Dean Message I am privileged to be the Dean of such an amazingly excelling institute; Riphah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, with praiseworthy dedicated faculty members and intellectual students. It is an honor to be associated with this Institute, which gives adequate importance to curricular and co-curricular activities. I appreciate the commendable efforts of all the organizers, teachers, students, staff, and coordinators, who have organized many significant events throughout the year. And I'm also looking forward to such productive events being organized in the future. In Shaa Allah!

Director RIPS Message rue education is the one that empowers students to build trust and confidence in one's capabilities. Riphah International University is a state-of-the-art institute where academia is coupled with moral values and skill development that positively transform students and enables them to achieve professional excellence. RIPS Lahore originates from deep cogitation and great aplomb of intellectual minds, which can prioritize the situation, absorbing the negativity of our students and giving positive and innocuous results. The Pharmakon depicts the RIPS faculty guidance and nourishment that walks tenderly beside every student throughout the year. Farewell Party of Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmad And Ms. Humera Shaheen Bidding farewell to your employees and fellow colleagues can be really hard. It is one of those emotional moments in an organization where you have to bid adieu nd

to your favorite person. On 22 June 2022, a farewell party was organized in honor of Prof. Dr. Bashir Ahmad, who retired as Director RIPS after serving 7 years, and Ms. Humera Shaheen, who was moving to the UK for family residency and served 2 years in RIPS. The RIPS faculty arranged a hi-tea for their respectable colleagues. The event was heart-touching as saying goodbye to faculty members was very difficult, but everyone wished them their best future and health. In the end, Director RIPS (Dr. Farhan Sohail) appreciated their hard work for the betterment of RIPS department and presented souvenirs to them as a token of appreciation on behalf of Faculty and university.

Educational Visits: GCU Botanical Garden Lahore Educational Field Trip plays a vital role in the universities curriculum, which serves a wide range of benefits in several ways including learning and teaching. One of them is that they help students to learn through authentic experience and can be an interesting way to explore new things for both the learners and teachers. RIPS organized four trips to Government College University, Botanical Garden Lahore for the students of semesters 3, 5 and 6, along with their mentors separately for males and females. This visit helped the students acquire knowledge of about 130 species and more than 700 medicinal plants kept in this garden. In addition, the students had a chance to interact with top botanists who guided and discussed in detail all the queries raised by the students. Furthermore, this visit allowed future pharmacists to view various medicinal plants used in herbal medications to cure multiple ailments and an opportunity to learn about the procedure and requirements to establish a small botanical garden in Raiwind Campus.

Educational Visits: Wilshire Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. The objective of an industrial visit is to provide students with an insight into the corporate world. It provides students with a practical real-world perspective on different functions in organizations such as Marketing, HR, Finance, Operations, Customer Service, Logistics, etc. Riphah Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (RIPS) Lahore organized a pharmaceutical industrial visits to Wilshire Laboratories Pvt Ltd, Almed Pvt Ltd and Horizon Pharma Lahore for the students of 7, 8, and 9 semesters accompanied by faculty members separately for male and female students.

The students visited the warehouse, manufacturing areas, quality control labs, packaging and HR departments during the visit. This visit helped the students to understand and observe the workflow of various departments of the pharmaceutical industry, including the good manufacturing practices (GMP), good laboratory practices (GLP), and the layout plan of the pharmaceutical industry. In addition, the students were briefed about the responsibilities of an industrial pharmacist being deployed in various sections of the pharmaceutical industry and their careers as industrial pharmacists.

you do in order to be happy. On 5 July 2022, a seminar was arranged by the RIPS faculty for the 10th-semester students on career counseling. Guest Speaker Dr. Shoaib Hakeem had 40 years of national and international working experience in the pharmaceutical industry and academia. He guided the students on how to work in practical life and choose the best possible way of earning in the pharmacy field. In addition, he shared his experiences with the students and encouraged them about the importance th

of the pharmacy profession and its impact on society. As 10 -semester students are going towards the practical life, this session enlightens the in new ways for their practical life.

SEMINAR ON PCOS

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a widespread health problem in females from early adulthood to the age group. For the awareness of PCOS, RIPS Lhr organized a seminar on 26th July 2022, and many female students participated. Prof. Dr. Amna Zia Eusaph, head of the department at Lady Aitchison hospital, conducted this seminar as a leading gynecologist and obstetrician with 20 years of experience. She guided the students about their diet and healthy lifestyle. An interactive Q&A session was done at the end of her presentation, and she answered all the students' questions. Bristol Mayer biotech displayed their broachers and free samples in this event as this company mainly deals with gynecological products. The seminar was very informative and knowledgeable for female students. In the end, Director RIPS appreciated her and presented a souvenir to her and Country Director BMS.

14th August Celebration by RIPS Faculty Thousands laid down their lives so that our country can celebrate this day. This auspicious occasion is a moment to reaffirm our pledge to continue pursuing the vision of Father of the Nation. We must never forget the sacrifices made to achieve this homeland. Pharmacist Day Celebration World Pharmacist Day is celebrated on the 25th of September every year since it was brought to life in 2009, by the FIP council in Istanbul. The goal of World Pharmacists Day is to encourage activities that highlight and advocate for the pharmacist's role in improving health in all corners of the globe. Pharmacists are the reason individuals get the most out of their medicines; they use their experience, knowledge, and competence to improve the (medical) world for everyone. They also provide access to medicines; provide advice on how to use them appropriately, and much more. On 25th September 2022 RIPS faculty celebrated World Pharmacist Day. The commemoration of World Pharmacists Day strives to promote and recognize the importance of pharmacists in health care. A cakecutting ceremony was arranged along with the director RIPS's worthful speech for the student's motivation.

Teachers Day Celebration Teacher's Day is important because it helps students and parents realize the crucial role of teachers in society. Through this understanding, respect is cultivated, and thus effective learning is achieved. The day is also a time to remind people of the importance of education. RIPS Faculty arranged a grand celebration of teacher's day with all the faculties of the th Raiwand campus on 5 October 2022. This event was arranged to appreciate the efforts of teachers in academia. ‘Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber, and future a of student.'

Seminar on Breast Cancer and Awareness Walk According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women. The average risk of a woman in the U.S. developing breast cancer sometime in her life is about 12%, or a 1 in 8 chance. A heightened awareness of the disease has unquestionably led to a greater number of women being screened for breast cancer. “Patients are experiencing better outcomes as a result of early diagnosis, state-of-the-art treatment options and th

less extensive surgery.” For providing awareness of breast cancer, RIPS On 19 October 2022, organized an awareness walk and seminar on breast cancer. A large number of female students participated in this session. Dr. Irum Yousaf (Assistant Professor at Central Park Medical College) thoroughly explained the disease and the importance of understanding early diagnosis in breast cancer treatment. She encouraged students about self-care and highlighted its importance. She also emphasized self-breast examination and urged students to report in case of any abnormality as early detection helps in complete eradication. In the end, Ms. Badraqa tul Ayesha and Ms. Qurat tul Ain presented the souvenir to the honorable guest. This event was held in collaboration of Dr. Essa Laboratories Lahore.

Welcome Party Greeting each student at the door with a positive message brings benefits for both students and teachers, according to a study. RIPS set a tradition, that immediate seniors of the new juniors welcomed them th wholeheartedly. On 9 November 2022, a grand welcome party was rd arranged by the 3 -semester students to their new juniors. They give them a warm welcome on the RIPS boat and welcome them to become part of the RIPS community. This spectacular event comprised laughter, skits, and poetry, followed by the director's speech to welcome and motivate the students, and the event ended with a delicious lunch.

First Aid Training Knowledge of first aid is invaluable and essential for the entire community. First aid is the immediate and initial help given to anyone who suffers injury or sudden illness to intervene the condition from getting worse while awaiting th th professional help. First aid in the worst state can be the 'last straw' in saving a life. On 7 and 8 Nov 2022, a two days first aid training session was conducted for the students in alliance with the Red Crescent. The basic purpose of this training was to train the students and provide basic knowledge in case of fractures, bleeding, wounds, snake and dog bite. In addition, the trainer also gave training and first aid for various emergencies. First-aid-trained people in any community make that community a safer and healthier place to live. RIPS arranged this event to Equip their students with basic first aid skills by giving them first aid and CPR training. It was a very informative session for the students that will help them in the future.

Iqbal Day Celebration The main purpose of celebrating this day, across all the provinces of Pakistan, is to signify Iqbal's importance and acknowledge his contribution that inspired the idea of the Pakistan movement among the Muslims of the subcontinent. The Iqbal day event was organized by the literary society RIPS in memory of 9th November 1877 (Birth of National Poet of Pakistan Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal). The speech and Poster competition were held on that day. The winners were awarded appreciation certificates. The posters were displayed on the room walls for evaluation by the Judges. The First position certificate of speech competition was given to Mr. Farman and 1st position certificate of Poster was given to Hadia Salman by Honorable chief guest Director Rips Dr. Farhan Sohail. The event ended with the cake-cutting ceremony followed by the students and Faculty and the national anthem.

SPORTS GALA Sports day for students has been proven to enhance their mental and physical development, as well as social skills, and even improvements in academic performance. Due to sports, Students learn how to cope in a competitive environment as well as learning all about winning and losing; these are important life skills to assimilate in preparation for the working environment. For this purpose, from 14th to 18th Nov 2022, Student Services Department (SSD) and Riphah Sports Club organized an annual Sports Gala for all the departments. For boys, it was from 14th to 16th and for girls, from 17th to 18th November. There were 12 different sports competitions, which included cricket, football, races (100m, 200m, and 300m), three leg race, badminton, tug of war, arm wrestling, long jump, carom, chess, ludo, disc and shot put throw. The students from our RIPS department participated in almost all competitions. On the other hand, many RIPS students arranged food and game stalls at the Sports Gala. Sports week is an excellent opportunity for all the students to show their sports skills and win the department's achievement awards. RIPS students won 4 Gold Medals and 6 Silver Medals in different games.

MOU SIGNING CEREMONY The memorandum of understanding is an agreement between two parties with defined terms and conditions. MOUs benefit both parties as both get the benefits and use the facilities from each other. RIPS Lahore signed the MOU's with the leading organizations covering the community pharmacy (Servaid pharmacy, Dr. Essa and Chughtai laboratories), hospital pharmacy (Gurki Hospital) and industrial pharmacy (Allmed Pharmaceutical Private Limited) areas. Servaid pharmacy provides the opportunity to RIPS students for internships and jobs. Dr. Essa and Chughtai laboratories provided a 40% discount to the RIPS for every diagnostic test. Allmed pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. offers paid internships for RIPS graduates, helps postgraduate students, and provides opportunities for RIPS graduates to get jobs. In collaboration with Dr. Essa laboratories, RIPS started a series of seminars in which experienced and highly qualified employees from both sides delivered lectures to undergraduate students.

Awareness Seminar on Misuse of Antibiotics by RIPS Antibiotic resistance is rising to dangerously high levels in all parts of the world. New resistance mechanisms are emerging and spreading globally, threatening our ability to treat common infectious diseases. To tackle these problems, WHO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) are working together to promote best practices to reduce antibiotic resistance. Misuse of antibiotics causes antibiotic resistance. For this purpose, Riphah Institute of Pharmaceutical sciences organized a walk and one-day awareness seminar on "Misuse of antibiotics" at the Raiwind campus, Lahore. The purpose of this seminar was to create awareness among the students and the community to avoid the unnecessary and irrational use of antibiotics. Before the workshop, a walk was conducted within the Raiwand campus. The messages displayed on the banners and placards elaborated on the importance of rational antibiotic use to control the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). After the walk, speakers from different organizations, Dr. Afreenish Amir from the National Institute of Health, Dr. Zikria Saleem from the University of Lahore-, and Mr. Muhammad Rehan khan from SKMCH & RC elaborated on the role of Antimicrobial Stewardship programs for rational antimicrobial practice, AMR patterns in Pakistan and the role of a clinical pharmacist towards rationalizing the antimicrobial practice.

OBE Training for Faculty Riphah International University has launched a Certificate in Outcome-Based Education (COBE) to produce outstanding teachers who can demonstrate the attributes of an effective teacher by adopting Outcome-Based Education. RIPS Faculty was trained for Outcome Based Education methodology for Pharm. D curriculum by Dr. Touseef (HOD engineering department). Afterward, a workshop was arranged for RIPS faculty in which experts from different organizations Dr. Shoaib Hakeem from Industry, Dr. Tahir Aziz Mughal from SKMCH&RC, and Dr. Shoaib from LUMS University, participated. All the distinguished guest gave their valuable comments on the incorporation of OBE in the curriculum.

PSD Training for Pharmacist RIPS department started the series of CPD lectures for the community pharmacists in collaboration with Servaid Pakistan. This is an excellent initiative in which RIPS faculty to facilitate and groom professionals and also create the opportunity for students to get themselves trained on various practical aspects of the community pharmacy. Dr. Farhan Sohail, Dr. Furqan Akhtar and Ms. Asifa Bashir delivered lectures to the pharmacist community on different topics in the last six months. This joint effort helped uplift the pharmacy profession, especially in the community pharmacy setup.

Seminar on Drug abuse for Pharm. D students Addiction is a chronic, relapsing brain disease characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. Most abused drugs produce intense feelings of pleasure. In collaboration with Chughtai laboratories, the RIPS department arranged a seminar on Drug Abuse in which Dr. Humera Shafi, Chief toxicologist in Chughtai laboratories and formal scientist in Punjab Forensic Sciences, was a speaker. She enlightens all the aspects of drug abuse parameters and their intensive role in the quality of health of the drug seekers. She discussed her experiences with the drug abusers' health with the students. It was a very informative session for students. The seminar ended with a note of thanks from the Director RIPS.

Training Sessions for RIPS Faculty Faculty are the lifeblood of any institution. They are directly responsible for delivering the top-of-the-line knowledge and training the institution promises its students. It's their passion, hard work, and authentic interactions that help uphold the reputation of the institution was built on. RIPS Faculty is continuously improving by arranging training, workshops, seminars, and conferences. A series of lectures are conducted every quarter for the development of Faculty in polishing the technical and academic aspects and enhancing behavioral qualities. Workshops on Time Management and, motivation & learning were conducted by Dr. Muhammad Farhan Sohail (Director RIPS), while Life Long Learning was conducted by Dr. Bajwa (Harvard University).

Youth General Assembly Event Youth General Assembly is an autonomous assembly formed to provide an ethical platform that instigates a genuine sense of policy & strategy making, unbiased administration, and non-customary legislative and public speaking on social subjects by endowing enthusiasm in youth for being the fortune ambassadors and democrats. Moreover, it provides a platform for the Youth to present their ideas and policies to eradicate the socio-economic problems in the country. RIPS in collaboration with YGA arranged a session in which different speakers Fahad Shahbaz (President - Youth General Assembly) Zulfikar Bader (Focal Person of Foreign Minister) Tabinda Usman (Director Enablers College of Technology) encouraged the students and motivate them about their future, empower the next generation and their role for the betterment of Pakistan.

Welcome to the RIPS Faculty RIPS Lahore welcomed Dr. Ovais Ullah Sherazi (Ph.D. in Pharmacy Practice from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Dr. Ali Akhtar (Ph.D. Clinical Pharmacy (USM, Malaysia) in Riphah Institute of Pharmaceutical sciences Lahore campus, as the new faculty member in the new academic year of RIPS.

Online Training session for students for Registration as Pharmacist in Norway & Saudi Arabia Considering the students' interest and the potential scope of lucrative pharmacy practice in Norway and Saudi Arabia, the RIPS organized a training session to guide the students about obtaining Norwegian authorization to practice as a pharmacist in Norway. Mr. Muhammad Shakeel, a registered pharmacist in KSA and Norway, interacted with the students online. Furthermore, in this session, students were also guided on registering in Saudia Arabia as a pharmacist and Norway.

Establishment of RIPS Lahore Student Societies RIPS societies provide students with a platform to discover and develop their potential to have a positive impact on society. These societies are committed to developing future leaders and managers for the community. The Sports Society of RIPS provides opportunities for the community to participate in a wide range of sports and recreational activities. RIPS Media Society promotes the University's image locally and nationally through various media channels. Students are the backbone of society, and they contribute stories, photos, videos, and articles about RIPS, including events, celebrations, and various activities. A literary society is a group of people interested in literature. Often this refers to a society that wants to promote one genre of literature.
