Love and Protection of the Unborn The whole mission of the Catholic Church in the world—the theme and purpose and vocation of every institution and every Catholic individual—is love. Why does the Church set up hospitals and adoption agencies and soup kitchens? Why have whole orders of nuns been founded to care for the elderly or the sick? Why did St. Damien offer to go to spend his last years serving in a leper colony in Hawaii? Why did Mother Teresa establish homes for men dying of AIDs? It’s not for money. It’s not for recognition. It’s not a plan to increase our numbers and our social influence. It’s not even because the Church is committed to taking care of her own. It matters not at all to any of these institutions or individuals whether the people they’re serving are Catholic. They don’t have to be Catholic. They can even be antiCatholic. We don’t do it for ourselves; we do it for love. We do it because we understand that each and every person is made in the image and likeness of God. Each, no matter how small or weak or wounded or messed up, is completely unique and infinitely precious. We understand that all human life ----including every child in the womb-----is a gift to be received, cherished, and served, not abused, not manipulated, not degraded, not destroyed.

Amor y Protección del Neonato Toda la misión de la Iglesia Católica en el mundo – el motivo, propósito y vocación de cada institución y cada individuo Católico – es amor. ¿Por qué la Iglesia establece hospitales, agencias de adopción y comedores populares ? ¿ Por qué tiene completas congregaciones de monjas que han sido formadas para la atención de los ancianos o enfermos?¿Por qué San Damían ofrece ir a pasar sus últimos años sirviendo en una colonia de leprosos en Hawai?¿Por qué Madre Teresa establece hogares para los hombres que están muriendo de Sida?

Esto no es por dinero. No, por reconocimiento. No, es un plan para aumentar nuestros números e influencias sociales. Esto no es aún por qué la Iglesia está comprometida a cuidar de los suyos. A estas instituciones o individuos no les importa en absoluto si las personas que están sirviendo son Católicos. No tienen que ser Católicos. Aún, pueden ser no-Católicos. No lo hacemos por nosotros, lo hacemos por amor. Lo hacemos por qué entendemos que todas y cada persona es hecha a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Cada uno, no importa cuán pequeño o débil, herido o desordenado, es totalmente único e infinitamente valioso. Entendemos que toda vida humana ----- incluyendo cada infante en el vientre materno ---- es un regalo para ser recibido, apreciado y servido, no abusado, no manipulado, no denigrado y no destruido.

Are We Observers or "Doers" in the Abortion Debate? Are we doing enough? The answer is an emphatic "no" as it is so easy to simply tune out and put this horror out of our minds and sight. Yet, nearly all violence done against human beings involves three types of people: the Perpetrator, the Victim and the Observer. This is sometimes called the "Tragic Triangle" With abortion, the abortionist, in collusion with the parent(s) is the perpetrator, the child is the victim, and the observers are all the rest of us. Some believe that we as observers have an equal or greater responsibility than the perpetrators because we can be more objective and if we were really motivated, we could stop this daily slaughter of the innocents. We can start by making sure we vote for LIFE in the forthcoming elections.

Somos Observadores o “Participantes”en el Debate Sobre Aborto? Estamos haciendo lo suficiente? La respuesta es un enérgico “NO” como lo es sencillamente el desconectarse y poner este horror fuera de nuestra vista y mente. Can We Change Peoples’ Minds? Some people (including many Catholics) feel like it is futile to continue to have a debate over the issue of abortion because people feel too strongly about it and have already made up their minds as to what they think. This is wrong.

People throughout history have changed their minds on vital social issues. When the United States was new, there was no suffrage or equal rights for women and racial minorities. Almost universally in the United States today, the general populace recognizes that this was wrong and that women and non-whites are entitled to their basic rights as human beings, and the law recognizes it too. It took many years and decades of intense struggle involving emotions just as fierce if not more fierce than those surrounding the Pro-Life Movement in the 21st century. But victories for freedom were won and people certainly did change their minds. That is how change happens. Education is vital so that more people understand the struggle to protect innocent life in the womb and then stand ready to defend the rights of all living people, including the unborn. Change can happen, and change will happen, providing we do our part to work tirelessly to advocate change for a freer, better world where the weak and vulnerable are protected and not exploited and/or victimized. Podemos Cambiar la Mentalidad de la Gente? Alguna gente (incluyendo muchos Católicos) piensan que es inútil continuar con el debate sobre la cuestión del aborto pues la gente tiene opiniones muy arraigadas acerca de esto y ya tienen la mente formada. Esto está equivocado.

A través de la historia la gente ha cambiado de opinión acerca de vitales cuestiones sociales. Cuando los Estados Unidos eran nuevos, no había voto ni derechos iguales para las mujeres o las minorías raciales. Casi todo el pueblo reconoce hoy que eso no era correcto y que las mujeres y las personas que no son de la raza blanca tienen derechos básicos como seres humanos, y la ley lo reconoce así también. Llevó eso muchos años y décadas de lucha intensa involucrando emociones iguales o más intensas que las que rodean al Movimiento Pro-Vida en el siglo 21. Pero se obtuvieron victorias para la libertad y la gente ciertamente cambió de opinión. Así es como el cambio ocurre. La educación es vital así la gente entiende la lucha para proteger la vida inocente en el vientre de la madre y está dispuesta a defender los derechos de todos los seres humanos vivos, incluyendo los aún no nacidos. El cambio puede ocurrir y el cambio va a ocurrir, siempre y cuando hagamos nuestra parte trabajando sin cansarnos para propugnar el cambio por un mundo mejor y más libre, donde los débiles y los más vulnerables no son explotados y/o victimizados.

It's Time for a Spiritual Audit! In virtually every aspect of Life, corporate, athletic, education etc., there is a constant evaluation process to measure growth and improvement. Now it is a good time to assess our spiritual progress. Have we made a difference? If God were totally our "faith in action" would He be pleased with what we have done (or failed to do)? Evils plague our society, such as abortion, pornography "comprehensive sex" education, tax funding of Planned Parenthood, and other anti-God, anti-life and antifamily issues. As Christians, we know that the Bible commands us to be active in serving God. Service is an action word, so we know that we cannot serve God by sitting on the sidelines, or being a "fence sitter". Are we as Catholics influencing our world, or is today's relativism and secularism influencing us much more? Are we setting an example to the next generation to protect marriage and to defend life, from conception until natural death, or are we just "passively" pro-life? Do we speak up when in a position to defend innocent life? Do we hold our elected representatives accountable? Obviously, we cannot do it all, but we can certainly do something! Literally, thousands of lives are at stake each and every day. If we do nothing we collude with the pro-aborts, the purveyor of pornography and those that wish to remove God from society. By doing nothing, we reap what they sow!

En prácticamente en todos los aspectos de la vida: corporativa, atlética y educación, etc., hay un constante proceso de evaluación para medir crecimiento y mejorar. Ahora es un buen momento para evaluar nuestro progreso espiritual. Acaso hemos hecho la diferencia? Si Dios fuera a contar nuestra “Fe en acción” estaría contento con lo que hemos hecho (o no)? Los males de nuestra sociedad , tales como el aborto, la pornografía, educación de sexo integral, financiando Parent Parenthood con los fondos de nuestros impuestos y otras cosas contra Dios, contra la vida y contra las cosas de familia. Como Cristianos, sabemos que la Biblia nos manda a ser activos en servir a Dios. Servicio es una palabra de acción, así que sabemos que no podemos servir a Dios sentándonos al margen o siendo un “guardián de la puerta. Acaso somos los Católicos que influyen a nuestro mundo, o el relativismo y secularismo de hoy influye más en nosotros? Acaso les estamos poniendo el ejemplo a las próximas generaciones de proteger el matrimonio y defender la vida desde la concepción hasta la muerte natural? O somos simplemente “Pro-vida” de los dientes para afuera. Acaso le pedimos cuentas a nuestros representantes electos? Obviamente, no podemos hacerlo todo, pero no cabe duda que podemos hacer algo! Literalmente, miles de vidas están en juego cada día y todos los días. Si no hacemos nada, vamos acabar juntándonos con los pro-aborto, los vendedores de pornografía y aquellos que desean quitar a Dios de nuestra sociedad. Por no hacer nada, cosechamos lo que sembramos! Catholics (and Christians generally) have a duty to inform themselves about where their political candidates stand on the issue. This evaluation starts, of course, with where they stand on violence against human beings, because if public servants cannot tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public, they do not belong in public office. What if a candidate supported terrorism? Would a God-fearing Catholic say, “Well, I disagree with you on terrorism, but what’s your health care plan? Maybe we can work together on some social programs. After all, terrorism is not the only issue.” The parallel, of course, is abortion. “Typically, the skull is brought out in fragments rather than as a unified piece” (Abortionist Martin Haskell, in 1999 Court testimony in Wisconsin, regarding legal abortion). How can anyone make the case that this skull-cracking, which is still legal, is less violent than terrorism----particularly as this occurs 3,500 times every day in the U.S? How can anyone make the case that we can tolerate it while we work with the candidate on “social” programs? The heart of what is “social” is that it respects the other person –--- and that means not cracking their skull. We fight terrorism, and rightly so. But when we allow abortion and vote for pro-abortion politicians at the same time, the evil we fight becomes merely a reflection of the evil we do. Pro-Life Articles

POR FAVOR VOTA PRO-VIDA Los católicos (y cristianos en general) tienen el deber de informarse que es la posición de sus candidatos políticos en este tema. Esta valuación empieza, por supuesto, en saber qué es lo que piensan de la violencia en contra de la vida humana, porque si los políticos no saben la diferencia entre el servicio al público y matando al público, ellos no pertenecen en una oficina pública. Qué tal si el candidato apoya el terrorismo? Acaso un católico-temeroso de Dios diría, “Bueno, yo no estoy de acuerdo con usted sobre el terrorismo, pero que tal esta su plan médico? A la mejor podríamos trabajar juntos en algunos programas sociales. Después de todo, el terrorismo no es el único problema. Algo relacionado, por supuesto, es el aborto. “Normalmente, el cráneo es sacado en fragmentos en vez de una sola pieza” (fue el testimonio sobre el aborto legal de él abortista Martin Haskell en 1999 en el estado de Wisconsin).

Como puede ser que alguien pueda justificar que el quebramiento de cráneo, cual es todavía legal, sea menos violento que el terrorismo---especialmente cuando esto ocurre 3500 veces al día es Estados Unidos? Como puede alguien justificar que podemos tolerar esta acción mientras trabajamos con los candidatos en programas “sociales”? El alma de lo que es ”Social” es que respeta la otra persona----y eso significa que no les quebremos su cráneo. Luchamos contra el terrorismo, y con mucha razón.
