Welcome back to school! I am so pleased to be here as your principal and look forward to a great year of academic growth for your children. Sable is a very special place. In the last 2 years as principal, I have learned that we are a community of learners where there is respect among the highly qualified professional staff and enormous support from the parent community. We look to this school year with optimism and excitement. As we work to continually improve the instructional program for all students, so too we strive to make our school a safer and more inspiring place in which to learn. On behalf of the Sable Elementary School staff, I welcome you to the 2008-09 school year. Please make it a goal of yours to participate with us and join hands in supporting our children as they learn and grow.

If your son or daughter is having a birthday and you wish to bring in birthday treats for the class, please pre-arrange it with your child’s teacher. You can do this by calling the main office, 303.340.3140 and requesting to be connected with his/her voicemail extension. Celebrations can only take place from 2:00-2:15 in order to minimize disruption to instruction and learning.

Student Sign-in and Sign-out Procedures If you would like to withdraw your child from class early, please stop by the front office and be prepared to present a valid photo I.D. upon request. Our front office staff will call to the classroom and ask that your child be sent to the front office for early dismissal. You will have to sign out your child in our sign-out log. When you bring your child back after an earlier dismissal, please stop by the front office and sign your child back in. Reminder: All visitors must sign in at our Office. Only authorized persons, listed in our computer system, may pick up your child.

Morning Drop-Off Hours If your child will be having breakfast at school, he or she will need to be here by 7:10 a.m. Please have them enter through the cafeteria door which is located on the west side of the bldg. (they can not enter through the front office). There will not be any adult supervision outside until 7:30 a.m. on the playground. Please do not send your child to school before then.

Congratulations to our PreSchool Staff : Dulcie Velasco and Motilma Curry!!! “The Child Development Center at Sable Elementary has earned the prestigious four-star Qualistar rating. The Qualistar rating is part of the School Readiness Project, a grant that provides coaching and supplies to promote quality preschool or childcare classrooms. Qualistar evaluations are conducted annually at each preschool site. The four-star rating is the highest possible score. In addition to the APS Child Development Center, five APS elementary schools participate in the project – Sable, Altura, Fletcher, Fulton and Montview. The Sable site is the first to receive a four-star rating. Developed by 150 early childhood experts, the Qualistar rating measures quality in licensed early learning programs, both home and center-based, that serves children from birth to kindergarten. The assessment uses a four-star rating.”

Compass After School Program COMPASS is an after school program that provides literacy intervention and enrichment programs to students in grades 1 through 5. The program will run M-W from 2:15-4:30 beginning in August. Students will be nominated and selected by their teachers to participate. For information regarding the Compass Program, please direct your call to 720.271.2560. Please call this number if you need to ask a question, report an absence, or take out your son/daughter early. Student Information Changes: Within two weeks after school begins you will be receiving a student information package. In this package you will find a Student Verification Form, a Demographic Change Form, and a form outlining documents needed to process a change of address. If you have any changes to be made from the Student Verification Form, please do NOT make those changes on the form itself but complete the Demographic Change Form instead and return it to our office staff. Felicidades al personal de PreSchool: Dulcie Velasco and Motilma Curry!!! El Centro de Desarrollo de Niño’s de Sable han ganado el premio de cuatro estrellas, Qualistar. El premio Qualistar es un premio del proyecto de School Readiness, el proyecto es para el desarrollo profesional de las maestras, y útiles para los niños, y para sostener una programa de calidad para preschool y cuida de niños Cada año se conducta evaluación de programa. Las cuatro estrellas son marcas más altos de todas. En el distrito de Aurora cinco escuelas participan en el proyecto; Sable, Altura, Fletcher, Fulton y Montview. Escuela Primaria Sable es la primera escuela que recibe este premio de cuatro estrellas. 150 expertos de Preschool, fomentaron la marca Qualistar, mide la calidad de programas preschool en la casa y en los centros desde recién nacidos hasta kinder. Usan la evaluación de cuatro estrellas.

Compass después de Escuela COMPASS es programa que se conducta después de escuela. La programa es para intervención y enriquecimiento para alumnos de primer grado hasta quinto grado. ¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2008-2009! Me da un placer estar aquí para el nuevo año de escuela Espero tener un buen año de progreso académico para sus hijos. La escuela primaria Sable es un lugar especial. En los dos años pasados de ser Director, aprendí que tenemos maestros profesionales y cualificados de excelencia y un gran apoyo de la comunidad. Si gustan celebrar el cumpleaños de su hijo/a en escuela y compartir refrescos con la clase, por favor de llamar a la maestra. El número de la escuela es 303-340-3140. Para no perturbar el instrucción, las fiestas serán a las 2:00 hasta las 2:15.

Firma para recoger su hijo/a temprano Es importante y necesario firmar para recoger su hijo/a temprano durante el día escolar. Para el seguro de los alumnos cada persona que recoge un alumno necesita ensenar identificación con foto. La oficina llama por el alumno mientras usted firma el registro. Si el alumno regresa a la escuela, por favor de llegar en la oficina para marcar la hora de regreso. Todos que entran la escuela deben entrar por la oficina.

Despedida de los alumnos en la mañana Si su hijo/a viene a desayunar en la escuela, necesita estar aquí a las 7:10 a.m. Por favor de entrar por la puerta de la cafetería que queda atrás de la escuela. No se entra por la puerta de enfrente. La cuida de niños, en la mañana, comienza a las 7:30 a.m. para la seguridad de los niños por favor de no mandarlos mas temprano.
