INTRO One who thinks he’s escaped his past is foolish. I’ve been running from my own self and it led me back to Georgia. I’ve found the strength in my art to create beauty by telling my story without bitterness and hatred in my heart. Poetry won’t let me do that. I am proud of being a country girl. I am no longer a victim so I’m not running anymore. It is my sincere hope that everyone searching finds home within themselves first. Tell you story your way and leave breadcrumbs so others, inspired by your honesty and bravery, will follow suit and find home as well.
Peace~MLuv

Sweet Georgia pine smells And nosy neighbors yellin’,”Mornin’!” Excited about Saturday goin’ to town. Back of the truck ridin’ Soda crackers and Pepsi bottles And lazy after dinner walkin’ Tobacco chewin’ old folks and Oak wood burnin’ in the fireplace smells. Fall leaf rakin’ and cornbread bakin’ That’s got my taste buds awaken. I’m talkin’ boiled chicken, black-eyed peas, cabbage, White rice and sweet potatoes from Grandma’s garden That’s more than enough to share.

Tractors sharin’ your roads And cars on cinder blocks, Woodpiles and freezers stocked with venison meat. Chicken coops and pig-sty stinks. Butt whoopins’, out houses and smoke houses And plenty of hide and seek spots. It’s how we smile before we talk and say yes ma’am And no sir likes we wuz taught. And jes’ in case you forgot, Somebody’s mama could knock you in the mouth. WWW.MLUVWALL.COM

Jes’ country! I didn’t forget. Even though we’re all growed up And everybody’s got city slick. So much so, that Family reunions are in state parks Not backyards And family homes are long gone. I find myself wondering If I can still split a log or start a fire from kindling. Shell beans or shuck corn.
