WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

MARCH 30, 2023 | P1

Ms. Agnes Nieto, or whom some of us might know as Ms. A, is the Assistant Vice President of Megaworld Training and development. We all know her as a cheerful and jolly spirit person that gives you good vibes whenever she talks. But before all her success today, Ms. A was just a 19-year-old fresh graduate from Ateneo de Naga who landed her first job as a facilitator of a Personality Development Program (for) Freshman College students. Way back in her first year as a facilitator, a student approached her to do self-harm which led to her passing on the same week. This tragic encounter led her to dive into helping professions, which she defines as counseling, teaching, and helping people.

THE WOUNDED HEALER "My calling to be in the helping profession also gave me a taste. God provided me with a bitter pill. I myself went through a series of life events that wounded me, shattered me ---I became a single parent, and life lessons never stopped!" she shared. Life is full of roller coaster rides. Sometimes, it brings you down, but in God's grace, it lifts you up. As she is as smart as a whip, she used her bittersweet experience as a tool for her sweet success. "But, all these helped me understand how it is to feel pain, difficulty, (and) crisis. This made me become a "wounded healer" and (this has) provided me with a lot of wisdom." she added.

THE IDEA OF BLENDING Every career woman struggles with balancing daily personal and professional life. This may be a struggle for others, but she uses this weapon to inspire other career women. She unhesitantly spills her secret of balancing life- the idea of blending. In her definition, the idea of blending is work-life integration. She proudly shared her motherly techniques on how she handled her time as a mother and as a career woman.

"I would drop him to school in the morning, share with his music while driving, tell him stories on the way, and hold his hand. I would bring homework, and we work together. He does his studies, and I do my work at home at night. Weekends are his, and we visit museums and go to parks. I even bring him to work at times and let him meet my office mates. He behaves when he is in the office. I train and teach him decorum when he goes to the office." she shared her story about how she smartly uses her time. Time must be used efficiently and effectively. This is a perfect example of solving instead of absorbing the problem. As it is effective for her, she highly recommends it to all MegaWomen. "Relax and breathe. Don't wish for equilibrium"— that's stressful. Think of blending acts--- it works better." she uttered confidently." she added.

SHOW THEM WHAT YOU GOT INTELLECTUALLY

AND EMOTIONALLY She advocates women's rights and equality through the teaching and helping profession. "Be good in presenting this cause. No need to fight antagonistically; you show them what you have got intellectually and emotionally. I have used information campaigns, developed programs, and empowered young people, women and men alike, to believe in themselves, check perspectives and model the way!" she uttered. She emphasized that everyone should practice equity while recognizing and accepting that everyone has a different status and respecting individuals' capabilities.

TO MAKE A 1% DIFFERENCE IN THE GROWTH OF

THE PEOPLE

"For 41 years now, I know I made the right choice that suits and fits my personality. I even made my mission statement: To make a 1% difference in the growth of the people whom I get in touch with through teaching, facilitating, and serving, day after day. I found my bliss, and it never tires me." she inspiringly wrote.

Her energy and motivation are insurmountable as she blends her passion and purpose. She also added that she overcomes things by being true to herself. "I practice mindfulness—I express myself! No pretenses. I allow myself to feel--- sad, mad, glad, and afraid. I forgive myself, I admit mistakes, and I am willing to make amends and correct myself. I listen and appreciate the feedback. I learn and never get tired of it. I am as human as anyone!" she shared.

REINVENT YOURSELF Ready your notes as this Megawoman sets forth real and honest advice. "Just be You! Find your bliss. Reinvent yourself. Cry if you must. Thrive in chaos. Ask if you don't know— always be curious and ready to take a risk. Break a limb if you must. Listen and listen well. Stay hungry, Stay foolish (Steve Jobs), Never stop learning because life never stops teaching." she further explained. In this article, Ms. Agnes Nieto expressly showed her genuine and purest personality, leading her to face reality's daily sides excellently. With her self-esteem and vulnerability, she significantly expressed that being true to yourself and others led to the path toward real success.

Ms. Agnes Nieto's story is a true inspiration to all aspiring career women. Her journey toward success was not without challenges, but she persevered and used her experiences to become a "wounded healer" dedicated to helping and empowering others. She also emphasized the importance of work-life integration and practicing equity while recognizing individuals' capabilities. Her passion for teaching and serving others, combined with her authenticity and willingness to reinvent herself, serves as a reminder that true success comes from being true to oneself and never giving up on learning and growing, a certified #MegaWoman.
