INTRODUCTION
A picture speaks a thousand words! Rather than having plain text, a picture will add more meaning to the document. MS Word allows you to add and edit graphics easily. However, it is better to use other graphics tools to create and refine graphics and then include it in the Word
document. You can copy an image from web, another graphic tool or use a clip art.
4
CLIP ART Clip art is a collection of images, both line art and pictures, that you’re free to use in your documents. Inserting a clip art image works much like inserting a graphics image. Steps:
On the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click Online Pictures.
A pop-up will appear allowing you to search Office.com or Bing.
In one of the search boxes, type a keyword for the clip art you would like to find (e.g., flowers) > press Enter.
From the resulting list of pictures, choose the one you would like to add > Click Insert.
After you insert a clip art image, you can use the Picture Tools Format tab on the Ribbon to adjust and
modify the image. Also, you have 3D Models which is a new kind of Clip Art. Check this: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/add-clip-art-to-your-file-0a01ae25-973c-4c2c-8eaf-

ADDING CAPTION Rather than adding images for text decoration, we can reference images in our content
To best reference an image, you should add a caption. The caption’s text can explain what’s in the image. You can add captions to figures, equations, or other objects. To add a caption to an image:
Click to select the graphic.
From the References tab’s Captions group, click the Insert Caption button.
In the Caption text box, type the figure caption text.
Choose a position for the caption from the Position drop-down list.
1. Text that you select or create. 2. Number that Word inserts for you
When you add captions to images, you can create list of figures easily. Check this: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/add-format-or-delete-captions-in-word-82fa82a4-f0f3-438f-a422-

PLACING TEXT AROUND AN IMAGE To control how an image and text interact, click the image to select it. When the image is selected, a Format tab appears, from which you can choose the Text Wrapping
menu, found in the Arrange group.
Wrapping options:
In Line with Text: The image is treated like text
Square: The image sits on the same plane as the text, but the text flows around the image in a square pattern, regardless of the image’s shape.
Tight: Text flows around the image and hugs its shape.
Through: Text flows around the image as best it can, similar to the Tight option.
Top and Bottom: Text stops at the top of the image and continues below the image.
Behind Text: The image floats behind the text, looking almost like the image is part of the paper.
In Front of Text: The image floats on top of your text, like a photograph dropped on the paper.
Edit Wrap Points: You can specifically control how text wraps around an image.

IMAGE EDITING Word offers some touch-up features to deal with images.
However, it is better to use graphic editing tools before you bring them to MS Word. Possible editing options:
Resizing an image
Rotating an image
Cropping an image – while making the image smaller, some content is eliminated.
Changing an image’s appearance
Pictures can be manipulated by using the tools found in the Adjust group on the Picture Tools Format tab.
Arranging multiple images
Use the Bring to Front and Send to Back buttons in the Format tab’s Arrange group.
To keep multiple images lined up, use the Align button’s menu.

WORDART
WordArt is a quick way to make text stand out with special effects. You begin by picking a WordArt style from the WordArt gallery, launched from
the Insert tab, which you can then customize. Check this: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/insert-wordart-c5070583-1ebe-
