights sleep. If only we had an off switch for our brains! Triggers for a poor night’s sleep: • Worrying • Mental or visual stimulation before bedtime • Late meals, snacks and drinks • Caffeine • Unsuitable mattress • Room too warm/cold • Bright lights • Too much noise in your locality • Electrical equipment in your room • Repeated trips to the bathroom Secrets to Sleeping Well by Deborah Monshin Insomnia is one of the worse ailments to deal with as it causes stress and further anxiety as the sleepless hours accumulate! Tried counting sheep? Baaaa! The harder you fight insomnia the more frustrated you get!

Roots of Life Wellness Magazine www.therootsoflife.co.uk 7 Your Healthy Sleep To aid a good nights sleep: • Room should be slightly cooler • Open window for fresh air all year round • Deep breathing or meditation practice • Last food 2 or 3 hours before bedtime • Dark room or use of eye mask/black out curtains • Earplugs • No screen time 1 or 2 hrs before bedtime • Read a relaxing book/magazine • Remove electrical items from your room • Replace electrical alarm clocks with battery ones • Comfortable mattress • No caffeine in the evening • Spend time relaxing in bed before lights out • Herbal teas containing oat or valerian • Natural sleep aids ie Calms, or lavender oil on your pillow. • Regular bedtime and wake up times Often just changing some of the listed triggers can greatly help with better quality sleep. It may also help to learn some deep breathing, and relaxation exercises. The success of these depends on not becoming attached to outcome; if you are desperate for these methods to work, you are adding more stress to the issue. There are many free guided sleep meditations, and relaxation music available on YouTube, and many apps to help with relaxation and mindfulness. There may be local relaxation groups in your area - your local health-food store, or town’s Facebook page are good sources of information. Counting and breathing exercise: Lying in bed, eyes closed: in your mind, count down in twos, from 100, with each out breath (so, 100, 98, 96 etc), counting in time with your breath, not matching your breath to your counting. This is a really good method of getting really relaxed and to drift off to sleep. Mindfulness exercise: Just rest and allow your mind to focus on your breathing, and notice how the breath moves through your body. This helps to take your focus into your body, and away from your thoughts. Its important to resist getting upset or frustrated. If you have tried for a while to get to sleep and feel yourself becoming more anxious, then get up, make yourself a cup of decaffeinated or herbal tea, warm plant-based milk (oat is great). Just sit for while, listen to some relaxing music, or reading something non-stimulating. When you feel inclined to, return to bed. How do I know if I need more help? If your insomnia or sleep problems last longer than two weeks, or is affecting your daily activities, then it would be a good idea to talk to a healthcare professional. It may help to keep a sleep diary of days and times you experience insomnia, and a record of your activities and thoughts during the day. This helps to identify thought patterns, or triggers that are contributing to your sleep issues. Sleeping partners! If your insomnia is being caused or aggravated by your sleeping partner, eg a snorer, this can be especially frustrating! Have an honest conversation and encourage the person to seek healthcare advice. Elevating the head with an extra pillow, changing sleeping positions, and natural relaxation remedies may also help with snoring. Sleeping in different rooms, if possible, may be a short term solution to help you get a good night’s rest but will not solve the problem long term. The main thing is not to suffer in silence, insomnia can become a learned response to going to bed, so talk to a professional.

How many First Aiders does a company need? There are no hard and fast rules on how many trained first aiders you should have. It depends on the nature of your work and its location. Companies are required to carry out a needs assessment and decide how many are needed and where they should be placed. First aiders are to be trained by a competent training provider in: • Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) – at this level they're qualified to give emergency first aid to someone who is injured or becomes ill while at work. This is a 1-day course (6 teaching hours) • First Aid at Work (FAW) – qualified to EFAW level but can also apply first aid to a range of specific injuries and illnesses. This is a 3-day course (18 teaching hours) Can teachers apply plasters to children? We've often heard of teachers, volunteers and carers being told to ask parents for permission, or even requiring parents to drive over and put the plaster on themselves. This persistent myth causes a lot of unnecessary hassle and worry. There is no rule that says a responsible adult can't put a plaster on a child's minor cut. Some children do have an allergy to normal plasters. If you know a child is allergic you can use the Hypo-allergenic type of plaster. The important thing is to clean and cover the cut to stop it getting infected. Can First Aiders remove splinters? Given that most workplaces, schools etc will have competent, qualified first aiders, there is no reason at all why they should not remove splinters if they are partly exposed and easily removed with tweezers. If splinters are deeply embedded, then parents should be consulted, and professional medical help sought. Are First Aiders allowed to give tablets and medication to casualties? Simple answer is No. First aid at work does not include giving tablets or medicines to treat illness. The only exceptions to this are where aspirin is used when giving first aid to a casualty with a suspected heart attack, or to use an adrenaline auto-injector, Epi Pen, Jext or Emerade, for life threating allergic reaction, anaphylaxis. This is in accordance with currently accepted first-aid practice. Tablets and medicines should not be kept in the first-aid box. What should a first-aid box in the workplace contain? There is no mandatory list of what should be in a first aid box. The decision on what to provide will be influenced by the findings of the first aid needs assessment. As a guide, where work activities involve low hazards, a minimum stock of first-aid items might be: • a leaflet giving general guidance on first aid (for example, HSE's leaflet with basic advice on first aid at work • individually wrapped sterile plasters, assorted sizes appropriate to the type of work (hypoallergenic plasters can be provided if necessary • sterile eye pads • individually wrapped triangular bandages, preferably sterile • safety pins • large sterile individually wrapped unmedicated wound dressings • medium-sized sterile individually wrapped unmedicated wound dressings • disposable gloves Wren Training If you are not sure what course to take or you may need for your workplace, club, society etc or as an individual please get in touch for advice. 10 Roots of Life Wellness Magazine www.therootsoflife.co.uk Changing to a plant based diet is a personal preference, whether for environmental reasons, or for the love of animals. For some people the change is brought about by ill-health, or to improve their current health. With more people now experiencing food sensitivities, they are questioning the wisdom of eating a diet high in animal products, especially considering pharmaceuticals used on farmed animals, and pesticides and additives in animal feeds. Environmentally, growing crops to feed animals to then feed ourselves, rather than just growing crops to feed ourselves, does seem a little daft. Are we meat eaters from habit rather than necessity? It is time for a change? What are the benefits? Plant based diets have been linked to a lower risk of cancer, to reduce pain from arthritis, and reduce inflammation. Indications show that a plant based diet may reduce your risk of age-related cognitive decline. Going plant based can reduce food sensitivities, boost your energy and support weight management goals. How and Why to Go Plant Based written by Deborah Monshin Your Seasonal Health

Q. How long have you been vegan? A. Just over 8 years Q. When and why did you make the switch? A. For health reasons initially - I was training and racing on my bike and wanted to see if I could improve my performance. Q. What was the hardest part of going vegan? A. Getting your head around not having to substitute meat with fake meat! There is protein in pretty much every wholefood so just eating more volume. Q. Do you use meat substitutes or avoid them? A. Sometimes, some are too meat-like for me now though! Q. What advice would you give a newbie who wants to go vegan? A. Become friends with your kitchen and experiment! Q. What is the easiest thing for them to start to do to make the switch? A. Don't look for a substitute for meat. Use the Deliciously Ella app - it's great and she has hundreds of different plantbased recipes on there. Q. How open/accommodating/ aware do you find Cumbria cafes and restaurants when you are out and about? A. Most places have some kind of options now, but Cumbria is definitely behind comparatively, when looking at the rest of England. We tend to just go to places we know. Q. How do you cope with eating out when there's a limited menu? A. I research before I go so there are no surprises! Always go out with snacks, just in case! Q. What advice would you give a newbie for coping with limited menus when travelling, or at parties etc? A. If I'm going to a party and don't know who prepared the food, I'll take snacks! TBH I have not had any issues in the last 5yrs. Veganism is so much better understood and with so many options, even junk food available at pretty much any supermarket, it's not a problem for non-vegan hosts. Q. Can you recommend any good cooking or baking tips / or quality food products/ or vegan resources to help newbies with the transition? A. Deliciously Ella (Books and an App) and YouTube – it's full of vegan recipe videos now, Instagram is also a great resource. Just look at hashtags such as #veganmeals #plantbased #veganfood. Also the volume of food! If you are eating mainly wholefoods, you will need to increase your quantities, as meat and dairy are very calorie dense. You will find that you are getting way above your RDA (recommended daily allowance) of vitamins and minerals if you eat a varied, mostly wholefood plant-based diet. Oh and there are so many brilliant vegan chocolate brands out there now! Vego Bar is my fave :) Roots of Life Wellness Magazine www.therootsoflife.co.uk 11 Your Seasonal Health Jonathan and Laura of Banilla Bakery, Windermere, provide plant-based treats. Laura’s exceptional baking skills showcase a delight of tasty cakes, and Jonathan’s plant-based coffee van, Fellside Coffee is a familiar sight around the area. I spoke to Jonathan about going plant-based: Top 5 high protein alternatives: • soya bean products (tofu, tempeh, edamame beans) • lentils and beans • peanuts and almonds • nutritional yeast • spelt and some grains Top 5 alternative calcium and vitamin D sources: • any green, leafy vegetables • soya foods • nuts and seeds • beans, peas and lentils • fortified plant milks Guide to Transitioning: • Swap out one meal a day to plant based • Swap cows milk for plant based milk • Read labels and ditch any foods with hidden animal products • Cut out gelatin (in an alarming amount of products!) Top Tips: • Fresh vegetables and fruit are key • Beans and wholegrain foods • Organic plant milks if possible • Plan your meals ahead and stock up on basics • Get a good quality Vit B supplement • Experiment with meals and have fun learning Whether you love animals, the environment, or just want to try a plant based diet, its important to remember that there are both healthy and unhealthy plant based foods. Any processed food can be high in salt, oil, sweeteners and sugar, and use unhealthy fats such as rapeseed oil. Plant-based newbies can be concerned about missing out on essential nutrients like calcium and proteins, traditionally associated with milk and meat. Proper Hydration - Improving Your Wellbeing Phone: 01764 662111 Email: [email protected] www.water-for-health.co.uk When was the last time you went to your doctor and he recommended that you drink more water? Probably never. Although the body is 70% water it is still regarded by many practitioners in the fields of medicine as simply filling up the spaces between the cells. Little attention has been given to its important role in the overall wellbeing of the body. Increasingly research is showing the benefits of proper hydration. What is clear is that any fluid will not meet the hydration needs of the body. Sadly tap water is not the best option for us. We need to drink water that is clean and has good structure. The structure (arrangement of the water molecules) has a significant impact on the absorption of the water in our bodies and the health of our cells. Although many companies in the field of water treatment focus purely on removing contaminants from water at point of use, there are other criteria which are important for us to gain the value of proper hydration. Health promoting water should be as clean as possible, have a slightly alkaline pH, anti-oxidant properties and good structure with beneficial minerals in it. Consuming good water helps proper hydration of the body with all the benefits that brings for energy, for immunity and the wellbeing of all our body systems. Over the last decades we have been conditioned to believe that only taking a pill, either a medicine or supplement, will help us improve our health. If we begin to consistently drink good health promoting water and get properly hydrated we will often find significant improvements in overall wellbeing. 14 Roots of Life Wellness Magazine www.therootsoflife.co.uk PRP to revolutionise hair growth Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy (PRP) is a treatment doctors and health practitioners have been using for some time to accelerate healing in various areas of the body. PRP has proven to be particularly effective in the treatment of hair loss in men who may be suffering from androgenetic alopecia, also known as male-pattern baldness, which is a common condition that causes hair follicles to shrink. What you need to know about male pattern baldness Male-pattern baldness refers to a loss of hair on the scalp. It happens as hormone levels change over a man's lifetime, and especially in the later years. It is thought to affect half of all men by the age of 50 years. Men normally lose their hair when three main factors interact: genetics, age, and hormones. These factors contribute to the gradual shrinkage of the tiny cavities in the skin at the base of hairs, known as scalp hair follicles. Hair grows progressively shorter and finer until no new hairs grow. Men with more first- and second-degree relatives who lose their hair have a higher chance of losing hair themselves. Many men see hair loss as a natural part of growing older, and they do not perceive the need for treatment. However, hair loss can trigger negative psychological effects, such as low self-esteem. In some, it can contribute to depression. How can PRP help? To understand how PRP works, it is important to be aware of the role that platelets play in healing. Platelets are a component of blood, along with red and white blood cells. When a person sustains a cut or wound, the platelets are some of the body's "first responders" that arrive to stop the bleeding and promote healing. Researchers theorised that if they could extract concentrated platelets and inject them into damaged areas of the body, they could accelerate healing. To produce PRP, your Health Professional will take a blood sample and put it into a machine called a centrifuge. This machine spins at a rapid rate, which separates the components of the blood. The platelets are then extracted for injection. PRP contains a range of growth factors and proteins that speed tissue repair. Repair Your Hair Growth with PRP Are you struggling with hair loss? At BioMed Natural Health Clinic, we provide a range of transformational treatments for long-term results. Here’s what you need to know about PRP for hair rejuvenation…

16 Your Therapies Access Bars is energy medicine! The Access Bars is a set of 32 points on the head which, when lightly touched, stimulate positive change in the brain. It is a very gentle, relaxing, yet profound energy healing treatment, suitable for all ages. The client lies down/reclines on a chair fully clothed whilst the practitioner touches various energy points on the head known as “the bars”. These energy points correspond to different aspects of one’s life. When touched they have the potential to release old thoughts, feelings, emotions, stuck energies and any old self-limiting beliefs. This creates more space and ease, releasing any stress, tension or worry. It is likened to pressing the delete button on your phone or computer! Having “your bars run” can be used to facilitate change in all/any areas of your life. Experiencing a session of Access Bars can create ease and change - you do not need to have “an issue” to experience and benefit from a treatment. It is a wonderful way to enhance your life, your health and wellbeing on a regular basis. The best way to find out more is to experience this amazing energy modality- its like a gift that keeps giving more space, peace and ease, creating new possibilities in Life! Clients feel much lighter, brighter, and have more clarity after an Access Bars session. Typical comments after a session include: “It really is an amazing experience! I feel calm, light and clear. It’s exactly what I needed” “I feel like a new person!” “I feel replenished, rejuvenated and restored.” “I had a wonderful night’s sleep after the treatment with you” “My head feels so spacious!” Clients will notice changes as they step back into their lives - no longer triggered by certain circumstances; issues get resolved almost “as if by magic” - as their personal energy has changed. Access Bars with Renate Wimborne Review by Debs Brookes After my first Access Bars session I woke with real clarity; and felt like I had more lightness in my life. Renate is such a warm, compassionate, non-judgemental person who helped me pick up on issues that no longer serve me, so that I could release them. I would highly recommend a treatment with Renate. The John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach® is considered to be the ultimate therapy that is safe, gentle and consistently effective in producing results that last. John F. Barnes, PT has trained over 100,000 therapists and physicians, is an international lecturer, author and authority on Myofascial Release. He is a physical therapist and is considered to be a visionary and teacher of the highest caliber. Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.) The medical approach is to drug patients so they temporarily are free from pain, but does nothing about the “straight-jacket” of pressure that is causing the pain. Traditional physical, occupational and massage therapy treats the symptoms caused by the pressure of the “straightjacket” of the Myofascial system, but does nothing about the “straightjacket” of pressure that causes and perpetuates the symptoms. This is why so many patients only have temporary results never seeming to get better with traditional therapy. Only Myofascial Release treats the entire Myofascial mind/body complex eliminating the pressure of the restricted Myofascial system (the straightjacket) that causes the symptoms. Students acquire an ability to self-learn while developing understanding and fluency of each topic before moving on to another. The Kumon Maths Programme progresses from the very basics of counting to calculus and beyond, all without the use of a calculator. Each level of the maths programme builds incrementally on the skills developed in the previous level, ensuring a solid understanding and the ability to put learning into practice. Every student will begin at a comfortable level for them. Their individual starting point, along with their expected projection rate, is established at a free assessment. Your Healthy Food and Drink Your Family's Education and Health Diane Peach Kumon Instructor Lancaster South Tel. 01524 807007 www.kumon.co.uk/lancaster-south Hello, my name is Diane Peach and I am the Instructor for Lancaster South Study Centre. I have been a qualified teacher for over 35 years. My career has covered primary, secondary and adult education, so I have a wide range of experience. I opened the study centre in July 2000, so we are a very well established and experienced centre. Your child's education is one of the most important things you'll ever have to make decisions about. Whether your child currently struggles with their work or is a potential high-flyer, we can help them to master maths and English. My job, as well as running the centre, is to guide and motivate students through the programme at their own optimum speed, setting goals and targets, and working together with them and their parents to ensure they are progressing and doing as well as they can. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of helping children fulfil their full potential. Many of my students achieve the Kumon Advanced Student Roll and academic excellence in their schools. Do give me a call about your child - we will do all we can to help them achieve their potential.

We cater for absolute complete beginners with zero fitness or dance background, right the way through to higher intermediate/ advanced students. Bexpoles Studio is a totally inclusive and non judgmental space for EVERY body. Pole and aerial fitness saved my life and shaped me into the person I am today. I owe being a good mum to the freedom to express myself that pole gives me. No matter who you are, you need to invest in yourself. You can learn a new skill like pole and aerial even if you have never set foot in a gym, which will be an investment in your physical and mental health. Fitness level doesn’t matter, your level of strength and coordination (or lack of it!) doesn’t matter one bit. You learn from the very beginning from absolute basics at your very first lesson, and build all you need strength-wise along your journey at Bexpoles Studio. It looks difficult at first, but each move is broken down fully with visual and verbal demonstrations, and practiced quite a few times. Classes start off super simple, you build up strength and knowledge to progress by attending classes each week. We have three power words hand painted on our wall: strength, empowerment and confidence. Who doesn’t want some of that?! Make ‘making you a priority’ the new trending thing. Nothing beats the feeling you get when your body remembers what your brain is telling it to do, it’s such a rush, and the giggles when you get it a little wrong are even better. It’s all part of the process and you won’t believe how fun it is! Whatever you are going through, pole & aerial fitness and the amazing friends you meet through this amazing community can get you through it. Surrounding yourself with some awesome people in a totally supportive space is the way forward. You will never make progress when you are comfortable, to be uncomfortable makes progress. Be uncomfortable, dance like no one is watching at Bexpoles Studio. 32 Roots of Life Wellness Magazine www.therootsoflife.co.uk Kambo is the sacred medicine and secretion of a giant green monkey tree frog native to the amazon, scientifically known as phyllomedusa bicolor. It is used by indigenous tribe’s and is also know as “Vaccine of the Forest”. The tribes men and women have a beautiful relationship with the frogs, they sing to them calling them down from the trees for harvest. The frogs are not harmed during the process and once the secretion is harvested they are released and they return back to the forest. Kambo is administered through tiny superficial burns to the top layer of the skin called gates where it is absorbed into the body. It is one of the strongest natural ways to strengthen the immune system with antiinflammatory, antibiotic, antimicrobial and anaesthetic effects and is a potent analgesic. It helps to release energetic blocks, negative Panama (bad luck) and toxins from the body whilst giving you strength and clarity. It is known to heal on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. Kambo is a purgative medicine. During the treatment you are required to drink 1-2 litres of water within 15-20 minutes. This helps the body to purge out the toxins once the Kambo is administered. A purge doesn’t necessarily mean vomit, it could mean having to go to the toilet, and sweating or it could also bring on a cathartic purge such as tears. Kambo has been used to treat Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Chronic pain Inflammation, Fertility issues, Deep rooted toxins, Vascular issues, Blood circulation problems, Arthritis, Addictions, eye and skin issues, Migraines, Menopause, Cancer and many more. Kambo ceremonies are a deep and profound experience that helps to release you from what no longer serves you, whether it be past pain, blocks or physical pain. A full in depth consultation is conducted prior to every treatment as some people who suffer from certain conditions will not be able to receive Kambo. I have been working with energy modalities for many years which I integrate within the work I do. Treatments are held in a safe non-judgmental space. My name is Pearl. I am a qualified Kambo Practitioner and Energy Healer offering 121 and small group treatments in Blackpool and across Lancashire. To book for a free consultation. Your Season's Crystals Written by Cindy Page of Sage and Thyme Lancaster www.sage-and-thyme.co.uk T 01524 68687 Nature shows us exactly what we should be doing in order to stay in FLOW, it’s time to LET GO! Look to the trees, the ancient ones, they gather up their energy in Autumn and let go of their leaves which have served their purpose over the Summer months. These leaves wither and fall, floating freely to the ground where they serve a new purpose, to act as mulch and provide nutrients to the Earth feeding the tree over Winter. Follow the leaves and go to GROUND, nurture yourself and REST. Autumn is a time to reflect on all you have achieved and gather energy for what’s next. 40 Roots of Life Wellness Magazine www.therootsoflife.co.uk Your Retirement and Care When visiting a home, you should be able to sense if there is a friendly atmosphere and a good rapport between staff and residents, high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping should be obvious. 1. Will I be treated as an individual? As far as possible, you should be able to choose how and where you wish to spend your day, what you’d like to do, who you’d like to see and what you’d like to eat. 2. What about my freedom and the quality of life? Your chosen home should very much be one that enables your life as much as possible. Caring for the whole person, and not just their medical needs, is of vital importance. There should be a varied activities programme to help maintain an active mind and social interaction, which should always be optional. 3. What about the location and the environment? The care home needs to be convenient for family and friends to visit, with plenty of parking and some public transport. Is the home individual and homely? Can you put your own stamp on it? The rooms should be bright and well maintained with a good outlook, and ideally you should be able to have some of your own furniture and personal items in your room. 4. Can you afford it? With the cost of care being so high, it can mount up quickly. Therefore, before moving into any home you need to understand their pricing structure. Is it transparent? Are there any hidden extra’s? Are you eligible for any financial funding or support? 5. What about the nursing home reputation? For an official assessment you can refer to the CQC report which all assessed homes will have. In addition, a Gold Standard Framework (GSF) award demonstrates sustainable best practice within a care home www.carehome.co.uk also offer helpful opinions and testimonials from residents of many nursing homes in the area, allowing you to compare.
