They are the essence and philosophy of our brand which aim is to create a dynamic, cosmopolitan, and trendy woman who seeks comfort and sophistication in their daily lives. Handicraft as the main concept. The product is handmade, preserving the tradition from its origins, and providing every pair of shoes its uniqueness, as well as giving them an exclusive beauty. Maypol supone un soplo de aire fresco por su mezcla de moda y artesanía interpretada de una forma moderna e innovadora gracias a sus vanguardistas diseños. Calzado en estado puro. Maypol entails a breath of fresh air due to its evocative blend of fashion and innovative craftwork in their cutting-edge designs. Footwear in its pure state.

02/orígenes/ origins. Caravaca de la Cruz, ubicada en el Sureste Español y cuna ancestral de la industria alpargatera, es también conocida por sus tradicionales festejos, Los Caballos del Vino, en los que históricamente los mozos corrían los corceles calzados con alpargatas realizadas en yute, hoy declarada patrimonio cultural.

Caravaca de la Cruz, located in the Southeast of Spain, is not only well known for being cradle of the ancient shoe culture, but also for its local celebrations: The Wine Horses, which have been declared to be of International Tourist Interest. During the race, the horsemen run up to the hill wearing espadrilles handmade with jute.

Corrían principios de los años 80 cuando comenzó la andadura de la firma. En ella, Manuel Polo trató de aunar el talento de los antiguos maestros alpargateros con las tendencias más actuales del momento. Así nació Maypol. Originalmente las suelas eran fabricadas a domicilio por el alpargatero, que trabajaba únicamente la suela de cuerda trenzada en rudimentarias mesas de madera y las costureras añadían la lona y las cintas. El proceso de producción actual mantiene parte de ese aroma tradicional, usando el yute, un arbusto tropical mucho más flexible y fácil de trenzar que el esparto, como una de sus principales materias primas en un sistema de fabricación totalmente artesanal.

At the beginning of the 80s, the brand was initiated. With this brand, Manuel Polo attempted to coordinate the talent of the most ancient espadrille-makers and the latest contemporary trends. This is how Maypol was created. Initially, the soles were fabricated at the espadrille-maker’s house, who worked only the plaited rope sole with the help of a rudimentary wooden table, and the seamstresses added the tarpaulin and the ribbons. The production process nowadays keeps part of that traditional way by using jute, a tropical shrub more flexible and easy to weave than marram. Therefore, jute is the main raw material in an entirely craftsmanship production system.

03/proyección/ projection.

El saldo definitivo al panorama internacional surge de manos de la siguiente generación, quienes aportan un aire innovador a la marca, proyectándola al mundo como un producto cosmopolita y adaptando el producto a las necesidades de la mujer actual. La creación de nuevas instalaciones y la división del trabajo en plantas especializadas han llevado a producir 300.000 pares anuales que llegan a mas de 30 países, manteniendo el mismo proceso artesanal que caracterizaba a la firma en sus inicios.

Its definitive leap to the international trade came up with the following generation, who have provided the firm a renovated style, projecting it to the world as a cosmopolitan offer of its products and by adapting them to the needs of the current woman. The creation of our new facilities and the division of labour in different specialized departments have enhanced the main characteristics of the traditional handicraft process of our brand and generated a distribution to more than 30 countries.

En estos momentos, Maypol incorpora líneas adicionales al tradicional yute que completan su oferta de zapatos, botas y botines fabricados con nuevos materiales que le permiten cubrir los estacionales de primavera-verano y otoño -invierno. At the moment, Maypol includes additional lines of style to the traditional jute that complement its offer of shoes, boots and ankle boots, made with new materials in order to meet the needs of both seasons: Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter.

Todos los zapatos de la firma Maypol están fabricados íntegramente en Caravaca de la Cruz, auténticos “Made in Spain”, garantizando así su calidad en la selección y utilización de materiales como en su diseño y proceso de fabricación. Every single pair of shoes of the Maypol brand are made entirely in Caravaca de la Cruz, authentic shoes “Made in Spain”, guaranteeing therefore their quality from the moment of selecting and using materials, when designing them and finally when they are produced.

05/moda/ fashion. En la actualidad, Maypol cuenta con un equipo de diseño que estudia, analiza y desarrolla las últimas tendencias en calzado femenino. La mujer es nuestra marca.
