Although small, our business is revered by our customers for its high quality products and amazing customer service. About Us Alta Juba is our community oriented supermarket. Here, we specialize in foods originating from the middle east, south Asia and Africa. We proudly offer a variety of food and beauty items, and have built a tight community consisting of customers and employees alike.

Our Mission Our goal is to perfect the quality of the products we distribute to our customers. Since the store’s conception, we were set on providing the best possible experience for our customers. We are privileged to serve our customers with the utmost respect and will do nothing but our best to satisfy them.

Our Distributors Phoenicia Group ITN food corporation Phoenicia is an international food company that specializes in distributing products that originate from the mediterranean and middle east such as olive oil and chickpeas. These products are authentically sourced and can be found under the ‘Cedar’ brand name. ITN food corporation exports fresh, high quality grains and legumes. The products we receive are wheat, oat and barley flours, grains beans and lentils from them. We also receive curry powders, spice blends, tea and henna from this company.

Matar Meats Embrun Livestock Exchange Our lamb meat is distributed from the Embrun Livestock. The meat arrives as a whole animal, that is slaughtered in a halal manner. It then gets separated into its different cuts in house, so it is always guaranteed fresh and ready to cook. Like our lamb, the rest of our meat is sent in fresh and never frozen. Once shipped to our store from Matar meats, it is separated into individual cuts, packaged in store and placed on display. Our Distributors

These range from pantry essentials like rice, vegetable oils and pastas, to more specific items like pre-made parathas and tandoori spice mixes, to fit your dietary needs. Our specialties are mediterranean, middle eastern, south asian and african food products, so our products can fit into a diverse range of dishes that anyone can make

Pantry items Our store comes with an abundance of rice products, however we specialize in basmati rice, which is a long and slender type of rice grain that is very aromatic. Unlike white rice, basmati rice has a low glycemic index scale and is great for those who are monitoring their blood sugar levels. We sell a variety of pantry items for any of your cooking needs. Whether it is for frying, or baking, we provide a variety of high quality products that are great with any dish.

Meat Products Our kosher and halal meats are all sourced from reliable sources that guarantee amazing flavour and texture. Our meat products are cut at our location and are guaranteed to be fresh and never frozen. Select from our variety of cuts of beef chicken and more, all at industry low prices!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS At Alta Juba, we also sell beauty products, our most popular of which being henna. Henna is a natural dye originating from africa, the middle east, and central asia. It can be used for a multitude of purposes, the most popular of which being a temporary hair dye, since it does not damage hair, unlike bleaching. It is perfect for those who want to dye their hair, without committing to bleaching.

About the Owner Mr. Jamaal Abdulle felt that there was a lack of a strong muslim community in southern ottawa, and decided to take matters into his own hands. This cumulated in him founding the Alta Juba supermarket, the naming of which being a phonetic spelling of a word in arabic meaning ‘the meal’, and creating a community based on culture and food.
