Week 14 - 29th Aug to 2nd Sep 2022 Topic: Honesty Honesty could become a debatable topic, because arguments could arise that certain situations require that the whole truth not be told. But in the long run, we should remember that honesty really pays back in the form of good relationships, because honesty brings trust and reliability. Even our conscience will be clear when we are honest. Otherwise the nagging feeling inside us will not allow us to concentrate on other things. TERM 2 - GRADE 10 NOTES 2022 - 23

WEEK 15 (5 SEP - 9 SEP 2022) Human Intelligence S1 and S2 Being intellectually capable does not necessarily mean success in this world. In fact, some would argue that one's EQ (Emotional Quotient) is much more important than one's IQ (Intelligence Quotient). We all know people who are intellectually brilliant yet struggle to deal with the world around them. On the other hand, others less intellectually gifted are incredibly successful at dealing with their own emotions and those of others. So we are all now smiling chemically, seeing chemicals and everything chemicals assembled by chance and by chance a chemical is telling you that I am telling something which is all chemical therefore SQ is a subject matter beyond our material space. Which makes us question the purpose of life and our real identity, our constitution?

WEEK 17 (16 SEP - 20th SEP 2022) SELF CONFIDENCE We often develop feelings of inferiority and lack of self confidence through various negative life experiences at home, school, on the job, etc. Self confidence can be tested when confronted with tragic life situations like death of a very close family member or breaking up of a relationship with a very close friend. Believing that because you have failed before, you will fail again. Fear sets in which depletes self-confidence. According to research, optimistic people are healthier and live longer than pessimists. In 2010, researchers studied the results of 83 studies measuring the impact, optimism has on physical health. Optimists had better results when it came to overall longevity, survival from disease and pain tolerance.

WEEK 20 (10 Oct- 14th Oct 2022) Topic: Performing Arts. Any means of communication can be considered as performing art, while the message communicated is knowledge. Art is a means to portray bhävas, feelings and emotions, and the fulfillment of its expression lies in the creation of Rasa. Rasa signifies emotion; Nava Rasas signifies the nine emotions. The nine emotions included in Nava Rasas are Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya(laughter), Karuna (kind-heartedness/compassion), Raudra (anger), Veera (heroism/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Bibhatsya (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantha (peace or tranquility). Gandharva-veda gives us a glimpse of those Rasas through the various performing arts.

W23 (31th Oct to 4th Nov) An Overview of Mahabharata Learning: ● Mahabharata is one of the two great histories in Indian scriptures. ● The son of Parashara Muni, Vedavyasa, who is also known as Krishna Dwaipayena Vyasa composed this holy history. ● Mahabharata is the world’s greatest epic which contains 110,000 sanskrit verses. ● The study of the Bharata is an act of piety and he who reads even one verse with belief will have his sins entirely passed away. ● There is a subdivision of Mahabharata into 18 books called Parvas.

W24 (7th Nov to 11th Nov) Proof of Vedic Culture’s Indian Existence The Vedic Period or the Vedic Age refers to that time period when the Vedic Sanskrit texts were composed in India. Marine archaeology has also been utilized in India off the coast of the ancient port city of Dwaraka in Gujarat, uncovering further evidence in support of statements in the Vedic scriptures. An entire submerged city at Dvaraka, the ancient port city of Lord Krishna with its massive fort walls, piers, wharfs and jetty has been found in the ocean as described in the Mahabharata and other Vedic literatures. The Vedas however are not as well known for presenting historical and scientific knowledge as they are for expounding subtle sciences, such as the power of mantras. We all recognize the power of sound itself by its effects, which can be quite dramatic. Perhaps we all have seen a high-pitched frequency shatter an ordinary drinking glass. Such a demonstration shows that Loud Sounds can produce substantial reactions.

W25 (14th Nov to 18th Nov) Tolerance Learning : ● Tolerance means that one should be practiced to bear insult and dishonor from others ● One’s greatness has to be estimated by one’s ability to tolerate provoking situations. Need for tolerance: Equipped to handle extremities Can conquer desire and avarice Builds acceptance in a highly interconnected world ● Learning to tolerate the provocations of pain and pleasure will be rewarding in the future. Factors that give rise to intolerance: Lack of compassion Misleading self concept Motivated agenda of mis-leaders Channels of influence
