“Feeding Champions Since 1983”

SUPPLEMENTS & MORE FOR EQUINE, LIVESTOCK & CANINE

About Us The Direct Action Company, Inc. (dac® Vitamins and Minerals) began in 1983 with a single product called Direct Action. dac® was based on a “new” feed technology called chelation, where a mineral is wrapped with an enzyme to naturally enhance the utilization of the mineral. Today, biotechnology in the feed business has gone from an obscure area of research to become an industry in its own right. In 2007 the Company was purchased by Randy Jacobs. The mission was to continue with early practices, but also bring the company to the forefront of technology by aligning the company with experts such as The National Animal Supplement Council, Alltech® and Performance Horse Nutrition. By doing so we have been able to take advantage of the latest research and technology to give our customers products that will enhance the performance of their horses whether they are working in the fields, competing in the show ring or simply back yard pets. Today, dac® Vitamins and Minerals offers more than 65 products that are geared to meet the unique needs of the animal and its owner.

Mission Statement

SPECIAL INGREDIENTS Yea-Sacc®1026 - is a live yeast culture derived from the specific yeast strain Saccharomyces cerevisiae 1026. Yea-Sacc®1026 increases fiber, phosphorus and calcium digestibility in mares, and increases digestible energy, total lipids and amino acid absorption. Yea-Sacc®1026 improves milk availability to foals if administered for 3-4 weeks before and throughout the lactation period. Organic Selenium - Selenium is an essential nutrient that plays a critical role in metabolism, healthy growth, reproductive health, and immunity. It also acts as a powerful antioxidant to prevent fatty acid oxidation which can cause tissue damage. Research has shown that Sel-Plex®, an organic form of selenium, is more readily absorbed and retained than selenium in inorganic forms. Sel-Plex® is the ONLY organic selenium to be reviewed by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Bio-available Trace Minerals – or chelated minerals are those that have been bonded to two or more amino acids. A mineral in this chelated state allows easy passage through the intestinal wall into the blood resulting in increased metabolism of that mineral. dac® Orange Superior utilizes organic minerals to increase availability and enhance absorption rates.

Research has shown that Sel-Plex®, an organic form of selenium, is more readily absorbed and retained than selenium in inorganic forms. Sel-Plex® is the ONLY organic selenium to be reviewed by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Vitamin E – is a potent antioxidant during strenuous exercise. Horses with an inadequate reserve of antioxidants might experience muscle soreness or stiffness during an exercise bout and prolonged recovery following hard work. Bio-available Trace Minerals – or chelated minerals are those that have been bonded to two or more amino acids. A mineral in this chelated state allows easy passage through the intestinal wall into the blood resulting in increased metabolism of that mineral. dac® Racing Formula utilizes organic minerals to increase availability and enhance absorption rates. Iron – plays a critical role in oxygen transport and cellular respiration. Iron makes up the center of hemoglobin, which is the oxygen transport molecule in blood. It is also present in myoglobin, which helps get oxygen into your horse’s muscles. Biotin - Biotin is a water soluble B- Vitamin. A number of research trials have concluded that providing 20mg of biotin per day will result in significant improvements to hoof quality in a period between 6 and 12 months. Chromium – Helps support energy production at a cellular level by supporting glucose uptake by the cell. This enhances exercise tolerance, supports normal recovery time after strenuous activity and helps support stamina and endurance.

SPECIAL INGREDIENTS Organic Selenium - Selenium is an essential nutrient that plays a critical role in metabolism, healthy growth, reproductive health, and immunity. A mineral in this chelated state allows easy passage through the intestinal wall into the blood resulting in increased metabolism of that mineral. dac® Total Performance utilizes organic minerals to increase availability and enhance absorption rates. Probiotics – are live microorganisms (including beneficial strains of bacteria) thought to be beneficial to the horse. These natural additives help maintain the correct balance of microflora in the small intestine and cecum to help bypass nutrients to be completely digested in the gut.

Glucosamine HCL - is required by the body for the synthesis of an important family of macromolecules called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). These GAGs make up many body tissues including tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. The lack of glucosamine in the joints may lead to specific tissue weakness. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) - is a source of bio-available sulfur. Sulfur plays a critical role in the synthesis of connective tissues, hormones and essential amino acids. Scientific research suggests that MSM may also have anti-inflammatory properties. Chondroitin Sulfate – is a glycosaminoglycan (GAG) that provides structural components to the articular cartilage matrix and provides protective and nutritive functions to the joints. Sodium Hyaluronate - is a glycosaminoglycan (GAG) that provides structural components to the synovial fluid and provides protective and nutritive functions to the joints.

SPECIAL INGREDIENTS

dac® Breeders Excel provides a direct source of DHA to mature breeding horses. DHA may support normal semen quality and reproductive function. Omega 3 fatty acids include a-linolenic acid (ALA, plant sources such as flax), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, marine sources such as algae), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, marine sources such as algae). There is NO EPA/DHA in any plants like flax, chia, hemp etc. The body does not utilize ALA directly, it must first be converted to EPA and DHA this conversion rate is poor. In order to be reaping the benefits of Omega 3 fatty acids we should be administering direct sources of DHA. Omega 3 – Semen from stallions contains high levels of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. High concentrations of Omega 3 fatty acids in semen have been shown to increase fertility. Omega 3 fatty acids are considered vital to healthy reproductive function in the horse and may possess the following beneficial properties: increase semen quality and increase vitamin E status. DHA – DHA is a major poly unsaturated fatty acid in semen. Stallions supplemented with DHA have been shown to have significantly increased number of sperm per ejaculate, increased motility of sperm and decreased dead and abnormal sperm compared to non-supplemented stallions. Supplementation with DHA also increases the number of motile sperm after cooled or frozen storage.

SPECIAL INGREDIENTS

Blend of Vegetable Oils - Fats and oils are commonly used to increase the calorie content of the feed or to replace the calories supplied by carbohydrates. Fat supplementation has many benefits including providing calories for weight gain and providing essential fatty acids to improve skin and coat condition. Feeding fat has also been reported to decrease excitability in nervous horses. Vegetable oils are highly digestible, in excess of 90% digestible by horses. On an equal weight basis vegetable oil provides horses with 2.5 times the digestible energy of corn and nearly 3 times the digestible energy of feeding oats. Reducing the amount of grain in the diet may decrease the risk of colic and grain overload laminitis. Essential Fatty Acids – Linoleic (Omega-6) and alpha-linolenic (Omega-3) acid cannot be synthesized by the body and must be supplied in their diet. Both Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids are considered essential to the horse and may possess the following beneficial properties: increase semen quality and increase vitamin E status. Fish Oil – is very high in Omega-3 essential fatty acids which enhance overall health in horses. Essential fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the horses and therefore must be provided in their diet. Flaxseed - is high in Omega-3 essential fatty acids which enhance overall health in horses. Essential fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the horses and therefore must be provided in their diet. Vitamin E – Natural vitamin E is significantly more bio-available than synthetic vitamin E

INGREDIENTS

Soybean Meal, Whey Protein Concentrate, Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Fat, Ground Flax, Zinc Methionine Complex, Biotin, DL Methionine and Natural Flavor.

SPECIAL INGREDIENTS Bio-available Trace Minerals – or chelated minerals are those that have been bonded to two or more amino acids. A mineral in this chelated state allows easy passage through the intestinal wall into the blood resulting in increased metabolism of that mineral. dac® Bloom utilizes organic minerals to increase availability and enhance absorption rates. Zinc - Zinc is associated with the health and integrity of hair, skin, hooves and the immune system. Zinc deficiencies impede the synthesis of DNA, RNA and protein, which are necessary for proper coat condition and repair. Included in dac® Bloom is a zinc Methionine complex provided by Zinpro Performance Minerals. Methionine - Methionine is an essential amino acid which is required to be supplemented in the horse’s diet, as horses are not able to produce it themselves. Methionine stimulates the production of keratin fibers in the horse’s coat. Methionine works synergistically with biotin to increase the effectiveness of both nutrients. Lysine - is a pivotal amino acid in equine diets. Without adequate lysine, overall protein requirements are higher. Feeding additional lysine increases protein quality of the diet and may improve muscle mass. Biotin - Biotin is a water soluble B-Group Vitamin. Research suggests that biotin stimulates the production of keratin, which in turn provides for the production of smooth, soft hair in the coat. Ground Flaxseed - is high in omega-3 essential fatty acids which enhances overall health in horses. Essential fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the horses and therefore must be provided in their diet.

L-Glutamine - Glutamine, an amino acid has been shown to be vital for gastrointestinal mucosal growth and function. Damage to the intestinal mucosa contributes to the breakdown of barrier integrity; glutamine is required in its repair and maintenance. Glutamine offers nutritional support for the gastrointestinal mucosa. Calcite – is a natural high quality source of calcium mined from fossilized red algae, its honeycomb structure increases its buffering properties along with increasing its bioavailability for bone health. It has superior buffering ability compared to the more commonly used calcium carbonate (limestone). Saccharomyces cerevisiae – helps maintain proper gut pH and proper gut flora. Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) – FOS is a non-digestible fiber, FOS supports the beneficial colon bacteria which help to restore and maintain mucosal integrity. Mannanoligosaccharides – MOS binds harmful bacteria that may proliferate more readily if the intestinal lining is compromised. DHA – the most critical omega 3 fatty acid is docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It is sourced from non GMO micro algae. Omega 3 fatty acids help decrease normal inflammatory pathways. Glycine – an amino acid that may inhibit gastric secretion and support healthy gastric mucosa. Whey Protein Concentrate – may support gastric mucosa health.

Calcite - is a natural high quality source of calcium mined from fossilized red algae, its honeycomb structure increases its buffering properties along with increasing its bioavailability for bone health. It has superior buffering ability compared to the more commonly used calcium carbonate (limestone). Threonine - is an essential amino acid in horses. The intestine utilizes threonine more than other essential amino acids, and the gut retains as much as 60% of dietary L-threonine for the synthesis of mucins. These mucins form a mucus layer coating the gut lining and forms a physical barrier to protect against irritants such as acid. Dietary intake of threonine is necessary to maintain the intestinal health.

• Gives weak hoof walls necessary vitamins and minerals • Supports growth of strong, tough hooves • Biotin - 20 mg/oz. • Includes essential amino acids vital for growth • Nutrients work together to support cracked hooves and maintain hoof walls

dac® Foundation Formula promotes the growth and development of healthy hooves, optimizing horn and frog quality, hoof integrity and strength.

SPECIAL INGREDIENTS Biotin - Biotin is a water soluble B- Vitamin. A number of research trials have concluded that providing 20mg of biotin per day will result in significant improvements to hoof quality in a period between 6 and 12 months. Methionine - Methionine is an essential amino acid which must be supplemented in the horse’s diet, as they are not able to produce this themselves. Methionine works synergistically with biotin to increase the effectiveness of both nutrients to improve hoof growth and integrity.

Zinc - Zinc is associated with the health and integrity of hair, skin, hooves and the immune system. Zinc deficiencies retard the synthesis of DNA, RNA and protein, which are necessary for proper hoof condition and repair. A shortage of zinc can also impair cellular division and growth and repair of connective tissues. Included in dac® FOUNDATION FORMULA is a zinc Methionine complex provided by Zinpro Performance Minerals. Vitamin A - plays an important role in bone formation, tissue maintenance and hoof wall growth and strength. Vitamin A is necessary for the growth and development of normal hooves. Horses deficient in Vitamin A produce a poor quality, weak hoof wall.

Glucosamine N-Acetyl - is required by the body for the synthesis of an important family of macromolecules called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). These GAGs make up many body tissues including tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. The lack of glucosamine in the joints may lead to specific tissue weakness. Hyaluronic Acid - is a glycosaminoglycan (GAG) that provides structural components to the synovial fluid and provides protective and nutritive functions to the joints. It functions as a tissue lubricant and is thought to play an important roll in modulation the interactions between adjacent tissues. Vitamin E - is a fat-soluble vitamin that has an important role as a potent antioxidant. It has a concurrent yet independent role with selenium, an essential trace mineral. Together they act to maintain normal muscle function, aid in the prevention of muscular disease and perform as antioxidants to protect body tissues, particularly cell membranes, enzymes and other intracellular substances, from oxidation-induced damage. Horses with an inadequate reserve of antioxidants might experience poor immunity to disease, muscle soreness or stiffness during an exercise bout and prolonged recovery following hard work.

• 100% Natural Vitamin E - 1250 IU/oz • Organic Selenium - 2 mg /oz • Helps decrease oxidative damage • May help protect muscle cells and tissues. • Reduces the negative effects of oxidative stress

dac® FORMULA E & Se provides a balanced vitamin and mineral profile to support normal muscle function, immune function and reproductive function. Adequate amounts of vitamin E and selenium prevent the detrimental interaction of peroxides with lipid membranes of the muscle cell.

INGREDIENTS SPECIAL INGREDIENTS

Vitamin E – is a fat-soluble vitamin that has an important role as a potent anti-oxidant. Horses with an inadequate reserve of antioxidants might experience poor immunity to disease, muscle soreness or stiffness during an exercise bout and prolonged recovery following hard work. dac® Formula E and Se contains 100% natural vitamin E. Organic Selenium - Selenium is an essential trace mineral that plays a critical role in metabolism, healthy growth, reproductive health, and immunity. It also acts as a powerful antioxidant to prevent fatty acid oxidation which can cause tissue damage. Selenium also plays a role in the control of thyroid hormone metabolism. Research has shown that Sel-Plex®, an organic form of selenium, is more readily absorbed and retained than selenium in inorganic forms. Sel-Plex® is the ONLY organic selenium to be reviewed by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Selenium deficiency may be a factor in causing muscle conditions otherwise known as tying-up. In young horses selenium deficiency can manifest as a condition known as white muscle disease.

Distillers dried grains with solubles, d-alpha tocopherol acetate (source of natural vitamin E), selenium yeast, cane molasses, soybean oil and natural and artificial flavors.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS

dac® ELECTRO AID provides a balanced profile of electrolytes for all mature horses. Electrolytes are electrically charged salts or ‘ions’ such as sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium and calcium which are dissolved and carried in the blood and cell fluids. As salts dissolve in the blood and tissues of the body, electrolytes assist in preserving the correct balance of fluids both inside and outside the cells. Electrolytes also function in the generation of nerve impulses, contraction and relaxation of muscles, the beating of the heart and processing of wastes. In fact electrolytes are involved in virtually every function of the body. An electrolyte imbalance may cause such complications as dehydration, muscle fatigue, reduced stamina, overheating, and tying-up. It is therefore essential that electrolyte supplementation occurs as part of your daily nutritional management practices

dac® Electro Aid can be fed to all classes of mature horses. The intake of dac® Electro Aid is based on work intensity and the amount of sweat lost from the body. dac® Electro Aid can be fed with either fortified or unfortified grains. Fortified grains contain added vitamins and minerals. Feed dac® Electro Aid at the following rates: Limited/No Riding 1 oz. per horse per day Light Exercise 2 oz. per horse per day Moderate Exercise 3 oz. per horse per day Intense Exercise 4 oz. per horse per day

INGREDIENTS

Administration based on 1000 lb. body weight. Do not feed to sheep.

Sea salt, potassium chloride, calcium carbonate, calcium citrate, dried whey, magnesium citrate, artificial flavor, zinc proteinate, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, and cobalt proteinate.

SPECIAL INGREDIENTS

Sodium and Chloride: Common salt (NaCl), which is composed of two ions, sodium (Na+) and chloride (Cl-). These are the major electrolytes of the body. Potassium: One of potassium’s major roles is to maintain and ensure correct cellular osmotic pressure which affects the sensitivity of nerves and muscles to impulses. Horses suffering from a lack of potassium are prone to fatigue, muscle weakness, exercise intolerance, tying-up and decreased water intake.

AVAILABLE SIZES: • 10# Bag • 30# Bag

Magnesium: Magnesium plays a critical role as a co-factor in over 300 enzymatic reactions within the body. Magnesium is also required for muscle function. Calcium: Deficiencies of calcium in its ionic form may lead to muscle weakness and conditions such as tying-up. Bio-available Trace Minerals – or chelated minerals are those that have been bonded to two or more amino acids. A mineral in this chelated state allows easy passage through the intestinal wall into the blood resulting in increased metabolism of that mineral. dac® Electro Aid utilizes organic minerals to increase availability and enhance absorption rates.

Vitamin E is an essential and required nutrient, but is not produced by the horse’s body, therefore must be obtained through food. Natural Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and works closely with Selenium and Vitamin C to protect the body from the oxidative stress. Horse would naturally consume Vitamin E from fresh green pasture but due to current management pasture is not often available to horses. If Vitamin E levels are too low a horse may become lethargic, suffer from sore muscles and have decreased immune function.
