We caught up with Lauren Thomas ahead of this afternoon’s game as the forward reflects on the team’s recent few months and `also looks ahead to today’s clash. Tommo, what have you made of the team’s performances since the last international break?
I give everything I can to create those chances for us to score and I will continue doing that for the rest of the season.
There are definitely some positives that we can take from the last few months, games and performances. And now it’s about gluing everything together and focusing on the last month of the season and getting some results. We’re trying new things on the training pitch and that is showing on a gameday. So, it’s good that we are showing them, but it’s now can we just get that final part of it to get that result that we have been waiting for.
You have come close to getting off the mark for the season in our recent games, do you feel a goal is coming for you?
We have seen different players getting a chance to start recently, how important is it for everyone to play their part? Personally, whenever I’m on the bench I’m there supporting the girls to help them get the result that we need and then when I’m on the pitch
I think I just need to take the pressure of myself a bit. It’s there and I can feel it coming I just need to relax and hopefully one of those chances will go in soon and then can move forward with that. Lastly looking ahead to today’s game, how important will our home advantage be? When we played Charlton last at home, we put on a good performance for the crowd so hopefully they will be back to support us on Sunday and give us that extra push to get that result we need. I think if we all stick together, we are more than capable of getting the win.
