Chpater-1 Introduction • since 2015, a billion of people still under US$ 1.25 a day • Although a decline in poverty rate has been observed in middle income countries in Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, the poor people has remained. • Moreover, recent rises in food and fuel prices may prove to have a significant impact on poor people everywhere in the world.

• government , non profit organization and multilateral institution meed to contunue to work hard to allivate poverty. • those actors are unlikely to solve the problems of poverty by workin alone. • Government can do much to address social problems, but if government alone could be effective then the problem of poverty would have been long ago.

• in fact, government can be inefficient slow prone to corruption, beaurocratic and self perpetuating. • similarly, non profit working alone have proven to incapble of solving social problems as they usually rely on a steady stream of donnations. When these funds fall short , the good work stop.

• Multicultural institution achieved much in attaining the professed soaical goals. Like governments, they are often bureaucratic, conservative, slow-moving and self serving.

• like non profit , they are chronically underfunded, difficult t orely upon, and often inconsistent in their policies. Most important of ll, these entities can not see that poor people can be actors themselves • part of the solutin as well as part of the problems

• Recently profit companies have shown some interest against poverty • more emphasis on CSR • as a younger generation , rise to the top• interested in social change

• Capitalist System shareholder value maximization remains the rule and the reconciling of this social objective – problematic. although advocates of CSR, about (TBL) social, environmental benefits by which companies should be measured ultimately only one botton line-financial profit

• governemnts, non profit orgs and multilateral institutions and companies now aims social goals • new types become “social business” • still under consturction, • emerged mainly thorough on going experiences of the Grameen Group.

• organization to solve social needs • existing business and market failed to meet • combining social mission to satisfy unmet social needs

• seek project under constraints of efficiency • create new structure • strategic and business models • capitalized on very limited resources to create social value • use profit to –target group and reinvest to growth

• Behind the SE, always resourceful entrepreneur • who with personal commitment • mission to change society

Social enterpreneur discover opportunities to address market failure related to – provision of public good _ distrubutional equity

• Transformative Social Entrepreneur  create social change systematically  measure impact  intentially replicating the model to maximize and sustain impact

• Serial Social Entrepreneur  create other SE organization after at least one organizaton has reached transformative social entrepreneurship stage.

• Finally in terms of performance measurement , social impact will remain the main measure differentiating social and business enterprises.
