It was One Dream Come true for us. But it was not simple to make this happen. It took lot of effort and hard work to execute. IMPETUS 17.0 Impetus 17.0 kick-started a month before the actual day of the fest. The theme for this year was the trending topic ‘Smart Era’. There were a series of curtain raiser events related to the theme conducted almost every day prior to Impetus. registrations was only possible due to the campaigns on social media, where in everyone helped us spread the message and the enthusiasm of the current UVCEians in making the event possible. Special Mention has to be made to the special Zumba workout that was proposed, planned and conducted by Dr. P Deepa Shenoy Ma’am and Dr. H S Veena Ma’ am which pumped the participants’ enthusiasm in the wee hours. Great Support was lent to us by Mr. Madhav Sir, 1985 batch alumni who helped us a great deal not only with rendering permissions from Cubbon Park Authorities and Bangalore Police in a short time but also fetched KMF Sponsorship for the event. I got a chance to learn a lot of things about organizing such an huge event and the people around me were so enthusiastic and energetic in each and every work allotted and we enjoyed a lot working together as a team. We got a good chance to meet a lot of alumni and it was a great experience overall.” - Rovin D’Souza, 6th Sem Mech “More than the 5 kilometers. It was the 5 minutes of immense joy that impelled my heart after such a great response. Indeed it was a big task up our sleeves to get together people from various places and also to make sure they were mesmerized by the organization of the event. Learnt a lot of skills like managing time, people and so on. I also had an opportunity to express myself and skills to help conduct the event. Finally the smiling faces and the dancing buddies was our greatest reward. Thank you for giving such an opportunity. Crowd gathered before flag off and by the time refreshments were arranged namma UVCEians were back. I felt like a roadrunner from cartoons, but in reality sprinting along the crowd, making sure that everything worked well, it made ecstatic. From registration desk to medals distribution, volunteers’ requirements to participants’ needs, finally securing moments of crowd dancing with enthusiasm! Phew..!! Was that me?? Did I do all of it?? Is what I ask myself and now I feel, UVCE centenary Marathon helped to explore a new responsible student in me.” -Harsha, 4th Sem Mech “It seems a tad unbelievable that 4.5 hour event requires a 45 day preparation. From going around the track 3-4 times before the day of marathon to running around several government offices to get the required permissions, the organizing team has run for several kilometers. Seeing the participants enjoy the event gave them a sigh of relief. From the moment we started planning about the marathon, I was wishing to run in this, I got that chance too. 6 For me this was “THE DAY”. Got the opportunity to meet Alumni where they shared few memories of their golden days. Event went smooth, it was well organized. Overall I was glad that we got this opportunity! Kudos to VisionUVCE. Likith M , 4th Sem Mech CAMPUS SAYS I would like to say that event was meticulously arranged, undoubtedly it was one of a kind. The professional way of handling impressed me. It also created an opportunity to meet my old students filled with passion towards UVCE. The standard of entire event was uplifted by looking after finer details like sign boards that were used, distribution of t-shirts and breakfast, arrangement of warm up session was something very unique. "I wish to be a part of 10k marathon that is to be organized at the end of centenary for students, alumni and their family members". Once again on a special note Warm up exercise session was enjoyable. It motivated me to organize similar events from our end in the years to come. I heartily congratulate and wish huge success for all events happening on behalf of VisionUVCE. A lot of time, dedication and effort of like-minded UVCEians was behind it, though it looked so simple and sophisticated. Being student of this prestigious institution I had expected a far bigger gathering on that day, but when it was about enthusiasm, numbers didn't matter; No crowd can be so lively, hats off UVCE! Presence of audio system brought that festive mood in our mind. I learned ZUMBA parallel to the event which helped most of them prior to the event. Effort of the organizing team is well exhibited in minor details like setting up those pits along the path, how amiably volunteers directed us, design of t-shirts, medals and arrangements made for distribution of food was extraordinary. I thank all supporters, sponsors and volunteers for being a part of this amusing event. Cherishing moments for me are those when I ran with my students, my batch mates, my colleagues where I quoted "Run! Run for the health of individual, run for the health of UVCE!" Hoping to see this marathon happening again next year. On a whole I spent my time and made memories that lasts longer, hoping that Vision UVCE conducts more such event, attract more people and gain success in all of their endeavors. UVCE 5K marathon was the moment enraptured with bulk of blissfulness ,redefined enthusiasm and tiredness of fun. Rejuvenating the energy with in a snap shot of run, it was a craved out memory with alumni, old and new buddies, not to forget lots and lots of fun. It might be a small run when compared to the run our college has had but surely was a massive event of this carnival year. It was enthralling to see the athleticism of the crowd which included present students and alumni of various batches who shared their stories about our college. All in all this run was a big hit and it surely paved way for lots more to come. - Melissa Glennis Lobo, 6th sem ECE "ಆಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಜಾ ಇದೆ ಓಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಖುಷಿಯಿದೆ" ಶತಮಾನ ಪೂರೆೈಸಿದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮ ನಮಮ ಸಂಸ್ೆೆಯದುು , ಅದರ ಮೊದಲ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ '5ಕೆ ಮಾಾರಥಾನ್' ಅನುು ಏಪ್ರರಲ್ 2ರಂದು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತುು. ಕಾಲೆೋಜಿನ ಪಾರಂಶುಪಾಲರು,ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಮತುು ಹಳೆಯ ವಿದಾಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ನನೆನುಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಉತ್ಾಾಹದಂದ ಈ ನಿಟೆನಿೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲೆನಗಂಡರು. ಕಾಲೆೋಜಿನಿಂದ ಪಾರರಂಭ್ವಾಗಿ ಕಬ್ಬನ್ ಪಾರ್ಕಿನ ಸುಂದರ ಪಾರಂಗಣವನು ಸುತುುವಹಾಗೆ ಈ ಓಟವನುು ಏಪಿಡಿಸಲಾಗಿತುು. ದಣಿವಾದರೆ ಸಂತ್ೆೈಸಲು ಅಲಿಲ್ಲಿ ಮಜಿಿಗೆ ಮತುು ಬಾಳೆಹಣುು ಕೆನಡುತ್ತುದುರು. ಇದರೆನಡನೆ ತಣುನೆಯ ನಿೋರು ಕನಡ ಲಭ್ಾವಿತುು. ಈ ಪಧಾರ್ಿಗಳನುು ಸ್ೆೋವಿಸುತ್ಾು ಸ್ೆುೋಹಿತರೆನಂದಗೆ ಹರಟುತ್ಾು ಕಬ್ಬನ್ ಪಾಕಿನುು ತಲುಪ್ರದೆವು.ಇದಾದ ಬ್ಳಿಕ ಮತ್ೆು ಕಾಲೆೋಜಿಗೆ ಮರಳಿದೆವು. ಕಾಲೆೋಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲಿರನ ಉಪಹಾರವನುು ಸ್ೆವಿಸಿದೆವು. ಆನಂತರ ಎಲಿರನ ಸ್ೆುೋಹಿತರೆನಡನೆ ಕುಣಿದು ಕುಪಪಳಿಸಿದೆವು.ಹಿೋಗೆ ನಾವೆಲಿರನ ಈ ಕಾಯಿಕರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ, ಎಂದನ ಮರೆಯಲಾಗದಂತಹ ನೆನಪಬ್ುತ್ತುಯನುು ಕಟ್ಟಿಕೆನಂಡೆವು. -ರಮ್ಾಾ ಶ್ರೀ ಡಿ ಆರ್, 2ನ್ ಸೆಮ್ ,ಐ ಎಸ್ ಇ Movement is the best form of medication. Anytime you move, it makes your mind sharper. What better way to start our centenary celebrations than a marathon? Every aspect of it teaches us something inestimable. Firstly, wake up early! Because marathons ain't for night owls. Warm up with zumba, who wouldn't love that? The next thing is to put on the running shoes and hit the road! Because you'd desire to finish it! And finishing a marathon is a state of mind which says anything is possible. Volunteering for marathon has been 'momentous' for me. What made our participants joyous is that we kept it simple but we made sure that their every need was catered to. The refreshments we provided them in the pit stops and the parking facilities arranged for nearly 800 participants is what we are really proud of. The credits definitely goes to the organisers and their endless efforts in making this a grand success. Our marathon was rather elegant than pompous. It was a delight to watch the elders run alongside young souls with no drop in their enthusiasm. That grin from ear to ear when they saw us holding butter milk! The grin widened when they realised it was free! The appreciation we received from participants of another marathon for lending them refreshments was priceless. A lady came up to me and said, "Little girl! thank you for that bottle of water. We had to run 8 kms without water." That gratitude she showed made my day. Last but not the least I'd like to thank all my seniors for teaching me how to offer an helping hand, in short volunteering. Now when I'm asked why I volunteer , I'd say "Doing good is it's own reward." - Smruthi, 2nd sem EEE

8 "Wow such a huge strength of namma Alumni. We will have a great day today!", Gayatri was off her toes when she yelled this with excitement on seeing enthusiastic Alumni from 60's - 90's batch in shorts warming up for the Marathon and Walkathon ahead. And yes the exciting part was we were volunteers for the same. She was right! It was a day where we had a glimpse of our youthful alumni! Being volunteers, it was a proud moment for us to support the alumni. As the college has a grand history of 100 years there were a lot of enthusiastic alumni from 60’s batch onwards. For us as volunteers, we were distributed into teams which included volunteers at registration desk, pit stops, junctions to guide people, engaging them during warm up zumba dance, helping in transporting requisites to pit stops and many more. This shows how well the program was organised. Watching alumni and faculty dance along with us to the beats of the song is not an everyday sight and gathered people thoroughly enjoyed it. On that day we made lot of memories, dance was preceded by the photo session. We feel proud to be a inseparable part of such meticulous event. - ENTHUSIASTIC EEE VOLUNTEERS Volunteering for marathon, one of the biggest centenary celebrations of UVCE was my pleasure. It was really a memorable experience. Providing refreshments for the people who had gathered there was not that mattered there but it was happiness that mattered in doing so. I was really glad to hear the positive response from alumni of our college, students and also from the staff. I'm thankful to all the organisers for such a wonderful event and all the participants for making this event a grand success. Akshath, 2nd Sem CSE As part of Centenary celebrations, as many as 840 alumni of the college took part in 5k marathon organised in association with vision UVCE on Sunday, the 2nd April. In the warm summer morning, the participants of the marathon had a joyful run in the pleasant atmosphere of Cubbon park, located in heart of the city. The event brought together old students ranging from stalwarts like former International badminton player Arvind Bhatt to those who graduated out of the college recently. To sum up in a line, the first event of Centenary celebrations saw a huge success. - Anagesh Muruli, 2nd Sem ISE It was a wonderful experience for all of us. It was well organized. As it was a part of the centenary celebrations, it was a pleasure to attend the marathon. The warm up session was awesome. The breakfast was yummy. online participants for 2 online events. With more than 15 Curtain Raiser events and 3 workshops, Impetus 17.0 was successful in creating awareness of the various technical trends among students. One major point to highlight is the “Mobile App” - with more than 400 downloads, it was surely a hit to get the notifications about the events and results at the finger tips. 11 MARATHON FEEDBACK The whole day was fun. But if I had to give genuine feedback, then there were too much traffic at the route for 5k run. It was really annoying as it was braking our momentum every time. Rest of the arrangements were good! -Anwesha Karmakar Very nicely done. Next time please do more promotions so that many more can join and announce the dates a bit early which helps people to plan. -Pradeep Kumar Everything was good! But in future organizers should keep in mind to educate people while disposing the waste. There was a mention of energy drinks in the email which mentioned about registration kit. But the same was not received / available in the refill stations. Once it is mentioned the expectation that it would be there builds up. Same with Bananas too, we saw it but did not get it as it was not sufficient I suppose. Another thing was garbage bins were overflowing and were less compared to the crowd that had turned up. So that is one point to take care of in the future.
