Don Bosco College, Sulthan Bathery , Wayanad is the proud host of the ambitious 3 day National intercollegiate fest titled Sodashi 2022 scheduled on the 13,14 and 15 of October 2022.As a prelude to Sodashi 2022, its official logo was ceremoniously unveiled on 20-09-2022 at Gandhi square,Bathery by the eminent guest Sri Anoop Varkey, RTO.

The logo launch was preceded by a flash mob by the students of the college. The logo was unveiled and accepted by the PrincipalDr.Johnson Ponthempilly,SDB along with the coordinators Ms Sanitha IS and Mr.Mathew Varghese. The logolaunch witnessed felicitations by Dr.Antony Thekkedath,Rector and Manager, Fr.Jenson Varyath,Fr.Lijo Kalambaden and Mr. Antony PP, Vice Principal.

THE CHIEF GUEST OF THE INAUGURAL SESSION, PROF. VARGHESE VAIDYAN ADDRESSING THE AUDIENCE OF SODASHI 2K22

SODASHI 2K22 was inaugurated for its events on 13, 14 and 15 October 2022 in a grand inaugural function in the college auditorium on 13 October 2022. The inaugural function started at 10 am and saw a great attendance of participants. The inaugural session with its austerity, message of solidarity and vocal ideas on inclusivity set the tone for the ensuing academic,sport and culturalevents.

FELICITATION BY THE PRINCIPAL, DR. JOHNSON PONTHEMPILLY SDB DURING THE INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF SODASHI 2K22

The inaugural session began with a prayer. The welcome speech was rendered by the faculty coordinator of SODASHI 2K22, Ms Sanitha IS, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce. This was followed by Felicitation by the Principal, Dr. Johnson Ponthempilly SDB who spoke on the intent and effort behind SODASHI 2K22 . Ms Priya Philip, the IQAC Coordinator also spoke on the beauty of SODASHI 2K22 which promotes uniqueness through inclusivity. The eminent Chief Guest of the Inaugural session, Prof. Varghese Vaidyan, appreciated the organizers and emphasized the need to promote multidomain national interfaces to make learners get more heterogeneous exposure. Prof.Vaidyan stressedon being multifaceted in terms of skill development as it is the need of the 21st century. Dr. Antony Thekkedath, Rector and Manager spoke on the needto be resourceful and inventive so as to remain relevant.

PARTICIPATION AND EVENTS

SODASHI 2K22 saw the participation of 453 participants from 25 colleges. There was excited participation for all the events conducted by all the departments. The Sports and cultural section also saw very good participation and competitive spirit.Departmental Academic Sessions“Samvaad” registered 08 paper presentations in total. In the event Collegium Excelenca saw the team from Nilgiri Collegebeing adjudged the winner. SODASHI 2K22 saw interesting events conducted by various departments. There were innovative programs like Coding, Sudoku, Money Game, Paint a Poem, Archery Competition,Corporate Walk, travelogue Writing, Face Painting and Fly Poster. The Sport Events under the title MAIDAN saw intense competition in events like 5s Footballand Tug of war .The winners of Football is the team from Alphonsa College, Sulthan Bathery. In the Tug of War – Boys and Girls the teams from Marsleeva College, Rajamudi emerged winners. Feel the Beat- the Dance Competition saw brilliant choreography.

SODASHI 2K22 , the three day National Level intercollegiate fest saw the conclusion of its academic, sport and cultural events on 14 October 2022 in valedictory session held in the college auditorium at 4 pm. The valedictory function recorded the attendance of all the participants. The valedictory session began with cultural programs. The Conference Report Presentation was done by Mr. Mathew (HoD, Dept. of Travel & Tourism, Staff Coordinator of Sodashi). The Vice Provincial Rev. Fr. Shalbin Kalanchery, SDB stressed on the need to be collaborative and engender a society that is tolerant, peaceful and hopeful.The distinguished Chief Guest of the valedictory session, Dr. Geetha George,HoD, Department of English, St. Mary’s College,Sulthan Bathery congratulated the organizers and said that events like Sodashi bring out the latent talents of participants. The winners of the competitions conducted during Sodashi were awardedthe cash prizes by the Chief Guest. The overall champion trophy went to NilgiriCollege, Thaloor. The Chief Guest and the Vice Provincial were honored with mementoes by Rev. Dr. Johnson Ponthempilly, SDB, Principal. The overall rolling trophy of Zohar went to MarSleeva College, Idukki.The overall championship trophy of Sodashi 2k22 went to Nilgiri College of Arts and Science.They had 124 points to their credit. The student coordinators of Sodashi 2k22- Mr Vipin and Ms Alphonsa and the faculty coordinators of Sodashi 2k22- Ms Sanitha and Mr Mathew Varghese were felicitated with mementoes.

OUTCOMES OF SODASHI 2K22

DON BOSCO COLLEGE FRATERNITY WITH THE PRINCIPAL AFTER THE VALEDICTORY SESSION

SODASHI 2k22 aimed at creating an academic, cultural and sport interface. The first two days ofthe event focused on multi – domain academic, cultural and sport interfaces and competitions. Sodashi was a step forward in interdepartmental and intercollegiate collaboration. The college was able to focus on providing opportunities to students to understand variousaspects of organizing, interaction and executionskills. The interaction with the facultymembers and students of 25 institutions who participated created new ideas and insights to the learners of Don Bosco College. The third day of Sodashi 2k22 had a Mega Job Fair hosted by CAPS, DBC and CII(Confederation of Indian Industry). This was a well planed event aimed to provide student support and assist in student progression. It was also aimed at providing employment opportunities to candidates of the local society. There was also a book fair organized in the college as part of Sodashi 2k22. The book fair was in collaboration with Good Books, Kozhikode. SODASHI 2k22 was successful in creating a forum for academic, cultural, sport, student support andintellectual edification.

CAPS- Mega PlacementDrive SODASHI 2K22, on its third day , that is, 15 October 2022 was wholly dedicatedto a Mega Job Fair facilitated by CAPS(Career Advisory and Placement Service)- the Placement Cell of Don Bosco College. This Mega Job Fair was organized in association with CII(Confederation of Indian Industry) and CII Model Career Centre. The Job Fair was promoted by 20 companies who visited the campus for hiring suitable candidates . The qualification level was Plus two, Diploma, UG or PG. It was open for all interested candidates. No service charge was levied.

The networking and publicity of this event took place through Alumninetwork groups and studentgroups. Above 300 participants registered for the Mega Job Fair .

The major hirers who visited the campus include Axis Bank, Tech Neurons, MuthootFinance, Dr. Moopen’sMedical College, SBI Card, VelocityDevelopers, Ayur Herbalsand Softronics.

BOOK FAIR

A collaborative effort between Don Bosco College and Good Books

FR. JOSEPH TT MAKING THE FIRST PURCHASE SODASHI 2K22 , the three day National Level intercollegiate fest included a Book Fair on the third day, 15-10-2022. The book fair was a collaborative effort between the library of Don Bosco College and Good Books, Kozhikode. The book fair was organized in a bid to create more readingamong the learners.The book fair was staged in the open auditorium and saw a collection of popular literature in English, text books, university books and Malayalambooks.Over 3000 books were kept for exhibitionand sale.

The book fair offered books to the students and the general public on discounted prices. This book fair was yet another way of facilitating student enrichment through collaboration with an external agency. The first purchase of the fair was made by Rev. Fr. Joseph TT, the Campus minister.
