Research ● List of parts required ○ Frame ○ Engine ○ Suspension ○ Tires and wheels ○ Brakes ○ Seats ○ Seat belts ○ Centrifugal clutch ○ Torque converter ● dimensions of parts. ○ Frame dimension- l typically meet the standard measurements of 78” long, 25” tall and 52” wide. ○ Engine dimensions- the engine is typically a 4-stroke engine that produces 5-16 hp power. The engine must be a horizontal shaft engine with a shaft diameter of 3/4″ to 1″. ○ Suspension dimensions-

○ Tires and wheels dimensions-

○ Brakes dimensions-

○ Seat dimensions- Med/Large 156-170 33-34 ○ Seat belts dimensions Seatbelt is woven to international standard widths and is 46 – 49 mm wide; most is 47 mm (1.85 inches). ○ Centrifugal clutch dimensions- Chain Size #35 Shaft Diameter 5/8" Teeth 12

○ Torque converter dimensions torque- converters range from approximately 0.23 – 0.31 meters in diameter and 0.1 to 0.25 meters axially. ● Size limits of a standard kart ○ standard measurements of 78” long, 25” tall and 52” wide. Track

a rough path or road, typically one beaten by use rather than constructed.

Toe in

a slight forward convergence of a pair of wheels so that they are closer together in front than behind.

Kingpin Inclination

Swivel pin or kingpin inclination is the lateral inward tilt (inclination) from the top between the upper and lower swivel ball joints or the kingpin to the vertical

Displacement -

Go-kart engines usually run on the one-cylinder engine. The unit of measurement for displacement in cubic centimetres (cc). The bigger the displacement value, the larger the engine is.

Wheelbase-

the distance between the front and rear axles of a vehicle.

Toe out

slight forward divergence of a pair of wheels so that they are closer together behind than in front

Pitman angleThe pitman arm attaches to the steering gear shaft and acts as a lever, converting torque from the steering gear to mechanical force for movement of the steering linkage.

Dimensions

go-karts come in all shapes and sizes, and the racing variety is largely the same. Sprint and oval kart chassis will typically meet the standard measurements of 78” long, 25” tall and 52” wide

Overall length

straight-line measurement of the overall distance from the foremost point of the vessel to the aftermost part of the vessel, measured parallel to the centerline.

Caster

undriven wheel that is designed to be attached to the bottom of a larger object to enable that object to be moved

Maximum power output

of the electrical system is the product of output voltage, output current, and power factor (pf)

R.P.M

revolutions per minute, used as a measure of how fast any machine is operating at a given time

Gear Ratio

mechanical system formed by mounting gears on a frame so the teeth of the gears engage

Camber

one of the angles made by the wheels of a vehicle

maximum torque

the highest value of the net torque measured at full engine load.

Lever ratio

is any one of several financial measurements that assesses the ability of a company to meet its financial obligations.

Mistakes I made and Things I learned: ● Mistake- Leaving the clamp handle on the machine - makes a loud bang and handle goes flying after the machine is turned on ● Learnt - how to use 3 different machines ● Mistake- not measuring correct- didn't make the right size hole in what I was drilling ● Learnt- lots of different parts ok a go-kart How I would make the project better ● Spray paint it cool colours to make it look better ● Make the distance between the seat and peddles shorter What was difficultRemembering some of the steps to work different machines Figuring out what most of the little bits and pieces in the kart do What was easyMaking the little bits I made Cutting the rods
