Dear Membership, As I exit this year as your President, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you for your support to both our board and me in particular. What a year! Leveraging all the work done by the previous board, we were looking forward to putting the Pandemic issues behind us and getting back to a fully functioning Club. As the year progressed we faced challenges with scarcity of labor, rising inflation, and increases in electricity, water and other overhead costs. With all the other Clubs in the area vying for talent and with our rising inflation, we increased salaries to keep our loyal associates and to attract new ones to fill the vacancies. I hope that you will agree with me that we continue to have the best group of loyal and committed associates of any Club in the area. This has also been a year of change at the management levels. We lost both our Greens Superintendent, Nick Checklenis (after serving our Club for 30 years), and our General Manager, Barrett Eiselman (serving us for over 6 years). Thanks to the efforts of Troon VP Bill O’Brien, we received resumes of some truly talented managers. I am extremely happy with the two individuals that we selected and their positive impact in just the short time that they have been with us. With Mike Adkins as our new Green Superintendent and Charles Lewis as our new General Manager, I believe that we will all enjoy their expertise and dedication in the years to come. I hope that you have noticed the positive changes that have already been completed or initiated, including the tons of sand added to our bunkers, the tree trimming around the Club and the course, the change in the height of our rough, the power washing of the Club, the new paint, the SCVCC labeled wine and bottled water, and creative changes to our menu items. The list is already very impressive and they have just started. Obviously, we still have a long way to go, but the progress has been amazing! The board pushed through with a few significant improvements which should have long term impact on our Club. The new pickleball courts have been a huge hit with many of our members and have drawn new members to the Club. And the extensive wild boar fencing that was installed around our course should help to greatly reduce (hopefully eliminate) the frustrating damage that we have experienced each year. Lastly, the Solar Project paperwork should be signed before the end of the year and the resulting 2023 project will help reduce and stabilize our energy costs in the future. Notwithstanding the many changes in our associates and management team this year, the Club’s F&B, Golf and Tennis departments did an outstanding job handling the many outside events along with the golf and member events. In fact, Food and Beverage exceeded budget revenues by over 30%! I heard many compliments on the many invitational and Tennis tournaments that were hosted during the year. Great job to all involved! With all this good news, we are still suffering a bit from membership sales that fell below plan, and concerns about the condition of our course. The membership team (under the direction of Melisa Yousef) has been successful changing the downward trend in membership sales in just about all areas with the exception of the Premier level, and we have expanded our marketing initiatives under the leadership of our Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Brittany Rieland. Last year, I heard many members express concerns with the quality of our course conditions and I am happy to report that this year many of these members now feel good about our progress. Yes, we still have a way to go but under Charles’ leadership, I am confident that our Club will continue to see change for the good. But we need your help, particularly with respect to inviting more guests and potential members to the Club. I thank all of you for your confidence and support to me personally as your Club President. I thank all the hard work of the two other exiting board members – Joe Talley and Bonnie Tomei. Also, I thank our 2022 Board for their dedication to the success of our Club. It was definitely a challenging but rewarding year. Good luck to the 2023 Board! In closing, I wish all of our members, our associates, and your families a happy and safe holiday season and a prosperous 2023.

A Golfer's New Year's Resolutions

NATALIE VO UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO

KALEIYA ROMERO PEPPERDINE

It was a perfect fall day for the players and gallery. The event started with a clinic and a Q&A session with the players. It was very interesting to hear the things the players were working on, and their thought process on shots. All the Players were exceptionally long hitters, and had great short games. Franky Sumcad got a par on the 1st hole on a tucked right pin placement, she won the first skin. Pars halved the 2nd hole, and then Kaleiya Romero ( after a big drive from the white tee that cleared the right fairway bunker) hit a wedge to 15 feet and made a par to get 2 skins. The players halved the 4th and 5th holes. Both Natalie and Caleb birdied #6. On a side bet Eric Lee on the 6th hole dared Caleb to drive over the creek from the gold tee on his drive. Caleb hit a majestic 325 yard drive clearing the trees and creek to 175 yards from the green. This shot raised another $150. Natalie birdied #7 by hitting her tee shot within 3 feet to get 4 skins. The 8th hole and 9th hole were halved with pars. We then had a chip off, which Caleb won cozying the ball within inches of the cup. Overall, we were able to raise $6,100. A special thanks to Jaime Leanos, Tom Scott and Eric Lee who were large contributors and because of their generosity were able to caddie for Franky, Caleb and Natalie respectively. I ended up caddying for Kaleiya Romero, who became our newest junior honorary member. My cousin Alan Hiura donated $1,000 directly to the First Tee that wasn’t part of our GoFundMe total.

Thank you again for supporting our youth and helping grow the game of golf.

Happy New Year!

January 2023 Play Days

From Tiffany Sparks, 2023 SCWG Captain

Wednesday, January 4–Just Golf - Free Play Day

As we head into 2023, perhaps you like me, are considering your resolutions. If you golf, perhaps you are considering a target for your handicap or a renewed commitment to practice or playing, or pushing yourself to participate in different events or play at different golf courses. If you aren’t regularly playing golf, perhaps that is something you should consider. Come join the Silver Creek Women’s Golf group. While my husband and I have had the privilege of being members at the Club for many years, I didn’t consider myself a golfer. I would join my husband to play in the couples’ casual Nine and Dine events, but I didn’t join the women’s club or take full advantage of having such an amazing course available to me. My mistake -- and now, I am trying to make up for lost time. I started playing regularly just a few years ago as the combination of working from home during the global pandemic and having my oldest daughter get her driver’s license freed up time in my schedule. Now, golf has become an important part of my life and something I truly enjoy. I am not a good golfer by any stretch, but I am committed to improving and play “warts and all.” By participating in the women’s group and playing more golf, I have met many more members at Silver Creek and other clubs, formed friendships I treasure, improved my game, played different courses and had more fun than I imagined. Participating in Silver Creek Women’s Golf, you have opportunities to enjoy regular play days, Super Guest Days, open days, team play, tournaments like Prince for a Day and Sadie Hawkins, and more, and meet many other women. This year, I continue to push myself out of my comfort zone and have the privilege of being captain of SCWG. If you are a premier member and thinking about playing golf, I highly encourage you to come join us. I am eager to participate to get more women to participate in a sport I have come to enjoy with women I have so much fun with, and I became captain with a goal of getting other women to experience the positive benefits I have received. If you have questions or just want to play, please reach out to me ([email protected]). I know I am looking forward to what’s in store for 2023.

Come out for a relaxing round of golf - plus earn your first Captain’s Cup participation point for 2022. Socialize with friends, enjoy the lush green hills and work on your game.

SCVCC Women's Club Continues for 2023! Recently you may have read or heard chatter that SCWC would be dissolving, lacking any members willing to take on the responsibilities necessary for such a group to exist. Tiffany Crouse and Sally Raab have volunteered for 2023 to step up as co-presidents. Let’s keep this boat afloat! SCWC has much to offer and provide to its members! Tiffany and Sally have talked to a few other members who are also willing to help in the areas of treasurer and communications, but there’s always room more volunteers. Hopefully, you too will jump onboard and share your talents... without it taking too much of your time. Let’s keep it simple and flexible! In the new year you will be hearing more ideas for a wider spectrum of opportunities and involvement. Keep an eye out for informative emails. In the meantime, think about your own areas of interest, and consider some of these ideas! • Going on a hike on one of the many great trails nearby. • Participating in a class on say…glass blowing. • Making an ‘object d’ art’ in a professionally taught class. • Joining a cooking class with our chef. • Attending a luncheon, happy hour, or dinner. • Enjoying an afternoon game, such as Mexican train or others. • Learning to play mahjong. • Going to a movie, show, or performance. • Learning how to play bridge.

Do any of these ideas pique your interest? Well, you must surely have some ideas too! What would YOU like to learn, participate in or possibly organize/lead? Let’s widen the spectrum even more with your ideas of interest. SCWC is about us, for us, by us! 2023 will be a grand year with all of us onboard! See you then!

Save the Date for January 2023 Luncheon The next luncheon for the Silver Creek Women’s Club will be on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Make your lunch reservations now by emailing [email protected] Please RSVP no later than Friday, January 13. 48-hour cancellation policy applies.

2022 Holiday Market a Huge Success! The Silver Creek Women’s Club would like to recognize the following women who lead the organization of the November 2022 Holiday Market. Diane Meyer successfully organized all the many vendors and event planning. Tricia Hunt and Kathleen Barnes did all the incredible marketing for the event. Hema Master organized the volunteers, overseeing a smooth flow of the event. Charm Hartland, Tiffany Crouse, Neelam Singh and Soly Patterson took the pictures. If you missed attending in person, or would like to still buy something, check out the web site for the holiday market at: https://www.scwcmarket.com/

WORKING WITH KATE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!

WORKING WITH KATE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!

5802 COUNTRY CLUB PARKWAY GORGEOUS CUSTOM HOME!

5907 FOLIGNO WAY STUNNINGLY REMODELED VERONA FLOOR PLAN

Sale Price: $4,800,000 5 Beds | 5.5 Baths | Plus Office and Multiple Flex Rooms | Approx 6,688 Sq Ft

Sale Price: $4,000,000 4 Beds | 4 Baths | Office | Approx 3,684 Sq Ft

I am proud to say the Seller listed their home with me after another prominent agent was unable to sell the property. The sale price of $4,800,000 is the highest price home to close escrow since January 1, 2022 in Silver Creek Valley Country Club. It really matters who you work with!

It was my extreme pleasure to list this gorgeous home on a private sale basis. Seller hired me to identify the perfect buyer for this home, because of my vast list of potential Country Club Buyers, I had the ideal buyer. This is what I do best!

5107 EASTBOURNE DRIVE REMODELED MANSION HOME

5163 VICENZA WAY - MASTERS SINGLE STORY FABULOUS VIEWS Sale Price: $3,850,000 3 Beds | 3.5 Baths | Office | Approx 3,740 Sq Ft

Sale Price: $4,750,000 5 Beds | 4.5 Baths | Full Home Theater | Approx 5,151 Sq Ft

This was an off-market sale that came to my attention because of my vast agent network relationships established over the past 30 years of living in and selling the beautiful homes of the Silver Creek Valley Country Club. My Buyer had looked for an extended period of time and I just knew they would fall in love with this Superb home. Buyers walked in and loved it immediately! This is what makes my job so rewarding! It matters who you work with!

Another record sale in the Mansion Collection of the Country Club. Seller created a wonderful customized home with expanded kitchen & island – Full home theater with equipment and furniture. Selling the Beautiful Homes of Silver Creek Valley Country Club like no other!

5629 ALGONQUIN WAY MANSION HOME - VIEWS & POOL

5561 AREZZO DRIVE AUGUSTA VERONA FLOOR PLAN BEAUTIFULLY UPGRADED

Sale Price: $3,600,000 4 Beds | 4 Full Baths | Downstairs Master and Full Ensuite Office/Bedroom | Approx 3,684 Sq Ft

Worked with both the buyer and seller to achieve a private sale off market. Both Seller and Buyers were happy with the negotiations. Home was sold fully furnished! I love working with my clients and making their dreams come true!

The Seller of this home was a repeat client of mine. I had sold her this home years ago and she created a wonderful Feng Shui oasis. She was now ready to travel more and see the world. The property sold well over asking. She is off to see the world!

WORKING WITH KATE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE!

5883 FOLIGNO WAY - AUGUST SIENA FLOOR PLAN, PHENOMENAL VIEWS

5883 KILLARNEY CIRCLE CARMEL LA PLAYA SPECTACULAR UPGRADES

Sale Price: $3,600,000 4 Beds | 3.5 Baths | Office + Flex Space Rooms | Approx 2,920 Sq Ft

Sale Price: $1,995,000 3 Beds | 2 Baths | Plus Office | Approx 1,875 Sq Ft Another “repeat” client of mine who wanted to move to a larger home within the Silver Creek Valley Country Club Community. But… only for the “perfect” house! I found it and they are so very, very happy with their new home, total turnkey in design and perfectly functional for the couple and their five cats! It Matters Who You Work With!

Record sale at “Price per square foot” $1,232/sf. Sellers were multiple “repeat” clients of mine who were just waiting for the right time to sell. We strategized together on how to present their home for market and when. Timing is everything! - We not only negotiated a record price, but included 3 months free rent back! This is what I do best!

5199 VICENZA WAY - MASTER SINGLE STORY - VIEWS AND UPGRADES THROUGHOUT Sale Price: $3,600,000 4 Beds | 3.5 Baths | Single Story | Approx 3,612 Sq Ft Another “repeat” client who wanted to move closer to family. We decided to jump on the market in early spring and soon established the price to beat in Silver Creek Valley Country Club. Negotiated a substantially over asking price with 2 months free rent and they were able to move closer to family just in time for the Holidays! I love my job and making dreams come true!

5807 AVIGON COURT - POSITANO AMALFI - HUGE PARK-LIKE BACKYARD Sale Price: $3,485,000 4 Beds | 3.5 Baths | Office | Approx 2,981 Sq Ft Another “Repeat” client who wanted to sell “only if the price was right”. We strategized on how to compete with other homes for sale that were similar but with views. We temporarily withdrew from the market to let our competition sell and once reactivated with less competition, the property sold immediately. The Timing & Price Were Right! It matters who you work with!
