Good morning,

Welcome to the twelfth Archdiocesan Saint Padre Pio Prayer Group Meeting and Holy Mass and Communion Service here at the Shrine of Saint Padre Pio. The group is to serve in prayer for the entire Archdiocese at the request of the Archbishop. Your participation in the prayers is important, so after we announce the decade of the rosary, please pray for the special intention listed in the handout. We have included English and Spanish language translations in this handout so that each of us may participate as fully as possible in this service. At the end of our Prayer Service please join in prayer reciting the prayer to Saint Padre Pio written by Saint John Paul II. We will begin the Rosary using the Joyful Mystery, alternating English to Spanish. At the end of each Decade we will recite the prayer requested by the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

Beloved: We have this confidence in him that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked him for is ours. If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. here is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.

We know that anyone begotten by God does not sin; but the one begotten by God he protects, and the Evil One cannot touch him. We know that we belong to God, and the whole world is under the power of the Evil One. We also know that the Son of God has come and has given us discernment to know the one who is true. And we are in the one who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Children, be on your guard against idols.

Queridos hijos: La confianza que tenemos en Dios consiste en que, si le pedimos algo conforme a su voluntad, él nos escucha. Si estamos seguros de que escucha nuestras peticiones, también lo estamos de poseer ya lo que le pedimos. Si alguno ve que su hermano comete un pecado de los que no llevan a la muerte, que pida por él y le obtendrá la vida. Esto vale para los que cometen pecados que no llevan a la muerte, porque hay un pecado que sí lleva a la muerte (por ése no digo que se pida). Toda mala acción es pecado, pero hay pecados que no llevan a la muerte. Sabemos que todo el que ha nacido de Dios no peca, sino que el Hijo de Dios lo protege, y no lo toca el demonio. Sabemos que somos de Dios, mientras que el mundo entero yace en poder del demonio. También sabemos que el Hijo de Dios ha venido ya y que nos ha dado inteligencia para conocer al Dios verdadero. Nosotros permanecemos fieles al único verdadero, porque permanecemos en su Hijo Jesucristo. Él es el verdadero Dios y la vida eterna. Hijos míos, no adoren a los ídolos. 7

Jesus and his disciples went into the region of Judea, where he spent some time with them baptizing. John was also baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there, and people came to be baptized, for John had not yet been imprisoned.

En aquel tiempo, fue Jesús con sus discípulos a Judea y permaneció allí con ellos, bautizando. También Juan estaba bautizando en Enón, cerca de Salim, porque ahí había agua abundante. La gente acudía y se bautizaba, pues Juan no había sido encarcelado todavía.

Now a dispute arose between the disciples of John and a Jew about ceremonial washings. So they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, the one who was with you across the Jordan, to whom you testified, here he is baptizing and everyone is coming to him.” John answered and said, “No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said that I am not the Christ, but that I was sent before him.

Surgió entonces una disputa entre algunos de los discípulos de Juan y unos judíos, acerca de la purificación. Los discípulos fueron a decirle a Juan: “Mira, maestro, aquel que estaba contigo en la otra orilla del Jordán y del que tú diste testimonio, está ahora bautizando y todos acuden a él”.

Contestó Juan: “Nadie puede apropiarse nada, si no le ha sido dado del cielo. Ustedes mismos son testigos de que yo dije: ‘Yo no soy el Mesías, sino el que ha sido enviado delante de él’. En una boda, el que tiene a la novia es el novio; en cambio, el amigo del novio, que lo acompaña y lo oye hablar, se alegra mucho de oír su voz. Así también yo me lleno ahora de alegría. Es necesario que él crezca y que yo venga a menos”.

SPIRITUAL REFLECTIONS ON ST. PADRE PIO BY SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR The Concluding Prayer of St John Paul II to St Pio of Pietrelcina

La Oración final de San Juan Pablo II a San Pio de Pietrelcina Padre Pio, teach us also, we pray, humility of heart, so that we may be among the humble to whom the Father in the Gospel promised to reveal the mysteries of His Kingdom. Obtain for us the eyes of faith that will help us recognize in the poor and suffering, the very face of Jesus. Support us in our hours of trouble and trial and, should we fall, let us experience the joy of the sacrament of forgiveness. Teach us tender devotion to Mary, mother of Jesus and our Mother. Accompany us on our earthly pilgrimage toward the blessed Homeland, where we too, hope to arrive to contemplate forever the Glory of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Padre Pío, oramos, para que nos enseñes también, humildad de corazón, para que podamos estar entre los humildes, a quienes en el Evangelio el Padre prometió revelar los misterios de su Reino. Obtén para nosotros ojos de fe, para que podamos reconocer en los pobres y en los que sufren, el rostro mismo de Jesús.
