Bordeaux Médoc (AOC) Haut-Médoc Pauillac

Pauillac (POY-yok) is an area within the Haut-Médoc, located in the north, on the western banks of the Gironde River. Home to more “First Growth” Chateaux (3) than any other commune in Bordeaux. Less than 1% of Bordeaux wines (about 550K cases) come from Pauillac. Composed of only 9 square miles of vineyards in the Haut-Médoc, Pauillac is home to 18 Grands Crus Classés (classification of 1855) including three of Bordeaux's five first-growth wines: Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Latour, and Château Mouton Rothschild.
