A MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD
FRESH STARTS
2023 is a new and exciting year. There are lots of great activities planned at many of our amenities and clubs. Our restaurants are developing some new and interesting menu offerings, DesertView Performing Arts Theater is in full season with some great entertainment, and our golf courses are in the best shape I’ve seen them in for some time. Lots to do, and wonderful weather to do it in! SB2 Life is a great place to be. Your 2023 Board of Directors is in place and very involved. Our officers this year are Dan Linegar – President, Don Grimm - VP, Campbell Chaney - Treasurer, and Chuck Kill Secretary. We welcome two new members, Matt Kambic and Shawne Cryderman to the Board. The Board is planning to hold open meetings each month in 2023. Mark your calendars for the last Wednesday of the month at 10 AM, and join us for updates and discussions regarding important topics of your HOA. Some major initiatives happening in 2023 include continued integration of our new system software. It’s been more challenging than anticipated, but our staff is doing yeoman’s work implementing this more complete software system. The MountainView Golf course renovation is underway with preliminary work regarding irrigation and cart path improvements starting in February. We have a major project
slated this summer to resurface the rest of MountainView Blvd. Also, work is underway to clean up our common area. The Board and Staff have been working on this project for some time, and 2023 should see the beginnings of that work. I can tell you firsthand, the work of our volunteer committees is vital to our community and support to the Board and staff. New Board member Liaisons have been assigned to each committee and should be posted on each Committees web section of our main SaddleBrooke Two website. Committees are a great way get involved and lend support to the success of your HOA. I know ALC, Golf, and others are all looking for new volunteers. Lastly, I want to say thanks to all our volunteers that make HOA2 a great place to live. You really are a blessing for taking your hard-earned retirement time and giving back to your community. We can always use more volunteers because, as my mother used to say, many hands make light work. Again, thanks for all you do! I’ll wrap up by again asking you to attend some or all our open meetings. Doing the work of a Board isn’t always exciting and drama filled, but it does allow homeowners a chance to be actively involved in your community. For me, many times, the most enjoyable part is hearing homeowner questions and concerns. This feedback is fuel for possible change. Enjoy this wonderful community and I’ll see you at our next Board meeting. February 22nd at 10:00am in DVPAC. -Dan Linegar, Board President SaddleBrooke TWO | 3

FROM THE RULES & REGULATIONS COMMITTEE
WALKIN ON WINTER DAYS
Walking is a great way to enjoy the wonderful views and fresh air of Saddlebrooke. It’s healthy, too.
Section 8.02 has the relevant rules, but here is a summary which may be helpful.
The shorter days of winter affect how we prepare and where to go. We’ll look at the rules regarding walking on our golf courses at MountainView and The Preserve, but first, some general tips for your safety after dark.
When tee times start at 8am as they do now in winter, walking is not allowed on our golf courses after 8am and before 5pm. Between those times are golfing hours and only golfers and golf service staff are allowed on the courses. Note that these times are adjusted in spring when tee times start earlier. If you are unsure, there are signs posted at the access points to the courses, or you can call the golf shops or check with the Patrol. In the hours when walkers may use the courses, they are required to stay on the cart paths and away from the ponds. Pets are not allowed at any time.
Obviously it’s safer to stay within areas with plenty of light, but why not also carry a flashlight or cell phone, making sure that it has plenty of charge. The cell phone will also provide the security of knowing that help is just a call away. Saddlebrooke Two Patrol also advises us to carry a walking stick since during the hours of darkness one could encounter animals. One more thing: try to be aware of each of the street names as you walk them just in case you have an emergency. Then you’ll be able to pinpoint your location to Emergency Services. And now for the rules covering walking on our golf courses. The Rules and Regulations Handbook
Our golf courses and their views are wonderful amenities for our residents. The few rules governing walking on them ensure that they remain beautiful and keep all of us safe.

DARBIE AT A GLANCE We welcomed 2023 with Katherine Byrnes and her band for Monte Carlo Night at MountainView Ballroom. She did an outstanding job on stage and somehow managed to scratch everyone’s itch. The highlight of her sets, for me, was her singing in French. I was able to imagine I was there. The food was spot on, and the service was great. Thanks to the Lifestyle event staff for a wonderful evening. We had a real sleeper on stage in January, when “Strange Days” came to DVPAC to entertain us. Their tribute was to “The Doors” and I have to tell you it was really good. Some people probably wondered who the Doors were, and some didn’t know their songs, but the show they put on was one of the best we’ve had. Those of us who attended the concert were quite surprised. They were that good. Shania Twain is one of the best entertainers today and performs mostly in Vegas. While it would be difficult at best to get her here or anywhere in Tucson, we do have the next best thing coming, i.e., Donna Huber (like Shania, another Canadian product). On (Wednesday) February 1, Donna Huber, AKA Shania Twin, will be on our stage at DVPAC and you won’t want to miss it. If you like Shania Twain you will like Shania Twin. Go to https://www.shaniatwin.com/videos If you are a Jimmy Buffett fan, you won’t want to miss the #1 Jimmy Buffett Tribute, who will be on our stage February 4th (Saturday). Buffett’s fans are affectionately known as “Parrot Heads”. I want to see some of you at this concert. And if you’re in costume, I’m sure no one will laugh. The world’s most famous beach bum, Jimmy Buffett, has become a billion-dollar business by selling more albums and filled more concert venues than most musical superstars. He has written best-selling books and has a string of successful Margaritaville stores/cafes. Don’t know what it is, i.e., lure of the tropics or some other “parrotdise”, wherever Jimmy’s music can take you, so can this show. 14 | For The Record
Ultimate Chicago celebrates the musical legacy of one of the greatest, longest running, not to mention best-selling bands of all time. That’s right, I’m talking about Chicago, the very band who was in Billboard’s Pop Top 40 over six consecutive decades and the highest charting American band in Billboard’s Hot 100 all-time Top Artists, and the #4 band on Billboard’s AllTime Top Bands and Duos List. That’s a lot of Billboards. And lucky for us, Ultimate Chicago is here on (Wednesday), February 15th. Don’t miss this show if you’re a Chicago fan. SASO and conductor Linus Lerner return for the beginning of their 2023 season (Saturday), February 18th. The concert starts off with Brahms: Academic Festival Overture, Vanbeselaere: Convergences, with guest (Tuba) soloist Thomas Leleu, and Bernstein: Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Join me for a beautiful evening at the symphony.
I’ve been waiting for The Karen Carpenter tribute to come to DVPAC, and it will be here on February 19th (Sunday). The Tribute band stars Chloe Foston, and this is a stunning tribute to the Carpenters, who were the biggest selling group of the 1970’s. Chloe’s voice and vocal likeness to the late Karen is uncanny, making this tribute the perfect opportunity to relive your own memories. Karen and Richards melodic pop produced record-breaking run of hits on top 40 and adult contemporary charts. We all will remember the voice we listened to as youngsters and were saddened at her untimely death. Go to https://www.facebook.com/tadmgmt/ videos/the-karen-carpenter-story-starringchloe and listen to Chloe’s rendition of Karen Carpenter. I’m really excited about The Heart of Rock & Roll tribute band to 80’s icons Huey Lewis & The News. This is the 10th year for this top tiered tribute band made up of supremely talented professionals ready to bring an infectious blend of rock, pop, blues, and soul to fans around the country and around the world. If you remember hits like, “Hip to be Square”, “Stuck With You”, ”Workin for a livin”, ”I want a New Drug”, ”The Power of Love”, and of course, “The Heart of Rock & Roll”, you won’t want to miss this show on (Saturday), February 25th. You will feel transported
