STRONG INDIVIDUALS

Hello Families!  I hope you enjoyed a restful and thankful Thanksgiving. Mary and Diane would like to thank everyone who came, donated, or participated in their feast last week. It is wonderful to come together to enjoy our school community.

We support our students to be strong individuals through the following classroom activities: K-5: Many teachers use small reading groups to

teach decoding, comprehension, and reading strategies. Usually the teacher will gather 2-5  SF Community provides supervision on the yard in the students around and all read the same book. Students will read out loud or in their minds mornings starting at 8:00 and breakfast at 8:30. stopping to ask questions. Teachers will stop at Families must NOT send their children to school points asking questions about the plot, before 8:00 as there is no one to watch them. Also, vocabulary, or a reading strategy. This is please make sure your child does not enter the schoolyard before the gate is unlocked. We have seen something families can do at home. Reading with middle school students on the yard before any adults your child and asking questions about what they arrive. Once students arrive to school, they must stay are reading is a great way to help your child on campus. If your child wants to visit the store for progress in school! breakfast, please make sure they go before walking onto campus.

 The SFC Silent Auction will be Saturday December 11th from 5:00-8:00pm at the Grotto Sports Basement (1590 Bryant Street). Please come! It is a fun evening of good food, discounts on sportswear, and tons of amazing items to bid on. All ages are welcome but there will be no childcare. Tickets are $15 person ($20 per couple).

STRONG MINDS AND HEARTS We celebrate the following students for practicing Virtues and Powerful Ways of Thinking: Loidy, Alison, Willy, Christian G, Ady, Melissa N, Ashley, Marion, Jason, Mylen, Adalberto, Cierra, Eileen, Kevin S, KK, Kimberly, Jessica, Ciana, Amra, Imani, Harlo, Koji, John, Wendy, Angylina, Sasha, Amaya, Antonia, Delany, and Gabriel for HARMONY and COMMUNITY as our new SFC teaching assistants. They are working every Monday during enrichment in K-5 classrooms to help tutor students.

INDIVIDUOS FUERTES

¡Saludos familias!  Espero que disfrutaron un día de acción de gracias relajante y agradecido. Mary y Diane agradecen a todos que asistieron, contribuyeron h participaron en la fiesta la semana pasada. Es maravilloso juntarnos para gozar nuestra comunidad escolar.

 La escuela SF Community provee supervisión en la yarda en la mañana empezando a 8:00am y desayuno a 8:30. Las familias NO deben mandar a sus hijos a la escuela antes de 8:00 porque no hay nadie para supervisarles. Además, por favor asegurar que su hijo no entre la yarda antes de que se abre la puerta en la entrada. Hemos visto a unos estudiantes de la escuela intermedia antes de la llegada de los adultos. Después de llegar a la escuela, los alumnos deben quedarse en el campus. Si su hijo quiere visitar la tienda para el desayuno, por favor asegure que lo hace antes de entrar al campus.

 La Subasta Silenciosa de SFC será sábado, 11 de diciembre de 5:00-8:00pm en el salón Grotto en la tienda de Sports Basement (1590 Bryant St.). ¡Favor de asistir! Es una tardecer de buena comida, descuentos en la ropa deportiva, y muchas cosas por las cuales ofrecer. Todas las edades están bienvenidas pero no habrá cuidado para los niños. Boletos son $15 ($20 por pareja).

Apoyamos a los estudiantes a ser individuos fuertes a través de estas actividades: K-5: Muchos maestros usan grupos pequeños de

lectura para enseñar descifrar, la comprensión, y estrategias para leer. Usualmente se juntan 2-5 alumnos y todos leen el mismo libro. Los alumnos leen en voz alto ó en sus mentes, parando para hacer preguntas. Los maestros se paran para hacer preguntas sobre la trama, vocabulario, ó estrategia para leer. Es algo que las familias pueden hacer en la casa. ¡Leer con su hijo y hacer preguntas sobre lo que están leyendo es buena manera de ayudar a su hijo hacer progreso en la escuela!

MENTES Y CORAZONES FUERTES Celebramos a los estudiantes siguientes para practicar las Virtudes y Maneras Poderosas de Pensar: Loidy, Alison, Willy, Christian G, Ady, Melissa N, Ashley, Marion, Jason, Mylen, Adalberto, Cierra, Eileen, Kevin S, KK, Kimberly, Jessica, Ciana, Amra, Imani, Harlo, Koji, John, Wendy, Angylina, Sasha, Amaya, Antonia, Delany, y Gabriel para ARMONÍA y COMUNIDAD como nuestros nuevos asistentes a los maestros de SFC. Están trabajando cada lunes para ayudar de hacer tutoría para los estudiantes en grados K-5.

大家好！  希望大家都有一個安靜和感恩的感恩節。Mary 和 Diane 想感謝出席、捐贈、或參與上個星期的節日活 動。大家樂享學校群體，令人愉快。

 三藩市社區學校將於早上八時開始和在早餐八時三十分 鐘提供操場監督。請不要在早於八時送孩子到校，因為 無人監督。此外，請確保你的孩子不要在學校門閘打開 之前進入操場。我們曾看到在有任何成年人到校之前， 有初中生在操場裡面。在學生到校之後，他們必須留在 校內。如你的孩子想前往附近商店購買早餐，請記得他 們先往商店才回校。

我們通過以下的課室活動，支持學生的有力發展：

幼稚園至五年級：很多教師使用閱讀小組教導解 碼、理解、和閱讀策略。通常教師召集二至五年級 的學生一起大家閱讀同樣一本書。學生將大聲朗讀 書本否則他們不會思考問問題。教師亦會在某些點 停下來問有關情節、生字、或閱讀策略等問題。這 是家庭可以在家做的事。和你的孩子閱讀和問他們 正在閱讀的書本的問題，是一個幫助學生在學校進 步的好方法！
