custom-built tooling, we provide a cutting tool that removes the flanges from the old bearing without damaging the bearing’s housing that will fit any application. The Aero Staking Installer/Remover (ASIR) is a product we offered, specifically designed to push out the previously cut, old bearing into the hinge’s bore. After cutting the edges of the bearing, most aerospace mechanics go on to remove it with a hammer or a mallet. As the hammer does not offer precision, tapping the old bearing out can damage the housing. During this process, the ASIR will make the mechanic’s job easier without damage. The ASIR provides significant saving for the customer by combining two

tools in one. The bearing must then be retained after installation in order for it to withstand axial forces and vibrations that are directed against it. Our company strongly recommends the replacement of all outdated and potentially dangerous anvil stakers with the newly created Tri-Roller Swaging Tools, as they are more reliable, safer, and have a better controlled process over older generation tools. Aero Staking’s area of expertise, and the inspiration for our name, is staking. We continue to manufacture line, spherical ball, and segment impression staking tools as substitute retention mechanisms for bearings without a race groove or lip at their edges for swaging.

Our mechatronics tool called the Bearing Proof Loader tests the bearing retention’s quality to ensure it can withstand axial forces and vibrations acting against it. The tool has become indispensable, and even a requirement, in bearing installation or replacement procedures of aircraft parts from major OEMs. Aside from that, to guarantee that the bearing was not harmed in the process, an instrument we designed called a Breakaway Torque Testing Tool breaks the inner race of the bearing’s torque while simultaneously recording its maximum value. 5 Powerful Features to Look for in MRO Software Article Courtesy of Component Control MRO & Logistics Software Solutions

access to tools such as ILS Bridge and SalesEdge.

As the world becomes increasingly digital, the aviation MRO industry is no exception. Generally speaking, any worthwhile MRO software solution will include core features like compliance management, components tracking, inventory control, maintenance scheduling, and work order management. These tools are the bread and butter of aviation MRO — you shouldn’t even consider software that doesn’t offer the basics. When it comes to picking out an MRO software, look for differentiators that will impact your efficiency. Here are a few next-level bells and whistles that will maximize your team’s efficiency and keep your systems operating smoothly.

2. On-the-Go Mobile Flexibility In a traditional aviation MRO facility, you can expect a lot of tedious paperwork and back-and-forth between workstations. It’s slow, inefficient, and often requires a lot of manual data entry. MRO software with mobile capabilities goes a long way in eliminating that lost time and speeding up your process — and all it takes is an app on your phone or tablet. There’s a lot you can do from a phone or tablet, and the exact features will vary between MRO software providers. Look for features like: • Cycle counts — Instead of printing physical inventory count sheets and re-entering data into your computer, handle everything from your phone. • Scan barcodes — Identify stock line details of any part sitting in the warehouse or shop floor. • Auto receive and create locations — While walking around your warehouse, use your phone to mark locations and segment your warehouse in real-time. • Digital imaging — Snap photos and upload them directly to your MRO software. • Work order and job card management — Eliminate paper, automate labor recording, track completion, and digitize instruction and sign-off. • Analytics — Instant view of KPI’s, performance, capacity, profitability.

1. Seamless Integration Between Modules Anyone involved in aviation MRO knows that it’s a complex logistical web that involves a lot of moving parts. Managing the supply chain, scheduling maintenance, tracking work and repair orders, generating quotes and invoices — the list goes on and on. Some MRO software companies will offer a full suite of tools to help with all your core needs. Others rely more heavily on third-party integrations to fill the gaps they don’t yet offer. While researching your MRO software options, look for an end-to-end solution that includes all the features you need to operate efficiently. By working with an end-to-end solution like Quantum Control, you can count on smooth integrations between all the modules, from high-level analytics to nitty-gritty inventory management. Data logically flows from module to module as needed, eliminating double entry and processing errors. That said, integrations aren’t inherently a bad thing. Even the most robust MRO software solutions will integrate with specialized companies like SITA, FedEx, and UPS. As long as the integrations are well-built and transfer data accurately, integrations can offer flexibility and streamline your workflow. The company’s relationship with the integrator matters, too. At Component Control, we work with our sister company, ILS, to create fast, seamless direct

overhaul of doors, cowlings, inlets, flight control surfaces, leading edges, thrust reversers, and more. Equipped with two computer-controlled autoclaves on-site, DAS offers sophisticated composite-bonded repairs and overhauls. DAS also helps clients meet their aerospace welding needs with

43 cy. • MRO job quoting to help you track sales data and pipeline opportunities • Dashboard customization to organize the data and access the most important numbers first. 4. Support and Training Beyond the software itself, powerful MRO software will offer the support you and your team need to be successful. At its most basic, that means answering questions or troubleshooting issues. Other than tech support, training will help your team work more efficiently, leading to increased profitability and fewer mistakes. At Component Control, we offer onsite, remote, and web-based training options. You can even visit our San Diego Academy in California for hands-on, instructor-led classes!

consider the future and the company’s current trajectory, too. Regular software updates, new features, and constant improvements are sure signs of a healthy, forward-thinking company that isn’t happy with mediocrity. At Component Control, we invest millions of dollars in product development every year to create the best possible solutions for our customers.

5. Regular Updates and Improvements One of the most powerful signs of great MRO software is continual improvement. When researching MRO software, don’t just look at the current features —
