La misión de Leavell College del Seminario Teológico Bautista de New Orleans es equipar a los líderes para cumplir la Gran Comisión y los Grandes Mandamientos a través de la iglesia local y sus ministerios. Valor Principal En cada año académico, se acentúa un vaalor principal. En este año académico el valor principal es Enfoque Misionero – “No estamos aquí para meramente alcanzar una educación o darla. Estamos aquí para cambiar al mundo por el cumplimiento de la Gran Comisión y los Grandes Mandamientos a traves de la iglesia local y sus minmisterios.” Descripción del Curso El propósito de este curso es capacitor al estudiante para interpreter pasajes seleccionados de tres de los Libros Históricos del Antiguo Testamento: Samuel, Reyes, y Crónicas. Se examinará el arte de la escritura de la historia bíblica. Se discutirá información histórica pertinente y materials introductorios para cada uno de los libros. Serán presentados bosquejos y sumarios de cada uno de los libros. La mayor parte de las clases se centrarán en la exégesis de textos escriturarios paralelos en Samuel/Crónicas y Reyes/Crónicas Objetivos del Estudiante Para el final del semester, el estudiante: 1. Estará introducido a las narrativas de historia bíblica, a los asuntos literarios de narrativas bíblicas, y a la escritura de historia bíblica; 2. Entenderá el trasfondo histárico de los libros indivicuales –Samuel, Reyes y Crónicaspara interpreter las narrativas en estos libros; 3. Será capaz de interpreter pasajes paralelos seleccionados de los Libros de Samuel/Crónicas y Reyes/Crónicas;

4. Discernirá temas claves hallados en los libros de Samuel, Reyes y Crónicas; 5. Descubrirá aplicaciones actuales para las verdades halladas en los libros de Samuel, Reyes y Crónicas; y 6. Será retado a internalizar las verdades de los libros de Samuel, Reyes y Crónicas en su vida personal. El estudiante asistirá a las clases y participará en las discusiones de clase. El estudiante se adherirá a la póliza de asistencia establecida en el catálogo. Cualquier estudiante que pierda más de nueve horas de clase recibirá un grado automático de F por el curso, a menos que sea excusado por el Dean de Leavell College. Tres llegadas tarde cuentan como una ausencia. 2.

El estudiante leerá los libros de Samuel, Reyes y Crónicas en una versión de su preferencia y mantendrá una hoja de reporte diario de lecturas con los capítulos y las fechas correspondientes; este reporte se presentará al final del semestre. Asimismo el estudiante LEERA las secciones apropiadas en NAC Y OTROS COMENTARIOS que cubran los pasajes asignados para cada día de clase. La participación del estudiante en las discusiones de clase demostrará que ha leído los materiales requeridos.

El estudiante tomará una Prueba en Septiembre 10 cubriendo narrativa de historia bíblica e introducción a Samuel. La segunda Prueba el 24 de Sept. Sobre pasajes discutidos en clase. Otra se hará el 8 de Octubre cubriendo introducciones a los Reyes y a las Crónicas, y la última Noviembre 5 sobre caracteres bíblicos.

El estudiante participará en grupos de discusión de pasajes seleccionados. Cada grupo es responsable de dirigir la discusión en clase para los días que se le asignen, de leer los materiales asignados y liderar la clase. Además, el estudiante completará una hoja de trabajo sobre el pasaje expuesto y la entregará al inicio de la clase. Se requiere que cada estudiante comparta alguno de los textos sugeridos y se envuelva activamente en la discusión de su grupo.

Cada estudiante presentará una monografía de 9 o 10 páginas de extensión en conformidad al formato aceptado por el Seminario. El estudiante podrá seleccionar el pasaje entre varios ofrecidos por el profesor antes del 10 de Septiembre. El trabajo debe contener exégesis y usar siete fuentes informáticas incluyendo artículos y comentarios especificando las referencias legales y adecuadas. Citas a otros artículos deben ser consignadas. El plagio es una violación sancionada por las autoridades educacionales y su penalidad académica puede resultar en suspensión del grado y/o separación del seminario. Este trabajo debe presentarse el 3 de Diciembre.

Por respeto a los demás, los estudiantes deben colocar los teléfonos celulares en silencio durante la clase. En ningún momento durante la clase se deben utilizar computadoras / smartphones / tablets para otra cosa que no sea los apuntes de clase y asignaciones. Los estudiantes que usan dispositivos electrónicos personales para cualquir otra cosa durante la clase serán considerados ausentes. El profesor se reserva el derecho de pedir a los estudiantes a descontinuar el uso de computadoras, teléfonos o tabletas.
