PARKS & REC GUIDE LEISURE EVENTS AND FUN!

WINTER/SPRING '23 JANUARY - APRIL, 2023

@dunwoodyparksandrec

Letter from the Director

A Jam-Packed New Year I’m proud of the fact that Dunwoody Parks & Recreation starts every new year with a focus on giving back. January 2023 marks the seventh year for Dunwoody’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. We’re grateful for our partnership with the Dunwoody-Atlanta Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. We’re also grateful to so many of you for making January 16 a day on and not a day off by planting trees and daffodils, donating canned goods, cleaning up trails and garden beds, and giving blood. Together, we’re making a difference. This winter, we anticipate cutting the ribbon on Dunwoody’s newest park, Two Bridges Park. This five-acre park located at 50 Perimeter Center East will include Dunwoody’s first splash pad (28 feet in diameter), along with an 8,000square-foot playground, natural surface walking trails, two pavilions, exercise equipment, and restroom facilities. It also supports our goal of connectivity by tying into the Dunwoody Trailway and pedestrian bridge over the North Fork of Nancy Creek. We’ll open the park this quarter but will wait to run the splash pad until the weather turns warmer this spring. We’re excited about this important amenity for families in the area. We think Two Bridges will also be a draw for visitors to Perimeter Center. We look forward to celebrating Black History Month (February) and Women’s History Month (March) with public art. We’ll have new murals on display along the fence at the Brook Run Skate Park. We’ve had great success with this program over the past two years and look forward to sharing more thoughtful and creative designs this year. The first quarter of the year brings the start of a new season for the Dunwoody Farmer’s Market (February 11), Dunwoody Food Truck Thursdays (April 27) and Lemonade Days (April 20-23). We also have great programs offered by our team and our partners. I encourage you to take some time to read through the pages of the L.E.A.F. to find your fit. Happy new year! Brent Walker Parks and Rec Director

There is no fee to participate, and the program is for all elementary and middle school students regardless of running ability or experience. Being a Kilometer Kid is not about running the fastest or winning the race.
