TRIP GUIDELINES & KEY INFO

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING TROPIC STAR LODGE FOR YOUR FISHING ADVENTURES!

YOUR TRIP TO TROPIC STAR IS AROUND THE CORNER! PREPARING FOR YOUR TRIP Thank you, once again, for trusting us to make your wildest fishing dreams a reality. The paradise that awaits you has been a part of the angling world for 60 years. Throughout this time, a lot has changed - but passionate anglers, an abundant fishery, and a breathtaking rainforest location has ensured that it has kept its place as a top fishing destination worldwide. Our expert fishing team strives towards helping you achieve all of your fishing goals and objectives, so please, share as much as you can with them during the orientation when you arrive. Of course, not everything is in our control - but our priority is to ensure that whatever is, will be of the highest standard. We can't wait to share this unique experience with you. Our team is ready and waiting to take care of you every need! Comfortable, casual clothes. Laundry is available on site, so packing light is encouraged Long pants / semi-formal attire for dining in Panama City One or two smart casual items for dining room dinners Sun safe apparel - caps, sun shirts etc. We do also sell these items in our boutique Any medications you may require Sunscreen Cash for gratuities and local craft shopping. We accept VISA, Mastercard, and AMEX but prefer cash for the above, due to our remote location, and not having access to banking facilities in Piñas Bay. Many specific items from the USA can be hard to find in Panama City. If you have items that are critical to the enjoyment of your trip, please ensure you bring these along with you. The lodge is remote, and although we try our best to ensure our on-site boutique is well stocked with essentials, please review the following recommended pack-list in preparation for your trip:

1 medium, soft-side bag not to exceed 30 lbs 1 carry-on bag not to exceed 15 lbs (Please include the weight of your laptop if you bring one) 1 standard rod case (let us know in advance please) Please pack using mid-size duffel bags or 1 medium soft sided suitcase. Smaller bags are easier to pack into the cargo hold of the domestic aircrafts for your trip to and from the Lodge. Large suitcases may not fit, even if they are only 30 pounds. Excess, large suitcases or additional baggage (more than one suitcase and one carry-on bag per person), will be considered standby and may not arrive the same day and will be subject to charge. BAGS - Each guest is allowed: There is no need to bring your own rods and reels, however if you wish to do so please advise the Reservation Office as there is limited cargo space aboard the planes traveling to/from Piñas. A representative from the Tocumen Royal Saloon will meet your international flight at the gate, assist you through Immigration and Customs and take you into the Royal Saloon. The representative will request your tickets, passport, Immigration and Customs Forms, baggage claims and any keys or combinations for your luggage. Please give them $2.00 per bag for the luggage porters. While you relax and enjoy a complimentary drink in the VIP Lounge, your documentation and luggage will be taken care of. You will then be escorted to the City Transfer Service. Prior to boarding the vehicle, please check that all baggage is accounted for. Tipping is optional but appreciated. Tropic Star Lodge does not have a telephone that receives phone calls. Please tell your family and office staff, in the event of an emergency and they need to contact you, they must call the Panama City office and our staff will get in touch with you at the Lodge, or call the reservations manager on his cell after hours and on weekends only. ARRIVAL IN PANAMA AND TRAVEL TO TROPIC STAR

Dress casually for travel to the lodge: light comfortable shirt, beach shoes (easily slipped off), shorts, or pants which can be rolled up easily in the event of low tide, when we sometimes board the transport boat (panga) from the beach. In the morning, your driver will escort you to the Albrook (domestic) Airport, to catch your charter flight to the lodge. We charter Caravans, Kodiaks or Senecas, depending on the number of people, and amount of cargo going to the Lodge. You are required to be at the Albrook Airport at least forty-five minutes prior to departure. Your hotel pick up is scheduled according to these guidelines, so being punctual on the morning of your departure to the lodge is very important. The flight from Albrook to Piñas Bay is approximately fifty (50) minutes. When you get off the plane, you will make your way to our "terminal building" where can enjoy a cold beverage. Once the plane has taken off, you will board our “jungle cruise bus”, the Chiva, for a short ride to the river mouth or beach, depending on the tide. Once there, you will board a “panga” for a short boat ride to the lodge. If you are departing from the beach, please note that we are at the mercy of the tide, and once you are on board the panga, we will need to wait for the waves to come in to deploy the boat. This can take a couple of minutes, but it is all a part of the jungle experience! When you arrive at the lodge, you will be welcomed at our Marlin Bar and given a short introduction and key info regarding your trip. Shortly thereafter, you will be assigned your room. On arrival day, you will enjoy a delicious lunch in the Bayview Restaurant. The remainder of the day will be at your leisure. Relax, enjoy time at the pool, kayak in the Bay, hike to White Beach, or simply start preparing for a fantastic fishing trip. End off your first day with a Welcome Cocktail Party at the pool, followed by a buffet dinner to get to know your fellow anglers.

Please ensure that you speak to our fishing team about any and all of your angling preferences prior to your first day of fishing. Our team will always try to do whatever possible to exceed your expectations, so if something isn't to your liking, or you would like to do something differently to what has been discussed in the orientation, please communicate this so that we can address your requests accordingly, prior to fishing. YOUR TROPIC STAR LODGE TRIP FISHING DAYS: Boats depart at 6:30 AM, but can leave later if requested. Lunch will be served on the boat, based on your selected preferences. Water, sodas, beer, and any other beverages requested will be stocked on the boat, and ready for you daily. If you find you don't have enough of something in particular, please advise our team about it when you return from fishing, and they will ensure this is taken into account for the next day. The same goes for anything that has not met your expectations with regards to your boat or the fishing equipment provided. All boats return to the dock by 3:30 PM, unless you are hooked up. For safety reasons, all boats must return to the Lodge well before dark. NON-FISHING DAYS/NON-FISHING GUESTS: On days you are not fishing, or for our non-fishing guests, we have many shoreside activities on offer. Whether you opt for swimming, kayaking, beach-combing, exploring the jungle and rivers, being pampered in the Jungle Spa, or enjoying one of our on-site tours/excursions, you are sure to enjoy a unique experience never to be forgotten. Speak to our land-side team to plan the perfect itinerary for your stay.

These are at your discretion and based on quality of service. CAPTAIN & MATE: The average tip for your crew is $100 to $200 per boat for each fishing day. Upgraded yachts, Pollyanna and Teresita with two mates, suggested gratuity is $150 to $250 per day. These gratuities are per boat, not angler. Please tip your Captain in cash on the last fishing day. LAND AND DINING ROOM STAFF: You may tip each staff member personally, or simply add to your bill by indicating the amount by each name. Alternatively, you may leave a total gratuity for all land based and wait staff (recommended $35 - $45 per guest per day, depending on personal tips already dispensed). A tip recommendation form will be placed in your room two nights before departure for your convenience. We suggest you bring cash for your fishing and dock crews and you can keep this in the safe in your room. Please always try to bring at least $300 in small bills to the lodge to buy some special handcrafts, baskets, carvings, beaded jewelry, etc. There are no banks in Piñas or at the lodge and having the correct change is very helpful. Incidental expenses are charges you incur at the Lodge, including Panamanian room tax. All guests will be charged room tax of $70.00 per room per week or $35.00 pp, double occupancy. For shorter stays, the tax is $5.00 pp per day, double occupancy or $10.00 pp per day, single occupancy. Other charges include gratuities, purchases at the boutique, laundry, bar tabs, beer consumed on your boat, massage therapist, special air charters, any special excursions, taxidermy orders, etc. Laundry Service is available at the Lodge on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a nominal fee. Coolers are NOT permitted. The power is the same standard as the U.S. and Hair dryers are available at the Lodge. GRATUITIES INCIDENTALS
