Iconic Viewpoints

Ngorongoro Crater Accommodating approximately 300km² in Northern Tanzania lays the evergreen wonder of nature cradling Lake Magadi at its base. This sanctuary for wildlife is 20km in diameter and 600m deep, creating am awe-inspiring home for large numbers of wildlife such as the Elephant, Black Rhino, Zebra, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Lions and other large cats.

The Maasai live humbly in the highlands outside the crater, having integrated their lifestyle to their surroundings and the animals close by. It is the norm to see a herd of cows grazing with Wildebeest, Antelope and Zebra.

A Safari in Tanzania is incomplete without a visit to this world heritage site, and we assure only the most exceptional experience, not only in the crater, but with the community that surrounds it. View this majestic, historical site from the comfort of your room at Lion’s Paw.

The Great Migration Deemed “Africa’s Race For Life”, this picturesque event is by far one of the most captivating natural wonders and events in Africa. The circle of life begins in Southern Serengeti when the Wildebeests are calving, an attractive feast for Lions, Cheetah and for wildlife enthusiasts. During the end of the wet season (April - May), the herds travel towards Central Serengeti, chomping on the grassland for the Zebra and Gazelle to follow eating the shorter grass. They continue this long journey up to the Western Corridor where they cross the Grumeti River, heading towards North Kogatende. The migration crosses the path of the crocodile-infested rivers, a great risk for survival. With short rains starting in late October, the millions of hooves migrate back into the Serengeti, completing their astonishing 2,000 km migration to finish where they began, ready for the calving season in the South.

“BEYOND EXPECTATIONS” It would be impossible to top the experience of a day spent in the crater, but Lions Paw came darn close. The rooms are spacious, immaculate, with gorgeous four poster beds, a private balcony deck with amazing views to sit and drink your wine, and huge modern bathrooms. Lots of nice touches, including heated blankets, and good in-room wi-fi. Finally, the staff was beyond enthusiastic, including a joyous celebratory 10-minute dance to wish us happy birthday. Couldn’t be happier with this place!

“Most amazing place to stay in the Serengeti” We stayed as a couple for two nights in Serengeti Sametu Camp. This camp is an incredible luxury stay. The lodges are beautiful, spacious and finished to a very high standard. The wild animals surrounding the lodge make it an extra special experience. The restaurant, bar, bonfire, pool, views were all incredible. We were served three course dinners each night and breakfast was amazing.
