Melcourt Multi-Purpose is Which? Best Buy

M

elcourt’s SylvaGrow Multi-Purpose was in February recognised as a top performer and a Which? Best Buy, earning it the right to use the prestigious endorsement. Only products receiving a Which? Best Buy can use the logo – it can’t be bought. The Best Buy shows that properly formulated peat-free

products work successfully for many crop types. Andy Chalmers said, “It will be challenging to quantify the benefits derived from the Which? endorsement, but in a typical garden centre compost environment, the widely recognised and respected logo should help customers make the right choice. In a market with no formal product quality standards, SylvaGrow Multi-Purpose’s achievement is a testament to the diligent R&D work carried out over many years and our excellent production team.” For production reasons, the logo won’t appear on the Multi-Purpose bags, but we can offer stockists a selection of practical ‘point of sale’ items.

SylvaGrow products move to 40L polybags

T

he SylvaGrow range of peat-free compost (including Melcourt All Purpose Peat-Free Compost) has reduced in size from 50L to 40L. Melcourt has an excellent bag fill, and the reaction from our customers suggests that the size reduction is hardly noticeable. The new look 40L bag includes the whole SylvaGrow range: Multi-Purpose, With Added John Innes, Organic, Ericaceous, Tub & Basket, and new addition to the line-up, Rose Tree & Shrub planting

compost. Every pallet out on order now has 75 bags of 40L compost. New barcode numbers and Melcourt order codes are in the catalogue and latest price list. The 40L bags clearly state they are 100% peat-free and display the Responsible Sourcing Scheme logo, our Royal Warrant, and the much-valued RHS Endorsement. Furthermore, because fresh compost is always best, every bag will now show a date of manufacture printed on the side to help with stock rotation.

New Rose Tree & Shrub planting compost

ollowing customer feedback and requests, we rebranded our Melcourt TopGrow to Rose, Tree & Shrub, which has started rolling off the new year’s packaging lines. We are delighted with the new look Rose Tree and Shrub planting compost bag; it is now part of the SylvaGrow range and is a 100% peat-free planting compost for the successful establishment and growth of roses, trees and shrubs. Only the 40L product is RHS-endorsed, but is also available in bulk bags. Get in touch for new website icons.

Royal Warrant gain

W

e’re delighted to have been awarded a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen prior to her passing away. And to be the only supplier of these types of horticultural products to have been granted Royal Warrants by both HM The Queen and HRH Prince Charles. A Royal Warrant of Appointment is a mark of recognition. It is granted to companies who supplied goods or services to HM The Queen, HRH The Prince of Wales or their households.

The 7kg range includes Horticultural Coarse Grit, Potting Grit and Sharp Sand. The three products represent the start of a comprehensive smaller, handier and lighter pack product range. Uniquely endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) they complement the well-established 20kg packs.
