SECURITY MEASURE


Introduction Security measures mean a form of security control that determines what the authorities must do to ensure the environment safe from foreigners. Security measure divided into 4 , immigration , passport , visa and entry point.


Immigration The immigration department of Malaysia is federal government that provides services to Malaysian citizens permanent residents and foreign visitors. Function of immigration : Issuing passports and travel documents to citizens and permanent residents Issuing visas , passports and permit to foreign nationals entering Malaysia


Importance of immigration To maintain public safety and order. To manage registration matters. To eradicate drug trafficking. Control the country ' s borders.


Passport An identification documents issued by an official government permission that gives a citizen ' s permission to travel in and out of their home country Average applicant (13-59) - RM 200 Senior citizen (60 above) - RM100 Passport valid for 5 years


Stand for verified international stay approval or virtual important stamp authorization Visa is a document issued by a government to a foreign visitor , providing them with legal entry into a foreign country Visa


Type of Visa Single Entry Visa Allowing foreigners to enter Malaysia only once within the validity period of the visa Multiple Entry Visa This is issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia mainly for business of government matters It is normally valid for a period within three (3) month to twelve (12) month from the date of issue.


Transit Visa This is issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia to other countries Foreign nationals on transit without leaving the airport premises and who continue their journey to the next destination with the same flight do not require a transit visa.


Entry point Is the one of security measure to minimize the entry of foreigners who do not have a passport to smuggle into the country for example : Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) , Langkawi International Airport(LGK) , Melaka International Airport(MIA).

MALAY COMMUNITY


INTRODUCTION The constitutional definition of a Malay is a person who professes the Muslim religion, habitually speaks the Malay language and conforms to Malay custom. Malays in Malaysia are estimated to be 50.8% por 15,479,600 of the total population in Malaysia.They are generally defined as the "Malay Nation ".


BACKGROUND Malay culture has been strongly influenced by the cultures of other areas, including Thailand, Java, and Sumatra. The influence of Hindu India was historically very great. The Malays were largely Hinduized before they were converted to Islam in the 15th century.


Religion : Islam, Malaysia ' s official religion, is followed by about three-fifths of the population. Islam is the one of the most important factors distinguishing a Malay from a non-Malay, and by law,all Malays are Muslim At the end of the 15th century, Islam had strengthened its position in Malays, Sumatra, the northern part of Java Island, Brunei and North Borneo. Islam also penetrated Maluku and Sulu Language Used as the official national language in Malaysia following the standards set by the language and Library Council Malay is the one of the most widely used languages on earth with more than 300 million speakers The earliest record of the Ancient Malay language is an inscribed stone dated 682 AD found in South Sumatra.

TRADITIONAL COSTUME Leadership Empathy Communication The traditional attire of Malay men is called Baju Melayu , which is a loose tunic paired with trousers and a sarong which is known as Samping. Men also wear the traditional hat, called songkok or kopiah with it. The current traditional dress for women is Baju Kurung, which comprises of a kneelength, full-sleeved blouse and a long skirt called kain.

FESTIVAL Hari Raya The most significant celebration for Muslims, Eid Ul-Fitri, marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. The words ‘Hari Raya ’ means day of celebration in Malay language. Known locally as Hari Raya Puasa or Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, the celebration is determined by sighting of the new moon on the day before the next month on the Muslim calendar, Syawal.


Hari Raya Haji (Eid Ul-Adha) Hari Raya Haji literally means the ‘festival of pilgrimage ’. This festival is celebrated by Muslims to honour pilgrims who have completed their Haj (pilgrimage) to Mecca. Hari Raya Haji falls on the 10th day of the month of Dzulhijjah, the last month of the Muslim Calendar. Also known as Hari Raya Qurban, which means the festival of sacrifice. Traditionally, a cow or goat is sacrificed as a food offering to the poor.

Malay weddings are a grand affair, the most important part of Malay wedding is the Bersanding where the couple is seated next to each other on a sofa called the Pelamin. This is a mark of approval and blessing. Loved ones and guests sprinkle the couple with scented water and yellow rice. CHINESE COMMUNITY


INTRODUCTION Malaysian Chinese are the second largest ethnic group in Malaysia. Mostly descendants of Chinese immigrants during the 19th century, the Chinese are known for their diligence and keen business sense. The three sub-groups who speak a different dialect of the Chinese language are the Hokkien who live predominantly on the northern island of Penang. The Cantonese who live predominantly in the capital city Kuala Lumpur and the Mandarin-speaking group who live predominantly in the southern state of Johor. In Sarawak this 25 percent is made up of a mix of dialect groups including Foochow, Hakka, Hokkien, Teochew, Hainanese and Puxian Min while in Sabah the population of Chinese drops to around 10 percent who predominantly speak the Hakka language


HISTORY Early History The first recorded movement of people from China into what is now Malaysia came as a result of the Monggol expeditionary forces under Kublai Khan during the 13th century Modern History Victory of communist forces in the republic of China , Communist insurgency amongst the Chinese population of Malaysia became increasingly common


RELIGION LANGUAGE National surveys conducted in the early 21st century estimated that some 80% of the population of China, which is more than a billion people, practice some kind of Chinese folk religion, 18% are Buddhists, 5.1% are Christians, 1.8% are Muslims and 0.7% are to other religious organizations. The official dialect of China is Mandarin also call "Putonghua '. More than 70% of the Chinese population speaks Mandarin, but there are also several other major dialects in use in China : Yue(Cantonese), Xiang(Hunanese),Min dialect, Gan dialect, Wu dialect and Kejia or Hakka dialect

TRADITIONAL COSTUME Cheongsam The cheongsam is a sheath dress with a high cylindrical collar, side slits and an asymmetrical opening in the front that stretches from the middle of the collar to the armpit and down the side. The opening is traditionally secured with knotted buttons and loops known as hua niu (flower button).


Known as Chinese men traditional costume It style structure has four major characteristics. First is collar, it is shirt front centre opening and vertical sollar. Second is sleeves, that no seams overall sleeves and clothes to the main plane cutting Third is at right angles to buckle,namely plate buttons. From the fabric,it is mainly use silk or woven cotton fabrics. Tang Suit

CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS Hongbao consists or brand new bills put in red envelop given by the elders of the family during Chinese New Year No matter what region or background their families are from, they normally receive hongbao(lucky money) The hongbao represents blessings for the year to come


Chinese people are used to drinking hot water and many prefer the water to be burning hot They believe hot water can cure ailments and prevent disease. Drinking hot water

INDIAN COMMUNITY


INTRODUCTION The Indian community in Malaysia is one of the country ’ s three main ethnic groups, the other two being Malays and the Chinese. Today the Indian community accounts for about 7% of Malaysia ’ s population and is considered the third largest single ethnic group in Malaysia.


HISTORY Historical records show that the influence of Indian on Malaya can be traced as early as the first century. Indians’ role was prominent in the Malay archipelago as merchants who traded valuables such as as spices, textiles, fabrics and gold Migration of Indians to Malaysia started initially in 1786 when British colony offices opened in Penang. The influx of Indians happened in the mid 19th century due to the intervention of the British in India and Malaya.


FESTIVAL Empathy Thaipusam is the biggest festival for Hindus after Deepavali and usually falls in January or February. It is observed as a day of thanksgiving and paying penance for Lord Murugan. In many states in Malaysia Thaipusam is a public holiday. Deepavali Thaipusam is a festival of lights celebrated by those of Hindu faith. It is one of the most important festivals of the year for the Hindus who celebrate by performing traditional customs at homes. Just like most major celebrations by other communities, Deepavali is a time for family reunions

CUSTOM AND TRADITIONAL WEDDING Sangeet performance Before the actual wedding, there is a gathering called sangeet or garba (depending on the regional background) where the family gathers to sing, dance and rejoice in the joy of the upcoming union. Fittingly, sangeet translates directly to " sung together." Each member of the family sings traditional folk songs to welcome the others, and family members may also give full performances in celebrations and cheeky competitions.
