the design process CONSULTATION We discuss the scope of your project, goals and budget. We will collect a wide range of information: how each space is used and your vision for the space. All decision-makers need to be at this meeting and you can expect it to last 1-3 hours.

SITE MEASUREMENTS & PHOTOGRAPHS An on-site meeting approximately two weeks after the letter of agreement and retainer is received. Detailed measurements and photographs of all the spaces involved in your project are taken and we sketch the existing floor plans and gather any other pertinent information.

SPACE PLANNING Once we have measurements and photos, we will develop space plans for each room. This allows us to determine what pieces will best fit, how traffic will flow and ensure we meet applicable codes. We will schedule a meeting to review the plans and discuss the pros and cons with the decision maker(s).

DESIGN CONCEPT After a floor plan has been selected, we begin developing a color scheme, sourcing furniture, fixtures and materials for flooring, walls, counters and cabinets. A lighting concept is developed. Drawings, samples, and conceptual images are gathered. Quotes and pricing are researched. Your needs, budget, and vision are all considered in each product and design element we present to you.

CONCEPT PRESENTATION & APPROVAL We present you with carefully edited selections that represent the best choices for your space. We go through the design, materials, drawings, photos, and samples for each element in the design. You may be presented with a few options for some elements. By the end of the meeting, we should have a complete design concept that meets your approval.

SCHEDULING A timetable is developed for purchasing and ordering, work to be done by trades, and final installation. This schedule will be adjusted along the way to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. Please be aware that most projects take several weeks to install and complete.

PROCUREMENT Before items are purchased, you will receive a proposal for approval that details the item(s) along with all known costs. Nothing is purchased without your approval. You will receive two copies of each proposal; one for your records and one that you will sign and return with a 50% deposit. Some items might need to be paid in full when the work order is approved. The balance on each order will be due when the merchandise is ready for delivery.

DESIGN & TRADES IMPLEMENTATION If there is work to be done by trades, you will be in charge of scheduling that with them. We may choose to be on site when the work is being completed to make sure the design is executed properly and with the highest quality workmanship. However, it is outside the scope of our service to hire, direct, or provide payment to any outside contractor needed for completion of the design.

INSTALLATION & ACCESSORIES After all trades work is completed, the furnishings are delivered, merchandise is placed and art is hung. We will purchase the remaining items needed to take your space over the top and prepare it for professional photography. We will provide you with the cost of each item and you will have 24 hours to decide what you want to keep. You will pay for what is staying and we will return anything you do not want.

REFINEMENT PUNCH LIST Once the installation is complete, we will walk through the space and review each room and compile a punch list of anything left outstanding or that needs attention. We will have each item on the list addressed as quickly as possible. Once all the items on the punch list are completed, the project will have to come to a close.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY Once the space is visually ready for photographing, we will schedule a photographer to come in and take photos during a time that is made available by you. After the photographs have been taken, we will return any accessories that you chose not to keep and you will be ready to start operating in your impressive, unique, profitable space!

Although Dennese resides in the Washington Metropolitan area, her projects have taken her from coast to coast and even to the Caribbean. She brings over twenty years of experience and versatility that comes from dealing with a diversity of projects in both commercial and residential settings and brings her sense of elegance and impeccable eye for detail to each project. Dennese strongly feels that the clientdesigner relationship is trust and mutual respect.
