DECEM BER 2 0 2 2 | IS S UE 10 Editorial On 19th November 2022, Malaysians carried out their responsibilities as citizens by voting for 15th General Election (GE) after the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, announced the dissolution of the 14th parliament. The 15th GE situation saw myriad of Malaysians, especially the young, excited, and enthusiastic voters went out to vote after the government announced the implementation of UNDI 18 in Malaysia. For students, voting is a crucial matter to consider as it can influence their future depends on the next government especially in getting jobs. Following the UNDI 18, young generation are now aware of the power given by the state to the youth in electing authoritative leaders to fight for their rights. On the last GE 14, social media did not significantly impact voter: in fact, at that time, UNDI 18 had not yet been implemented. But this time, it is seen that the power social media plays a critical role. A study conducted by the researchers from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in collaboration with the Department of Community Communications (J-KOM) found that the TikTok platform is the main channel for 18-year-old prospective voters from all over the country to obtain information about politics. Other than that, the writer can see the differences in political tendencies on Twitter and TikTok applications that show several understandings of politics from different age groups. Based on a quick research on Twitter, user @mrbunroy shared his stories that his younger siblings explained about his view on politics based on what had been shared in TikTok. This scenario clearly shows that UNDI 18 voters have not matured enough in evaluating the political parties and making decision. Things like this clearly show that a person’s decision or view on political issues depends on what they see and hear but they did not want to make a research or comparison between any political parties before deciding on which one they want to vote. From the writer’s observation, the users in Twitter mainly supporting Pakatan Harapan and TikTok users supporting Perikatan Nasional. This opinion does not mean that the writer disagrees with the implementation of UNDI 18, however the youth voters need more awareness or exposure about politics. Thus, the politics class provided by Fahmi Reza to the public, especially the youth, needs to be held to provide early exposure and further information about the election of certain political parties. While in Islam there is a concept of Tabayyun. The word of Allah SWT in Surah al-Hujurat, verse 6 means: "O you who believe, if a wicked person comes to you with news, then check carefully so that you do not cause a disaster to a people without knowing, then you will regret for your actions”. If we practice the concept, we will do research first and confirm the news found to be fair to any political parties to make accurate decisions without the influence of others. . NUREMYLIA MAISYARA Editor-in-Chief Everyone has the right to express their opinion but let’s not belittle someone's level of thinking. Every Malaysian wishes for a best leader and of course, the leaders already carried out their responsibilities with certitude. . Nowadays, each news or issues can spread widely and quickly because of the existence of social media. Because of this, social media plays an essential role in the tendency of a person's political understanding. However, it does not matter what age group we are in and what application we use, we must educate ourselves and be confident in our own choices without being influenced by any party. As a user of social media, we need to be wise in trusting any dispute so that we can maximize the benefit from it. We hope that every application on social media is well-used and not exploited as a weapon to create conflict with one another Editorial The understanding of politics based on age and social media

The beautiful sides of Pulau Kapas By: Nuremylia Maisyara Rosli “what are the plans for this semester break?” I asked my high school friends who also happened to be my travel bud- dies. “To the island!” they an- swered simultaneously. “But which island?” I asked. After several discussions and com- parison, five of us chose Pulau Kapas in Terengganu as our vacation destination this time. Pulau Kapas was more suitable for us who wanted a student budget and last-minute vaca- tion. The island is complete with various exciting activities and ideal to spend the day with all fa- cilities and goings-on provided. Before we started our vaca- tion, we booked a travel tour from an agency that offered a complete package includ- ing lunch, transportation and snorkelling equipment for our retreat in Pulau Kapas The journey to Terengganu On 28th September, we travelled by car from Perak to Terengganu. We decided to drive because we do not want to be bound by time. Around 8 a.m., we got together and started our long journey; excited and nervous because it was our very first vacation with a long-distance trip. We had a light breakfast before we met, so we agreed to not stop at any R&R and continue our journey. We chose to go through the East Coast Expressway (LPT) instead of the road in Gua Musang as we believed the path was safer, even though it would take a bit longer than other roads – as the saying goes, it was better safe than sorry. After we passed the LPT, we stopped at Kuantan and filled our bellies for lunch with the Pahang community’s traditional food, which is ‘Patin Masak Tempoyak’. After that, we continued our long journey to Kuala Terengganu.. We reached the Land of Artisans after an 8-hour journey. We stayed instead of Marang since we wanted to experience the outstanding lift bridge the Terengganuans’ glory. That night, we took a tour of the city, seeing places like ‘Batu Buruk Beach,’ the lift bridge, and getting our caffeine fix. We couldn’t do much else that night but eat and take pictures because the weather didn’t allow anyone to go sightseeing. We opted to return to the hotel early in order to conserve energy for the following day’s activities. Full of hope, we prayed that the weather would be on our side as we would be spending the entire day at Pulau Kapas next morning. The day in Pulau Kapas The day we had been awaiting came. Thank heavens, the weather was perfect. We left early due to a 9 a.m. meeting Patin Masak Tempoyak at Go’Bang with the agency, and the trip from Kuala Terengganu to Marang Jetty took 15 minutes. We ate breakfast ahead of time because the tour only provided us with lunch. When we got there, one of my buddies took care of our reservations with Makcik Gemuk Boat and Services’s staff. It did not take long at all. At our joy, the entrance fee to Taman Laut was merely RM5. As a faster alternative than ferries, we chose a speed boat to reach Pulau Kapas. Alas, the boat arrived quickly. Because there were just 8 visitors on the boat, the cruise was pleasant. The trip to the isle, which is not The view of South China Sea from Bukit Singa Travel article

far from the mainland, took around 15 minutes. As our boat reached the magnificent island – surrounded by crystal blue sea – our jaws dropped in awe. Once we landed, the tour guide outlined the activities available on the island as well as the time we had to return because we did not intend to stay overnight. Our first activity was hiking at Bukit Singa. Surrounded by flat slope cliffs and coastal rocks, this popular hiking spot in Pulau Kapas is perfect for amateur climbers We reached at the highest peak after about ten minutes of climbing. It is not difficult as it can be done by people of all ages. When we arrived, the most hyped must-do activity was a photo op. The view from above extends as far as the eye can perceive, and the South China Sea appears to have no end. “Glory be to Allah,” was the only phrase that came out of our mouths. We were enchanted and repeatedly praised God’s marvellous creation. We sat at the top for quite some time, listening to the waves crashing and birds chattering. It was such a breath-taking and peaceful moment. We all remembered to snap some shots and spend quiet time alone with ourselves. Pleased, we descended from the mountain, seeking for one of the magical fascinations – the ‘Blue Lagoon.’ The hidden gem is only visible during high tide and is located at the bottom of Bukit Singa. While showing us the path to the lagoon, our chaperon warned us about the spikey rocks. Swimming was extremely hazardous given the fierce and dangerous waves. However, taking photographs (under his supervision) was permissible. Afterwards, we moved on to the main event, snorkelling. As we were assembling our gear, the guide instructed us on the snorkelling places, including a time limit of two hours. Pulau Kapas, unlike other Terengganu archipelagos, is known for its gorgeous corals and multi-coloured fish. The pure water allows us to observe the stunning seafloor. “If you are lucky, you might come across a few stingrays, but don’t approach them. Keep your distance because they may become enraged and release their venom,” explained the tour guide. Indeed, we were fortunate as we were able to swim beside a big stingray and its pup. Our Bukit Singa that full of coastal rocks group overjoyed to get the chance to meet one in its natural environment. We did not take any pics – the spectacular occasion flew by in a heartbeat. Shortly, we were greeted with a slew of fish that we were unaware of. God’s creation is so precise that each fish is unique. It is all thanks to Allah, the Greatness. When we were in the moment, two hours whiz by. “I’m starving,” my pal said. It was time to eat. After the arduous activity, we ate in silence due to the hunger. Surprisingly, the chicken curry was appetizing. Once we done, we chilled and chatted for a little while in the Kapas Cafe as the weather was tropical and humid. A little bit later, we opted to wander around the island for photos, as Pulau Kapas is a fascinating, and really underrated island. By 3 in the afternoon, we call it a day. One of my friends called our travel agent to arrange for a pick-up before returning to the Marang Jetty. It took 10 minutes before we boarded the boat, taking us back to the mainland. Our hearts tightened as we leave Pulau Kapas. It is a perfect escape for anyone who wants peace from the effervescence of the city. Even though the archipelago is a bit smaller in comparison to other Malaysia’s islands, the islet provided us with countless of memories. Pulau Kapas is felicitous for anyone looking for a low-cost vacation, as it guarantees an unforgettable moment from the minute you arrive. I thank the Almighty for ensuring things run smoothly during our journey to Terengganu. And… Happy times and loved ones are the best combination I could wish for.

Signpost of Moonkissed River Find your escape by becoming one with nature: Flora & Fauna By: Nur Aisah Jumfrizal Life goes on… but all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy. Moonkissed by the River, situated outside of the town of Hulu Langat, is a perfect getaway to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. I had planned a quick excursion with my fellow pals and we agreed to go as the new semester began which was the second week of our semester. Located in Selangor, Moonkissed River offered both camping and glamping (‘glamorous camping’ – typically involves more comfort and luxury), making it a phenomenal spot for Instagrammers, glampers and nature lovers to explore. We chose traditional camping over glamping to liven up the atmosphere by exploring the nature there. Moonkissed River is a great place for camping as it has a flowing river nearby, which may not be in other campsites. From Nilai to Moonkissed River We left our houses at midday with a six-seater rental car, the “Perodua Alza.” My friends, who drove the car, picked us up at our respective rental houses. From Negeri Sembilan to Hulu Langat, it took two hours to reach the final destination. The tiring road trip whetted our appetite, so we made a pit stop at Salman Nasi Kandar fornourishment. “Whoa, the food must be superb!” my pal, Syarnieza, gasped; amazed by a long queue of customers as our cars passed the restaurant. Impressively, the service was quick as a flash, allowing us to have our meal fast. The well-loved Nasi Kandar, which came with a generous stack of softly f l a v o u r e d rice, crispy m a r i n a t e d chicken, a range of curries, and n u m e r o u s kinds of c o n d i m e n t s , such as papadam and boiled duck egg – greatly s a t i s f i e d our hunger. Full and content, we continued our trip to Moonkissed River, safely arriving at 3 in the afternoon. It was Travel article

were seen in peace and ease in their enclosures. Our last stop was the pair of cuddly pandas, Xing Xing and Liang Liang, with their cub, Sheng Yi! We rejoiced with anticipation since it was our first time to meet them in live. “They are so adorable! Can we bring one home?” chirped my friend. The five of us chortled. That was the final stop of our excursion. Before returning to Nilai, we made our way to IOI City Mall for Maghrib prayer and a delicious dinner Even if we were exhausted, we revelled in our short trip. The night sky was aglow with bright stars on our way home. We sang along in the car happily to liven up the mood, even as our hearts wept to end this short vacation. Overall, the outing was absolutely remarkable. “We were blessed,” my tiny heart whispered. Our bond of friendship has never been this close before. All praise belongs to Him – It was a truly, cherished piece in my book of life. The entrance of Zoo Negara raining before, hence we had it rough as the road was wet and slippery. Once we were out of the vehicles, we marched to the registration; to confirm our reservation and pay for the rented materials: tents, a ground sheet, a BBQ pit, and a stove gas. It costs RM170 in total, but we already paid a deposit of RM100 for the camping site when we booked it via WhatsApp a week before our arrival. After complet- ing the registra- tion, we went to our camping site. Whilst we were busy unloading, one of the employees kindly helped us put up the tents. Two rental tents for two genders. Thankfully, our camping sites were strategically placed near the river, car lots, and amenities. The Moonkissed River, a refreshing pause From afar, we could practically hear the thunderous sound of the flowing river and the singing birds – as if they were welcoming us. The sooth- ing and relaxing atmo- sphere calmed our hearts. One of the provided facil- ities and the environment of Moonkissed Campsite On a different note, the amenities were fantastic. We could see that the glam sites treated their guests with great hospitality as they provided a small mosque for prayers, clean bathrooms and lavatories, sockets for electronics, and lamps around the campground. “Let’s take a dip in the river!” shouted one of my companions, Husna, thrilled with the idea. Just after the Dhuhur prayers, we jumped into the stream. “God, it’s freezing!” we yelped. The water was crystal clear, and we could feel our feet being nibbled by a couple of small fish. We squealed at the strange sensations at first, but after a while, we were so used to them that we didn’t want to take our feet out of the water! Our bellies grumbled (we literally spent two hours in the water), and we were ready for our all-time fa- vourite activity: barbecuing. When it came to dinner preparations, each of us had our own job. My two friends were in charge of lighting the barbecue, while the rest teamed up on cooking and arranging the dining space. Spaghetti carbonara, well-seasoned marinated chicken, and a container of sausage were our miscellany of alfresco dining that night. A torrential downpour appeared out of nowhere. We hurried into the tents, dejected that we couldn’t sit and eat on time – as there was no other option than to wait for the shower to stop. Right on 9 o’clock, we ultimately gather to eat. The absence of internet service helped tighten our ties. We spent the most of our night without any dis- traction from social media. We hit the hay at 1 a.m. As a first-timer, sleeping in a tent wasn’t as bad as I assumed. Of course, it didn’t share the same softness as the bedroom mattress, but the adventure was memorable. Later on, we drove to Restoran Daging Salai House, located not far from Moonkissed River, which offered us a variety of scrumptious “salai” (known as “smoked”) selections for our lunch. We had “gulai lemak cili api itik salai,” “gulai lemak cili api siput sedut,” “gulai lemak cili api ayam,” and “sambal paru” as our choices to be eaten with white fluffy rice. Zoo Negara wraps up our vacation. To wrap up our retreat, we visited the “legendary” Zoo Negara. I believe that most of us shared similar childhood grins and giggles. It was a delight, since it has been a while. If you are an adult and Malaysian, the recent entrance fee will cost you about RM45, including the panda tour. As we were about to go in, we were halted by an outgoing photographer, who requested shots. The first thing we spotted was the multi-animal show at the Zoo Negara Show Amphitheatre. Roosters, parrots, and a sea lion were the fauna performing that day. It warmed our hearts to realise how the wildlife were well-trained and well-loved by their devoted trainers, in that they were able to obey the instructions given during the show. The minute the spectacle was over, we ambled around the zoo to greet the rest of the beasts. There were a plentiful supply of notorious cold-blooded reptiles with epidermal scales, such as snakes, lizards, and crocodiles, at the sanctuary. Meanwhile, the felidae mammals— tigers and lions—not to forget the brainy giraffes— Among the animals in Zoo Negara

Profilefeature INAQ: Program for the future of Muslims By: Muhammad Taufiq sapari Meeting Professor Dr. Mohd Radhi Ibrahim, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), was like experiencing a private class where each sharing from the interview gave a lot of fresh information that we don’t often get to know. We started the introduction by giving a quick overview of Prof. Dr. Mohd Radhi’s history, which only a small number of people are aware of: he is a native of Kelantan. He also expressed his hope for a better environment for Muslims in the future. He successfully continued his studies to the level of a bachelor’s degree at Al-Azhar University, a master’s degree at the University of Malaya, and a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is amazing that every subject is focused on understanding Muslim thoughts and feelings as well as their beliefs and philosophy. Learning about Islamic studies, in the opinion of Professor Dr. Mohd Radhi, is unavoidable since it starts with a greater sense of interest in every response, particularly when questions concerning religion are involved. These problems are a constant source of contention among Muslims, particularly when it comes to interpretations of Islamic law. As a result, different perspectives may be filtered as effectively as possible with the right comprehension of each piece of information. Nonetheless, we should still seek references from qualified specialists to ensure that the knowledge you receive is accurate. It was noticeable that Prof. Dr. Mohd. Radhi “Always desire for information and enjoy the rewards of knowl edge because in the reading there must be trust that this knowledge will be utilised to assist Muslims to comprehend more readily and should acquire references from scholars so that there is no misinterpretation

never stopped grinning during the interview process, grinning in response to every question and offering suggestions and encouragement to succeed in every answer. However, being at the highest position is not an easy matter because this is a trust that needs to be given, and he is willing to take a risk with the vision and mission that have been set, which is to make Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia a leader or reference in INAQ in 2025. “INAQ is a programme for the integration of Naqli and Aqli knowledge obtained from the Qur’an and the Sunnah as well as scientific discussion and harmonising the views that exist among USIM people so that it can facilitate and aid Muslims better.” he said. In addition, a booklet has been created as a result of the meeting, and each of its chapters provides a more thorough explanation of the background to and rationale for the creation of INAQ. “All of these accomplishments would not be possible without the assistance of USIM employees, who are also active in and support the INAQ initiative” he added. Additionally, he attempted to broaden USIM’s network abroad by discussing the success of this INAQ initiative, and in the end was successful in collaborating with several top colleges in the Middle East. “I presented the INAQ concept to the university deans, and we exchanged some thoughts. Luckily, they really liked this idea and wanted to know how we might adapt it to the students at USIM,” he said. He successfully shared each accomplishment one at a time with positive outcomes. Nothing makes him happier than witnessing every USIM student use the INAQ idea successfully in their coursework and extracurricular pursuits.

Undi18, a successful campaign to give 18-year-olds the right to vote and run for office, changed the course of Malaysia history. A young representative named Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was the one who made this change happen. This shows the power of democracy started by young people. After two votes, 211 of the 222 members of Parliament backed the 2019 Constitution (Amendment) Bill which is more than two-thirds of the members of the House of Representatives. Due to this, the age to vote and be a representative of the people in Malaysia went down from 21 to 18. For a long term, Undi18 can bring new ideas to the way political parties are run and how the government makes decisions. 17 Youth of 18 years old should be able to vote because they are can contribute to the society’s economy, take on the responsibilities of citizenship, be bound by contracts, pay taxes, work, and be responsible for themselves. However, Awani said that most young adults in Sekinchan town admitted that they didn’t know much about power and politics when choosing a government. This was because the Undi18 amendment came as a surprise. It’s no surprise that most people follow the lead of their family members when it comes to their voting habits. The key to select the best candidate for Parliament is to research both party and candidate. Choosing who to vote for will undoubtedly difficult, especially if you are voting for the first time. Gather as much information as you can before casting your vote, as it will significantly impact– not only your future – but also the country’s destiny. Learn about the candidates, particularly the prime ministerial contenders, to understand their impact in recent years. Most, are relatively active on social media, so follow them for updates and information about their political talks during the campaigning period. Attending these talks will give you a better understanding of what they are running and what they are ‘fighting’ for. It is also worthwhile to study and sift over each coalition’s manifesto to understand what they are proposing and hoping to do, from managing inflation and growing living costs to removing corruption, environmental issues, and restructuring the education system. More young people will take part in making decisions in electing the forthcoming leaders at both the federal and state levels as the Undi18 gives them a place to do so. Even though some people do not believe in the abilities of young adults, this kind of chance is seen as the best way for the country to raise up future leaders. Young people are more open in making decisions when they have access to a wide range of information. The sooner the adolescents are allowed to take part in the democratic process, the sooner they are ready to lead the country. Young people need to learn more about voting and how the democratic system works. Take advantage of the chances you have. Today, they do not just have to listen to and do what the older generation tells them to do; they also have the right to make decisions and shape the future of the country. It is hoped that the younger generation will now be able to use their rights wisely, maturely, and well. How you vote is up to you, there is no wrong way to vote, but all young Malaysians should have the chance to do so. Source:Malaysianow

Since I entered the field of education, there have been questions that have been lingering in my mind. How can I manage my time wisely? How am I going to do all of this? Time management is crucial because it leads to a meaningful life. Time management for everyone is about making the best of each day. It is about taking control of your time and optimizing it for productivity, focus, and, most importantly, balance. Here are some helpful time management tips for students. Firstly, everyone should have a life goal, and the primary purpose of life is to serve Allah. A good and obedient servant should be able to manage his or her time effectively. As Allah said in Qur’ an: “ By time, indeed, mankind is in loss, Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.” [Quran, 103: 1-3] Thus, let us live our lives to the fullest because every second, minute, and hour is a gift from Allah. This life is so short and fleeting, so take advantage of the opportunity, work hard, and put your faith in Allah. Everyone should seek greatness. Be a person who positively impacts and significantly contributes Pomodoro technique. Credit photo: passionplanner Time management for students By : Nur Farahiyah Zamri to the family, society, and country. Secondly, keep in mind to always make a daily schedule. The schedule can assist us in focusing on the most critical tasks. Make a list of the tasks that require immediate attention before begin your day. Less essential tasks can consume your limited time because they require more energy than necessary to complete and are often more manageable and less stressful to complete. On the other hand, it is vital to identify the more important tasks that must be completed each day because it contributes to daily productivity. This is because once you know where to direct your daily energy, you will plan your day according to the best rules for you and your daily schedule. Simply completing the most critical tasks first can help you focus better. You are also encouraged to use the alltime popular ‘Pomodoro’ technique to stay focused on a task. Besides, choose the most important thing to which you need to commit. A good student should be conscious of his or her studies. Never underestimate your ultimate responsibilities as a student. Be a diligent and well-informed student. As Allah said in Qur’an : O who believe! When you are told to make room in your gatherings, make room; Allah will make room for you. And when you are told to disperse, disperse. Allah elevates those among you who believe, and those given knowledge, many steps. Allah is Aware of what you do. (Quran 58 : 11) Opinion article

Therefore, as a student, you should always practice good manners in everything you do. Moreover, spare time with valuable hobbies. Find a hobby that provides numerous benefits. A good hobby can be a form of therapy and an excellent way to relieve stress. Reading, drawing, and writing are some examples of enjoyable hobbies, and they are beneficial to one’s mental health. These are both educational and engaging pastimes. Outdoor activities such as cycling, jogging, camping, and football have numerous advantages, promoting a healthy lifestyle. Never waste your free time by engaging in unproductive activities such as illegal racing, watching television, or playing online games for an extended period. Spend your free time doing things that will help you learn new things and positively impact your life. In conclusion, good time management requires the ability to perform tasks and organize them in a way that saves time. Time is valuable to successful individuals; they cannot let time pass without doing something. This is the primary reason successful individuals can accomplish so much in such a short time. If you manage your time well, you might be surprised at how much time you have. Remember that time is gold. Credit photo: Campground

Movie review

Discover true love at the dawn with Cinta Subuh by : Husna Abdul Razak Are you wondering why the movie is titled ‘Cinta Subuh’? Did their love blossom at dawn? Or their first meeting that happened at dawn? Cinta Subuh is a film by Indra Gunawan, adapted from a novel by Alii Farighi. This film starred by Dinda Hauw as Radinka Atikah Wafiah (Ratih) and Rey Mbayang as Rizky Anangga Wijayanu (Angga). Regarding the genre of this movie, which is religious and romantic and screened for an hour 12 minutes, this movie revolves around two people with different levels of practising Islam. Ratih is an intelligent and good-mannered lady from a family with a strong Islamic background. She is an orphan raised by her brother, an Ustad, and often gives morning lectures at the mosque near their home. Angga, on the other hand, is a guy who usually leaves obligatory prayers, especially morning prayers. The story begins when Angga breaks up with his girlfriend and sees an attractive woman in the mosque. He approached the woman and introduced himself but rejected her because of the sudden occasion while it was time to pray. Nevertheless, Angga did not give up and continued to approach the woman. What made Ratih open her heart to accept the friendship with Angga was when Angga helped Ratih come home on a rainy day. Little did he know, the price of their blossoming relationship comes with terms and conditions. There were six conditions. Firstly, no physical contact should occur between them. The second rule is that they cannot overspend their money. Third, neither of them should abandon obligatory prayers. Then, one must be productive with their lecture schedule and aim to graduate quickly. Fifth, do not give room for others to seduce. The last rule is the relationship must be kept a secret. After watching this movie, I can conclude that the word ‘Subuh’ in the title derives from Angga characteristics, who found it challenging to perform the Subuh prayer. Ratih knows that courtship before marriage, or called as “Islamic couple,” is forbidden, but they can still be lovers with few rules in place. In all the arrangements made, Subuh’s prayer was the only thing that was very difficult for him to perform. Although Ratih continuously advises and threatens to end their relationship, Angga still fails, ultimately pushing Ratih to end it. The secret of their romance finally got exposed when Ratih’s brother overheard their conversation outside their house. He kept asking for explanations from Ratih – who was already sobbing – but stopped and was calmed by his wife. Later, Arya (Roger Danuarta), Ratih’s senior, came with good intentions to the house to propose to Ratih. His brother agreed because Arya is a good and faithful man. Despite living far away, Arya was also willing to visit to attend Ratih’s brother’s morning lecture. Ratih had to agree with the negotiations as she had no other choice. After some time, Angga began to realize his wrongdoing. He asked for the help of a friend, Dodi, to wake him up for the Subuh prayer. Anna’s choice of seeking advice from his friend to stay consistent in performing the morning prayer was ideal, and this surprised him. On the first day of waking up Angga, Dodi struggled a lot. There were various ways he used to wake Angga, such as slapping, dragging, and finally, splashing a ladle of water onto Angga’s face, to wake him up. Apparently, I noticed the character development in Angga as his routine of performing the morning prayer at the mosque was gradually getting better and regular. One day, Angga receives an invitation card for Ratih and Arya’s wedding. However, the marriage did not happen because Arya decided to cancel the marriage on their wedding day. He felt in Ratih’s heart and that she still loved him. I was overjoyed because the movie ended with a happy finale. This story is not merely about love between individuals, but the importance of loving our creator, Allah SWT, before anyone else. If the strength of the love of Allah is strong enough, that is more convincing to be able to guide other people to the way of Islam, especially with our partner. The narration teaches us to be disciplined when carrying out obligatory matters, such as prayer because it is the highest form of Divine worship and one of Islamic pillars.

Concept of Tabayyun in accepting news By : Nailusaadah Saudee Be careful in reading news especially from the media Nowadays, the use of technology and the internet has greatly affects our life. Why is this happening? Because the rapid development of the digital world leads to what human need today, and it becomes the backbone of human progress in developement such as making things easier, doing research, saving time and many more. Due to the rapid development of digital technologies, an easy equipment in sending dubious sources and messages by some irresponsible parties leave a bad impression that harms society , especially young teenagers. However, there are few valid news we can trust depends on the validity of the source. As a result, Islam actively encourages the practise of researching and questioning sources from various parties rather than just trust and accepting them. The unlawful behaviour and attitude is detrimental since it can cause slander and misrepresentation to particular parties. Allah S.W.T reminded us in Surah Al-Hujurat verse 6: Islamic feature

MasīH ‘Īsā , the son of Maryam (the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary) a man of status in this world and in the Hereafter, and one of those who are near (to Allah). All the accusations that were thrown at Siti Maryam were proven by the words of her baby after she had gave birth , people were puzzled of the baby born because it could speak and tell them the truth.Maryam was also ordered not to speak and leave her answers to the baby . If we look at the spread of news today, countless social media users act as citizen journalism and they are faster in spreading information than professionals in the field. This predisposition might be perplexing and has an impact on the minds of others. The phenomenon of fake news that grew in society resulting misdirection and cumulating ignorance, hatred, enmity, disputes and divisions in society. Is this what we want for the next generation? The answer is definitely no. Therefore, the main challenge in this digital world is to always be alert of what we heard, read and see in the media because it is unnecessarily true or a mere tactic to deceive us. As a result, critical thinking and excellent Islamic media ethics are strongly advised to acquire to scrutinise every item of material seen, viewed, and perceived, in order to build knowledge and intelligence for the sake of the new generation and to create harmony in society. According to Imam AlSyaukani, Tabayyun is a word that signifies ‘to examine carefully’ and the term Tasabbut is ‘to be careful and not hasty, to look with a deep knowledge of a matter and rumors to come until it is proven clear and bright. According to Berita Harian, a veteran newsman and former Group Editor-in-Chief of The New Straits Times Press (NSTP) Datuk A Kadir Jasin stated in his speech that those who were involved in the mainstream industry are professionals, certified, trained, and licenced in ensuring the right sources for information, as opposed to social media - the modern equivalent of a town square. However, in writers opinion an agency that acts as a source of up-to-date news either from television, radio, newspapers and websites are involved in the activities and under government controlled which is likely to be prejudiced towards a some party and only portray falsehoods to the masses instead of honesty or vice versa. Through author’s analysis in the journal titled ‘Effectiveness of Tabayyun in Online Media for the Millennial Generation’ by Eny Latifah regarding false rumors (also known as hoax), is that hoax typically emphasises on the emotional aspect. As a result, when the general public received the news, they were unaware that they had been duped and concluded that the news was actual and shall be shared with others. Meanwhile, hoax in Cambridge dictionary mean‘s a plan to deceive a large group of people with elements of deception aimed at spreading information that is not based on true data for the purpose of deceiving the public. Looking back at the history of Islam, a story of accusations against Siti Maryam , a mother of the Prophet Isa PBUH, was slandered as an adulteress for giving birth to a child without a husband although Maryam was a holy woman who could not commit adultery. Allah says in Sura’ al-Imran verses 45: (Remember the time) when the angels said: “O Maryam, Allah gives you the good news of a Word from Him whose name is All the news that have been read can be true and false.

Manifesto & Promises By: Nurul Farhana Azlee Malaysia’s political life is ruled by a parliamentary democracy. General Elections will be held every five years to select leaders and representatives who can carry the people’s hopes for the nation’s progress. Unmistakably, the political practise has also been utilized in tertiary education, such as the periodic Students Council Elections held throughout universities and colleges. During this period, each political group will submit their manifesto, stating what it considers to be in the best interests of the people. This will allow the people to evaluate the qualifications of each candidate and select the most qualified leader. Even so, are you cognizant of the “keep every promises you make, and only make promises you can keep” significance of a campaign promises? Delineation of manifesto As inscribed by Idris Aman (2014), a manifesto is a written statement produced during an election statutorily to address and enlighten the public about a political party’s philosophy, policies, and actions. The political party views the manifesto as a method to reach potential voters. In the interim, as specified by Britannica, manifesto a document publicly declaring the position or program of its issuer. While it can address any topic, it most often concerns arts, literature or politics are generally written in the name of a group sharing a common perspective, ideology or purpose rather than in the name of a single individual. Manifestos generally indicate the adoption of a new vision, strategy, programme, or genre. They critique the current condition of affairs while also heralding the arrival of a new movement or perhaps a new era. In this way, manifestos mix a sometimes scathing rebuke of society with an inaugural and inspirational declaration of change Facets of a respectable manifesto A manifesto is an effective marketing tool. With these instruments, political parties may change the perception and thoughts of the people. Manifestos cannot turn a bad view into a favourable one, but they may bolster a positive brand. It would be a grievous mistake for for a political party to Islamic feature

promote a populist manifesto without considering the party’s skills, the existing state of af- fairs, and the will of the people At a bare minimum, there should be the following five fea- tures of a decent manifesto: 1.It should clarify the party’s or candidate’s ideological framework. 2.It should contain a central theme, which is essential since it serves as a reference when new topics occur that may not be covered in the manifesto. 3.Documentation of prior accom- plishments or report cards. It is es- sential for voters to assess a party’s capacity to carry out its promises. 4.Limit the scope to things that are necessary and significant to the people. Political parties are suscep- tible to make extravagant promises. 5.Use terminology that is easily understood. Avoid using ostenta- tious language and business jargon. Manifesto & diur- nal promises: is it related? In politics, manifestos and prom- ises are as similar as two coats of paint - they are analogous enti- ties that move in tandem. Hence, they shared the same terms and conditions of Islamic dogmas. Promises must be honoured in Islam. Corresponding- ly, one of the qualities of a true believer is their commit- ment in upholding their word. Allah says in the Holy book: “O believers! Honour your obligations..” What’s more, Ubada ibn Samit (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: What’s more, Ubada ibn Samit (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Guarantee six things for me, and I will guarantee you Paradise: Be truthful when you speak, fulfill when you promise, uphold your trusts when you are trusted, guard your private parts, lower your gazes, and restrain your hands.” (Ahmad: 22757) Breaking promises and hypocrisy There is a saying that goes: “There is no greater fraud than a promise not kept.” The Gaelic proverb highlighted the vital value of keeping one’s word – and keeping one’s word is equally critical in Islam In fact, violating one’s vow is regarded to be one of the greatest sins that a person may commit. The Holy Qur’an condemns breach of promise in the following verse: “And those who violate Allah’s covenant after it has been affirmed, break whatever ties,Allah has ordered to be maintained, and spread corruption in the land—it is they who will be condemned and will have the worst abode.” (Al-Ra’d 13:25) The Holy Qur’an often castigate habitual liars, or known as ‘kazab’, (great liar) as breaking promises is a sin that sows the seed of hypocrisy in the heart of the person who commits it. Allah says in Surah At-Taubah: “And there are some who had made a vow to Allah: If He gives us from His bounty, we will surely spend in charity and be of the righteous. But when He gave them out of His bounty, they withheld it and turned away indifferently. So He caused hypocrisy to plague their hearts until the Day they will meet Him, for breaking their promise to Allah and for their lies.” (At-Taubah 9:75) Breaking promises in Islam is one of the attributes of the hypocrites. It is because breaking promises causes lying, cheating, and betrayal in any relationship. One of the primary qualities of a hypocrite, as defined by Allah SWT – which differentiates him from a believer – is the fact that he or she does not keep their words. Abu Huraira narrated that the Prophet (Muhammad) said: “The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks he tells a lie; whenever he is entrusted he proves dishonest; whenever he promises he breaks his promise.” (Sahih al-Bukhari: 2749) How to promise? When a Muslim is desire to carry out anything or make a pledge, Allah advises His slaves to return all of that to Allah SWT with Insha’Allah. This is due to the fact that as humans, all we are capable of doing is organising and planning, but God is the one who ultimately decides everything. It becomes even more crucial if the promise made involves significant issues such as the governance of the nation and the well-being of the people. Insha’Allah, a ‘tainted’ phrase Muslims and non-Muslims alike are familiar with the Islamic word Insha’Allah. But do we know when to use it and if we grasp its meaning? Insha’Allah – why do we even say that? Not only that, but do we know when to keep our mouths shut? This phrase, regrettably, has become increasingly misunderstood. Indeed, many Muslims ‘abuse’ it, stripping it of its profound and vital significance, and use it as a polite (and often sarcastic) way to decline commitment to a plan or request or to express doubt that the proposal or plan will come to fruition. Several non-Muslims also came to misunderstand this statement and even misuse it themselves. Therefore, let’s revisit the fundamentals and figure out what Insha’Allah means and how it should be used. In The Oxford Dictionary of Islam, the Arabic phrase Insha’Allah is translated as “If God wills; it is used in hopes for the future to remind the believer that nothing happens unless God wants it to and that only what God wants will happen, shows that you believe God’s will is more important than your own...” Every Muslim uses it daily. Yet, Islam teaches us not to make precise predictions about the future since only God knows what will happen. Remember; every promises will be questioned in front of Allah in Hereafter as He is the All-Knowing.

The dignity of KAFA teachers continues to be suppressed By : Husna Abdul Razak The class of Kafa The concern of Al-Quran and Fardu Ain Class Teachers (KAFA) teachers’ allowances being less than the Malaysian minimum wage is still being the talk of the town topic for KAFA teachers today. Many teachers have complaints but just been ignored by superiors, despite the fact that they continue to work under the same system as the Malaysian Ministry of Education (KPM). Issue continues to arise when online news media such as Free Malaysia Today, Utusan Malaysia and Kosmo made some articles about KAFA teachers’ grievances regarding allowance issues and contract as well as temporary positions. According to the official portal of Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM), KAFA teachers are temporary appointed teachers who are appointed with Islamic Education qualifications. They are contractually appointed by the implementing agency in the state according to the quota amount approved by the Ministry of Finance from time to time. Until 2020, the approved of KAFA teacher quota is 35,000 people nationwide. KAFA teachers’ allowance is paid only as much as RM1,000.00 per month, They received RM130.00 in EPF contributions and RM16.65 in SOCSO contributions. KWSP contribution as much as RM130.00 and SOCSO as much as RM16.65 by using Federal Government allocations managed by JAKIM. Rozaliza Ramlan, 34, who is a KAFA teacher at SRAR AlHamidiah urged the superiors to put themselves in the situation of Kafa teachers, who still receive too little allowance compared to other educators. “Some say we are only Kafa teachers. We also teach but our allowance were never raised. It does not matter if we have a graduate degree, it’s still the same. Whereas we go to courses here and there. We also do all the documentation work,” she said. In-depth reporting

Another KAFA teacher, Saadiah Arbain stated, she and the other Kafa teachers have no choice but to protest among themselves and wait in vain for the outcome of Jakim’s appeal against the Ministry of Finance. “The scope of our work has increased compared to before. Our work follows the same as KPM but the salary is not increased. We feel mistreated and not appreciated at all for our services.” she lamented. However, according to Berita Harian, the monthly allowance for Selangor’s 2,825 KAFA teachers will be increased to RM1,500 in January 2023. The question is, why the allowance have not concurrent in each state in Malaysia? Only the state of Selangor could gains such advantages. The allowance for KAFA teachers who give birth has been frozen. According to Berita Harian, maternity leave with full allowance for Kafa teachers announced by the Jakim Islamic Development Department in January has been postponed. JAKIM Director General, Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff, the decision was made in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s recommendations and views. “On July 6, the ministry stated that the implementation of the facility is not suitable for the time being due to the status of Kafa teachers. Free Malaysia Today reported that the President of the Nation of Women (NOW), Haniza Talha Mohamed stressed Kafa class teachers who are on maternity leave should be paid allowances as usual and should not be discriminated. Utusan Malaysia reported that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob gave his assurance that the government will reconsider the issue of low allowances and the employment of KAFA teachers who are still on contract. “Nothing has been done so far, and the Cabinet has not even met,” he said. According to Kosmo, while factory workers and security guards, including foreigners, have long enjoyed a minimum wage of RM1,500 per month, the income of KAFA teachers remains below the poverty line. Observation from KAFA Supervisor According to Auyah Binti Suhai, KAFA School Coordinator, the allowance of KAFA teachers will be increased in accordance with Malaysia’s minimum wage, but it is possible that the KAFA management at JAKIM is still in the coordination process. The management is constantly attempting to increase the allowance. “The increase in allowance from RM800.00 to RM1000.00 was only increased a few years ago. To address the issue of KAFA teachers’ allowances or salaries in the future, preferably the management of JAKIM or the party responsible for arranging the grade level of positions for KAFA teachers to the grade of Permanent Position,” she said. She also hoped that JAKIM would raise the grade of KAFA teachers to permanent positions and adjust salaries below Malaysia’s minimum wage. The issue is anticipated for the improvement in the allowance problem faced by all KAFA teachers that will increase their motivation to provide the best service in becoming competent and responsible teachers. It is believed that approximately 35,000 KAFA teachers across the country are still paid a wage of as little as RM1,000 per month despite their important role in educating children to become true Muslims and human beings.

The harm in vape By: Nurul Farhanah Azlee It is NOT just a water. In recent years, the use of electronic cigarettes (especially vape) has skyrocketed in popularity around the globe, including Malaysia. It is mind-blowing that the local vape sector is worth close to RM3 billion. According to the 2019 National Health and Morbidity Survey, there are around 1.12 million smokers in Malaysia. As a group, the average age of users are decreasing as well. Just so you are aware; the number of female smokers in Malaysia is over 135,000, whereas the number of male smokers is believed to be over 4.7 million. A large percentage of male smokers (around 49%) are in their 30s. Men of all ages have a prevalence of smoking that is at least 45%. Nearly a quarter of 15- to 19-year-old males are smokers. Not to mention, quite a few of alarming juuling cases has been reported by the digital news sites within these last two years. For instances, the lungs of a 23-year-old fella had to be perforated because more than two-thirds of the right side of his lungs were filled with liquid as a result of inhaling e-cigarette. On the same token, two high school kids were sent to the hospital after experiencing convulsions, which doctors suspect were brought on by the inhalation of poisonous vaping fluids. The fact that youths and teenagers are drawn to and participating in this phenomenon is perplexing and deeply concerning. Tecma 2016 documented that 36% of teens begin smoking e-cig at 14-15 years old.5 Philip Morris once said in his memo, 1981: “Today’s teenager is tomorrow’s potential regular customer.” Targeting youngsters is a time-tested corporate approach, particularly when it comes to marketing tobacco products – Unmistakably, it superficially works! Pricey and ‘spicy’ Young, wild and free; a 23-yearold college undergraduate, Syahmi, acknowledged that he started vaping when he was in his late-teens years. “My pals introduced the practice when I was 17 years old. From that day onwards, I became a In-depth reporting

vaper and a legitimate consumer.” With its four unique devices and several ‘juice’ options on the market, vaping experience can get pricey and ‘spicy’. “I shelled out roughly a hundred notes every two months for the refills. A flavour costs about RM30 and RM40. Apparently, the least costly refill I’ve ever come across was RM10, while the fanciest one set me back RM80. “There are a lot of vape out there: Innokin, SMOK, Vaporesso; these folks (brands) play an equal part on price ranges too.” Deadly delicacies “Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under’t” This quote from Macbeth perfectly mirrored the lie and deceit underneath vaping products. With flavours like ‘teh tarik’ and ‘air bandung’ with eyecatching, aesthetic, brightly coloured packaging; it is no wonder that they successfully attracts an adventurous, younger consumer base. It is worth-noting that some electronic cigarettes are ‘heatnot-burn’ (HNB) variants, while others produce a vapour or aerosol by heating a liquid primarily containing nicotine, propylene glycol, glycerine, and flavouring. Understanding the potentially hazardous sides, a USIM medical expert in clinical pharmacology, Dr. Natasya Abdullah, explains the process of vaping releases a number of chemical compounds. “One of the compounds is formaldehyde – it is well-known as a highly toxic systemic poison that harms our bodies. “What’s more, nicotine is a drug and classified as a class C poison under the Malaysian poisons act 1952 and control of drugs and cosmetic regulations 1984.” She also expounded that vape is a passage to deliver illicit substances, includes nicotine itself, marijuana, ketamine or the infamous kratom (ketum). “In most cases, vape juice does not include any illegal ingredients. The ‘juice’ mostly consists of propylene glycol, glycerine, and flavourings. These biomolecules are completely non-toxic, nonstaining, and non-odorous. “The issue is plentiful manufacturers may, however, tamper with the contents by sneaking in prohibited drugs.” E-cig: a wolf in sheep’s clothing While the device believes to be an alternative to conventional cig, Syahmi revealed some of the traumatic events that led him to take a yearlong hiatus from vaporising. “I occasionally experiences breathlessness, persistent coughs and excessive production of phlegm (green mucus). Every time those happens, I would slow down and stop.” Notwithstanding on how they look; often sleek and sophisticated – like cool USB drive or glowing pens – coupled together with claims that smoking e-cigarettes are healthier than smoking tobacco, these devices actually pose a serious threat to public health. A USIM medical professional in public health, Dr. Mohd Hafiz Jaafar, outlines the situation up on the dangers of vaping. “The common physical effects of vaping are coughing, dry mouth, breathlessness, headache, lightheadedness, increased heart rates, insomnia, and eye discomfort. “It can lead to several lung diseases and significantly impair the function of the body’s blood vessels, increasing the risk for cardiovascular disease. “Long-term use of electronic cigarettes, or vaping products, increase the risk of cancer.” Likewise, Dr. Hafiz added that the chemicals of the liquid will disturb the harmony of one’s mind. “Cannabis in the liquid will drives irritability and anxiousness in a person.” On the other notes, evidence suggests that nonsmokers or known as ‘passive smokers’ who are exposed to vape aerosol absorb about as much nicotine as those who are exposed to secondhand smoke from conventional cigarettes. Due to their smaller size and still-developing respiratory systems, babies and young children are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of inhaling the fumes. One research by Medscape, LLC (2017) found that even brief exposure to vape aerosol’s constituents can have long-term effects on brain and lung development. In fact, these ‘trend’ rising concerns among the healthcare system and its practitioners. Dr. Natasya expressed that the major apprehension in health practice is the involvement of kids and youngsters in smoking. “I’m afraid that vaping could be a lifestyle among the young generation, “The young gen is easily influenced on whatever adults sell either online or in-store – they are always up to something new.” Dr. Hafiz also uttered that the trend could fostering a new generation of a long-term vapers by introducing them to nicotine at an early age. “Look before you leap; products like nicotine patches and gum have been demonstrated to be effective in helping tobacco smokers stop, therefore we should use that rather than vaping.” “I occasionally experiences breathlessness, persistent coughs and excessive production of phlegm (green mucus). Every time those happens, I would slow down and stop.”
